ndia has been overwhelmed with record breaking numbers of COVID 19 cases. This is the worst surge of the pandemic to date. According to Reuters, more than 300,000 people a day have been infected for over a week straight, breaking each previous dayʼs record. As of April 30, India has reported 19.56 million cases of COVID and 215,542 deaths. The actual number of cases has been estimated to be five to ten times higher. Hospitals have been forced to turn away individuals in need of medical assistance due to lack of bed space and oxygen, leaving millions to fend for themselves. Many hospitals are understaffed to the point where recently retired nurses and doctors are ordered to return to their old jobs. Morgues

and crematoriums have also been pushed to the limit. New variants of the virus have also sprung up across India, but their significance in perpetuating the surge is not yet know. Mass cremations are held in empty lots in the open. Sometimes up to 50 people are put on pyres at once. Despite being the worldʼs leader in vaccine production, India is behind in terms of vaccinating itself. According to BBC News, only 26 million out of 1.5 billion Indians have been fully vaccinated. The demand for vaccines is high in India and doses often run out as soon as they are available. Raul Jovel had his own thoughts as he stated, “ These appear to be random acts of violence . . . we have no idea what precipted this.” He later added, “ Weʼll be going back to the suspectʼs home . . . trying to figure out what led to these events.” The first shooting happened just before 1 am in the Exposition area, it was witnessed by California Highway Patrol officers. The gunman shot multiple rounds at a Korean speaking driver who he pulled alongside before he opened fire. From the victims car, a dashboard camera was able to capture the killers license plate. About 15 minutes later a few blocks away from the first shooting, a second one was reported. A man waiting in line at a Starbucks drive-thru was shot and killed by the gunman for unknown reasons. One of the security cameras showed the Jeep SUV behind the victimʼs blue Mustang in the line. It was not clear what led
to the altercation. The victimʼs wife watched her husband be murdered in the passenger seat as she was also injured Later on after the security cameras footage, the LAPD were able to identify the gunman 24-year-old Alexis Carbajal. Twenty minutes later a third shooting was reported after the second shooting. This occured in the downtown Los Angeles area in Figueroa and 7th streets. The shooter pulled alongside an SUV where a person in a Cadillac Escalade was the SUV driver was shot and killed. Moments later, a person driving from work was fired by a driver in a Jeep. The two vehicles were stopped on the Maple Street exit ramp on the 10 freeway, the victim was not injured. Alabama Bans Transgender Athletes from Women's Sports

n April 23, Alabama becames one of the first states to ban transgender girls from participating in women sports. Reasoning that Alabama is one of the conservative states, Republican Governor Kay Ivey signs a legislation bill against transgender women. According to The Guardian Magazine, the legislation states, “a public K-12 school ʻmay never allow a biological male to participate on a female team.ʼ” The HB 391 bill supporters agree that transgender women tend to be stronger and faster than the biological female. This results in a hindrance in competitive womenʼs sports. While supporters argue the disadvantages, their
opponents sense the sexual and educational discrimination within the education system and LGBTQ+ community. Human Rights President Alphonso David expresses his thoughts regarding this decision. He says, “HB 391 is nothing more than a politically motivated bill designed to discriminate against an already vulnerable population.” David adds, “… transgender children are children. They deserve the same opportunity to learn valuable skills of teamwork, sportsmanship and healthy competition with their peers.” With the State House voting 74-19, and Senate House voting 25-5, Alabama moves forward to passing this bill. During a senate debate, Republican Garlan Gudger of Cullman believes that it is biased for biological males to compete and
defeat females in their sport. Stating that the bill is to protect the integrity of female athletic programs, this may cause a rift throughout the sports world. As Alabama controls its reigns, they are not the only state considering this bill. Idaho was the first state to pass the ban, receiving serious legal disputes. In March, Governor of Mississippi Tate Reeves agreed to sign and ban transgender athletes from joining girls or women teams. Although Democratic Governor of Kansas, Laura Kelly vetoed a similar bill, 30 other states are considering this proposal. Last Thursday, Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis announced his willingness to sign and ban transgender females from competing in womenʼs sports. Most of the Democratic lawmakers and equalists
oppose said ban, deeming it unnecessary and discriminatory. According to Fox News Town Hall speech, DeSantis expresses “to protect our girls” to many red state governors. He compares his four-year-old and oneyear-old daughter to this issue, both being athletically driven.
“We want to have opportunities for our girls. They deserve an even playing field, and thatʼs what weʼre doing.” This bill states the ban of transgender females from playing women and girls scholastic sports in Florida. In addition, this ban does not apply to elementary school children or transgender males to male sports. This pertains to schools, not requiring or allowing medical examinations
of studentʼs genitals, in order to be eligible to participate. Advancing, these measures claim to protect women within their sports, but have a risk of not participating in future events. According to Tampa Bay Times, The NCAA voiced caution of championship events being held in locations that are “free of discrimination.” A statement was released saying, “We will continue to closely monitor these situations to determine whether NCAA championships can be conducted in ways that are welcoming and respectful of all participants.” Regulating collegiate athletics, NCAA still require transgender women to receive medical drug treatments to lower testosterone levels before competing, but the organization entails work on keeping a safe and welcoming environment for athletes.

