Various elected officials and senior county leadership lead the county. They collaborate with regional partners to solve complex problems and protect our most vulnerable.

PURPOSE

ABOUT THE ROLE

Deputy County Administrator

The Deputy County Administrator oversees various operational and staff departments as determined by the County Administrator. The deputy will manage projects and staff, allocate resources, and prepare and monitor the budget. They will work with executive directors to ensure effective communication with the County Administrator, Board of County Commissioners (BoCC), other elected officials, staff from other jurisdictions, and the public. The Deputy County Administrator serves as the County Administrator in their absence.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilites

Knowledge of and practical experience in public administration with particular emphasis in government administration.

Knowledge of research methods and techniques used to assemble, organize, and present statistical, financial, or factual information derived from a variety of sources. Ability to effectively prepare and present reports.

Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and other requirements governing public jurisdictions.

Thorough knowledge of modern business methods, practices, and trends.

Ability to delegate authority and responsibility, as well as maintain an effective organization. Ability to organize, direct, and coordinate the activities of others.

Ability to demonstrate strong customer service principles to provide cost effective and speedy solutions and conclusions to issues.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the internal departments, members of the Board of County Commissioners, countywide elected officials, outside agencies, and the public.

Demonstrated decision making skills, utilizing analysis, investigation, and past experience.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

COMPENSATION

Base Annual Salary: $215,000 - $235,000

Vacation Leave: 120 hours per year, accumulated bi-weekly

Personal Holiday Leave: 24 hours, renews annually

Holidays: 11 paid holidays each year

Sick Leave: 96 hours per year, accumulated bi-weekly
