ABOUT THE ROLE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - COMMUNITY SERVICES The Executive Director of the El Paso County Community Services Department is responsible for the management, administration, planning, and leadership of the Park Operations, Environmental Services, Recreation and Cultural Services, and CSU Extension divisions within the Community Services Department.

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, nonprofit administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated managerial and administrative leadership experience; ten (10) years preferred. Minimum five (5) years of community and/or natural resources/services or related experience. Extensive knowledge of resource planning, state and federal grant funding, principles and practices of budget preparation and administration required. Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and other requirements governing public jurisdictions. Demonstrated skills in capital project management. Ability to direct, organize, and coordinate the activities of others. Skilled in cultural change management principles. Ability to communicate effectively, both in verbal and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with Elected Officials, County Executive staff, community agencies, and the general public. Proven skills in fundraising and grant procurement and management. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements above. Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.

COMPENSATION Salary: $145,000 - $158,000 annually Vacation: 120 Hours per year, accumulated bi-weekly Personal Time: 24 hours, renews each year Holidays: 11 paid holidays each year Sick Leave: 96 hours per year, accumulated bi-weekly Retirement: El Paso County offers a competitive government retirement plan.