Aaron Rodgers at Feud with Green Bay Packers, Considering His Future ENRIQUE MEDINA Broadcast Director

No NFL MVP has ever been traded the year after he won the award. With the recent rumors swirling around Rodgers' future, he may be the first on that list.
rior to this weekʼs highly anticipated NFL Draft, reports came out that long time Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is extremely unhappy with the team. According to ESPN Senior NFL Insider, Adam Schefter, “Rodgers is so disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers that he has told some within the organization that he does not want to return to the team.” Rodgers, 37, is now going into his 17th year in the NFL, one with many accomplishments to his name. Rodgers has won the NFL MVP three times, with the most recent being this past season. Rodgers also has a Super Bowl to his name, one that he won back in 2010 with Green Bay. He has been arguably one of the best quarterbacks of this generation and one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. Rodgers has spent all of his 16 years thus far with the Green Bay Packers, and the most recent news about his feud with the team has shocked many. Packers general manager,
Brian Gutekunst, has stated that despite the reports, the team is committed to Rodgers for 2021 and beyond. Furthermore, teams have inquired on the Packers potentially trading Rodgers, but nothing has materialized at all. The Los Angeles Rams were said to have checked in back in January and recently the San Francisco 49ers checked in on Rodgers. As for the reasons Rodgers is unhappy with Green Bay, there are a variety of reasons as to why. First, Rodgers was not notified last year of the Packers first round draft pick, quarterback Jordan Love. It is presumed that Love will be Rodgersʼ replacement whenever the 37 year old decides to call it quits or take his talents elsewhere. Secondly, another reason, not necessarily towards the Packers, is Rodgers aspirations in becoming the host of Jeopardy. Additionally, Rodgers has been vocal on his wanting of an extension to his liking with the team, and nothing has seemed to materialize at this point. No reigning MVP has ever been traded the very next season. However, with the news
of Rodgers unhappiness, it is a real possibility that he may be traded. Some trade targets that have been thrown out the most, according to ESPN NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler, include Rodgers going to the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, or even the Seattle Seahawks in a move that could potentially include Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. There is also the possibility that Rodgers holds out for the season, or even more shockingly, decides to retire. With a potential move away from Green Bay, it leaves the rest of the NFC North wide open for the future. Teams like the Chicago Bears who revitalized themselves with their first round draft pick of Ohio State quarterback, Justin Fields, for the future. The Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings also revitalized/improved themselves in the draft, with the Vikings also taking a quarterback this year, Kellen Mond from Texas A&M. Each of these possibilities are possible amidst the Rodgers feud with Green Bay. The feud ultimately sets the stage for an interesting next few months of the NFL offseason.
Christian Pulisicʼs First American to Score in UCL Semi Finals FERNANDO R AMOS Sports Editor

T
his past week we had the first leg of the Uefa Champions League Semi Finals. We are going to highlight the game between Chelsea and Real Madrid, as Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic became the first American to score in the UCL semi finals. Christian Pulisic has become the star and gem of the U.S Men's National Team for a few years now, and he has been fulfilling those expectations everyone in the States had for him. Christian made his name in Germany, playing for Borussia Dortmund, making his debut at 17 years old. He was also at the time the youngest ever goal scorer in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund. He then later had his big money move to Stamford Bridge to play for Chelsea. From his first day in London, he already had massive boots to fill, as he was set to take over Eden Hazard after Hazardʼs move to Real Madrid. It is safe to say that Pulisic has not yet reached the levels
Christian Pulisic holds the record for the most expenisve American transfer when he moved from German side Borrusia Dortmund to Chelsea that Eden Hazard once had at Chelsea. However it is not to say that Pulisic has been a disappointment. He has contributed to 19 goals since heʼs moved to
London. However, injuries have played a huge part in why those stats arenʼt as high as he was producing in Germany. Pulisic has only played 48
games since moving to Chelsea. He is currently averaging 2.5 goal contributions a game, which are outstanding numbers for a winger. Apart from his
goal contributions, Pulisic also contributes a lot on the counter attack as well as running in behind the defence, as seen in the game against Real Madrid. Against Real Madrid, Pulisic took advantage of his blistering pace to run behind the high defensive line of Real Madrid. Antonio Rudiger sent a ball behind Real Madridʼs defence. Pulisic then controlled the ball, as he rounded the keeper and put the ball past an open net. This was a massive goal for both Pulisic and Chelsea. This goal gives Chelsea a huge advantage going into the reverse leg against Real Madrid as it is an away goal for “The Blues”. For Pulisic this is a massive goal as he now becomes the first American player to score in the Champions League Semi Finals. Also, if Chelsea manage to knock out Real Madrid, Pulisic will also become the second American player to appear in a Champions League Final. Pulisic is still very young but yet still plays with lots of maturity for his age. He will no doubt have a big influence in both Chelsea and the USMNT for years to come.

he Brooklyn Nets are the first team to clinch a playoff berth in the 2021 season. They are currently 42-20 with the first seed in the eastern conference. Keeping the first seed will be very important come playoff time. Being the higher seed will secure home court advantage in the playoffs. Therefore they will be the home team for four out of the 7 games in a series. Another thing is this will be the first time they finish first in their conference since 2003. This is the best roster the Nets have had in years so without a doubt they want to end the year with a championship. Now that the Nets are for sure in the playoff, it is very important that they stay healthy. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden have had to miss games due to some type of injury. What is important now is that they make sure to take care of their bodies so they
are ready for the postseason. Another thing they need to do is get their team chemistry right as well. All these players have almost never played with each other so they need to find a playstyle that works best for the team. Whether the ball is in Hardenʼs hand or Irvingʼs hand, they need to figure something out. The last time the Brooklyn Nets were in the NBA Finals was in 2003. That team was led by Jason Kidd alongside Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson. Unfortunately for that team they lost in the finals to the San Antonio Spurs. That team was led by Tony Parker and Tim Duncan. This was the Nets second lost in the finals in a row. They lost the year prior to the Los Angeles Lakers led by a young Kobe Bryant and Shaquille OʼNeal. Although they fell short those two year, this year is definitely their best chance to win since 2003. Some say this is the most stacked team in NBA history so it is only right if they end the year with a

Besides milk, Oatly produces oat-based creamer, yogurt, and ice cream. According to SPINS, oat milk has become number 2 in plant based dairy products, with almond milk being number one. It was only a matter of time before Starbucks joined in on the wave. Oat milk has been available in Europe and select reserve locations since 2019, but after the rise of Oatly it was time to bring it nationwide. The new oat milk drinks became wildly popular and customers would add oat milk to their regular orders. To help slow down the consumption of oat milk, Starbucks made customers order through their app or online to get oat milk. Starbucks was then forced to remove the product from their menus and customers were quick to get mad on Twitter. As of right now, Starbucks representatives have not given a time table of when oat milk will return. lamingos are such beautiful creatures. Whether you see them at the zoo or even at the Las Vegas hotel called Flamingo, they are extraordinary animals. Here are 8 facts about flamingos. 1. First, flamingos are a type of wading bird. They can be three and half to five feet tall. Other than the zoo, flamingos can be found in swampy, lake, and lagoon areas. They love being around the water. 2. The Flamingo is the national bird for the Bahamas. Flamingos are unique animals. They are one of the longest living birds in the world. Most flamingos live in the West Indian, Yucatán, Bonaire Island, Mexico, and Inagua Island in the Bahamas. 3. Back then, people used to get flamingo tongues. Flamingos have lean muscle for flying distances. Therefore, their tongues taste more like duck than chicken. During Roman times, the wealthy would eat flamingo tongues at feasts. The oldest flamingo lived up to 83 years old. The flamingo was named Greater. It was known as Flamingo 1. It died on January 30. 2014. It resides in Australia.
11
It is unknown if the flamingo was male or female. 4. Flamingos can fly really fast and far. They are so pretty that you might think they are not able to fly like Penguins, but they can! They can fly up to 40 miles per hour. They can travel at least 400 miles without landing. They beat their wings to fly. Their wingspan is about 5 to 6 feet. 5. They are monogamous. Flamingos commit to only one mate. Then, the next year, they will find new mates. Flamingos with their mates build nests together made of mud, stones, straw, and feathers. They are used to protect egg from heat and flooding. 6. Have you tried to stand on only one leg? Itʼs hard unless you have really good balance. Flamingos are literally ballerinas. They can stand on one leg for a long time. Their legs look skinny, but they are able to stand on one leg. They stand on one leg to conserve body heat or to sleep. 7. Not all flamingos are born pink. Some are born grey or white. Then they turn pink or orange because of their diet. 8. Flamingos don't have teeth. They have lamellae on their beaks and tongues. It filters out mud and silt from their food.
