EDITOR’SNOTE
Have you ever stepped into a space and feel instantly relaxed? Supporters of colour psychology believe that the colours in a room can have an effect on people’s moods and perceptions. A bedroom swathed in pastel blue, for instance, has a soothing impression that is purported to aid sleep. On the other hand, a bright yellow kitchen will energize the spirits and bring about cheer, perfect for kick-starting the day on the bright note.
Also in this issue is our second SquareRooms Awards. This time we are rounding up the best bedding and bedroom accessories. Find out which mattresses, pillows and bed linen made the cut in the SquareRooms Awards: Comfort Edition on pg 58!

Colour your world
Even in feng shui, colours play an important role in directing energy around the home. Used in conjunction with the energy map of a space, the right colours can foster balance, growth and abundance. For example, red in feng shui represents energy and excitement and can be used living rooms to encourage luck and happiness. On the other hand, green is the colour of renewal, and can be used in the kitchen to promote good health.
denying that colour can enhance the look of your interiors. Incorporating colour into your home doesn’t have to mean covering it entirely in eye-popping hues. Even if it’s a soft blue wall or a few bright pops of colour, they can add visual interest to a space. In this issue of SquareRooms, we tell you how to cleverly introduce colour into your abode. From the hottest paint trends (pg 36) to colourful furnishings (pg 42), we have all the details on how you can add some colour to your home.

STYLE MEETS SUBSTANCE Samsung’s sleek-looking HW-NW700 soundbar delivers sound that promises to transform your home theatre experience
Audio systems in the past were all about function. But these days, advanced technology has allowed speakers and soundbars to boast streamlined forms without compromising on sound quality. One such product is the Samsung HW-NW700 soundbar. Created for homeowners who value aesthetics and functionality in equal measures, the sleekly designed audio equipment is the perfect complement to any wall-mounted television, resulting in a stylish home entertainment suite.
SLIM AND SLEEK DESIGN
DISTORTION-FREE ZONE
Measuring at 53.5mm in depth, the HW-NW700 soundbar is 41 per cent slimmer than its predecessor, making it Samsung’s slimmest soundbar for 2018. As a complement to any wall-mounted TV, this decrease in size allows the soundbar to be seamlessly integrated into the living room. Additionally, the svelte design bridges the need for a visually pleasing sound system, allowing the equipment to be viewed by homeowners as a piece of art as much as it is a television sound boosting bar.
As a successor to the award-winning MS650 Sound+ model, the HW-NW700 soundbar has been incorporated with several sound-enhancing features. One such feature is the innovative distortion-cancelling technology. This smart function is designed to detect distortions that may occur during the time sound travels to the ends of the speakers and makes adjustments accordingly before before it happens, leaving users with smooth, distortion-free bass tones.
IMMERSIVE LISTENING EXPERIENCE
TRULY CONNECTED NETWORK
Despite its compact size, the HW-NW700 soundbar doesn’t sacrifice on performance. Dedicated to producing the optimum audio output, the slim audio equipment’s interior encompasses three speaker channels and a subwoofer that not only direct sounds towards the listener but around the room as well. Even without an external subwoofer, the resulting sound is dynamic and rich, providing a balanced and detailed audio output all while perfectly complementing minimalist interiors.
Homes are becoming increasingly smart, and this IOTenabled soundbar wants you to take your connected living to the next level. Sync the soundbar to your mobile devices and tablets through Bluetooth® or Wi-Fi and you’ll be able to stream and enjoy music in top audio quality anywhere. Additionally, with Alexa compatibility, users can also control the soundbar hands free using voice control.

HERMAN FURNITURE SPECIALISES IN LIVE EDGE TABLES. WHAT DOES “LIVE EDGE” MEAN?
Live edge is a carpentry style that embraces the natural contours of the tree. Unlike standard solid wood tables where multiple pieces of wood are jointed together with a straight edge, live edge tables are created using a single slab of wood, thereby preserving the natural edge of the wood slab. These details vary from tree to tree and actually gives you an insight of the tree’s origin and history, making each piece truly unique.

have loved to enter the business with a mentor’s guidance. However, the industry is rather small and being outsiders to the business, we didn’t really know where else to begin. YouTube was the go-to first step, and the online tutorials gave us an introduction to the basics and helped us ask the right questions. As we progressed and learned the vocab of the industry, we also came across generous veterans who were willing to share their knowledge with us. From there, it was a lot of experimentation and prototyping. A big part of carpentry is about precision and attention to details, so we had to pay attention to every little thing. Noting down what worked and what didn’t across many late nights, we eventually worked our way towards the Herman signature process that we are so proud of now.

Encompassing a new Umbrella Air Suction structure that is designed according to the rules of aerodynamics, ONYX hoods are engineered to extract kitchen fumes immediately upon emission, leaving the air quality in your home pollution-free. long the busy business district of Singapore sit the same old dining options that bore the taste buds. Luckily, a new fast-casual dining concept has emerged to tantalise our taste buds. Brought to you by the folks behind sake gastrobar, Kabuke, Tokidon is a beef bowl eatery that is set to elevate the humble (and recently ubiquitous) rice bowl to new heights. Playfully decked out in neon lights that play off the interior’s deeper shades of blue and purple, it is almost reminiscent of an ‘80s video arcade. The inspiration behind the unique lighting of the restaurant stems from paying tribute to the convivial energy of nightfall in a cosmopolitan city. Alongside the engaging interior, the casual eatery is furnished with neutral-coloured high tables and bar stools to complement

the theme and accommodate the crowd during busy hours. On top of being a dining spot, Tokidon also hawks unique merchandise and collectibles created by local artists. Their first line of official merchandise features an ensemble of 8-bit food key chains that invokes the eatery’s gourmet concept and lifestyle brand as well as
limited edition t-shirts designed by artist Mojoko. Fusing traditional Japanese recipes with contemporary flavour, the menu here is aimed at providing diners with premium quality beef bowls at friendly prices. The bowls feature only the best Grade 6 wagyu slices and Grade 9 sukiyaki wagyu prepared medium rare for optimum enjoyment. The four cuts of meat used are showcased daily at the counter to give customers a better understanding and appreciation towards the choice of meat they will be having. Their repertoire of beef bowls includes gyu don ($11.90), truffle tenderloin don ($15.90), wagyu sukiyaki don ($17.90) and wagyu
misozuke don ($23.90). Diners are also able to choose between cha soba, salad or Japanese rice as their base for free. To complement these gourmet bites is Tokidon’s selection of authentic Japanese canned drinks (from $2.90) or cup sakes ($11.90) that have been carefully selected by Kabuke’s in-house sake sommelier. Each sake had been chosen to pair particularly well with the beef bowls and customers are free to take home the collectible sake cups as part of their experience.

HAUTE HUES INTRODUCING 4 FASHION-FORWARD PALETTES TO DRESS YOUR DWELLING TEXT Fidz Azmin

Pastels as neutrals may not be new in the world of interiors; but the palette that we’ve picked is far more versatile. It’s like the tints that you know and love, but softer and all grown up. These milky ice-cream colours are a touch duskier with a mood that is more toned down – without losing any of that trademark airiness. Think baby blues with a touch of grey or a smoky rose pink. This way, an all-neutral pad still gets to enjoy a subtle hit of colour – and depth – without steering out of theme.
SOFT SERVE Not all pinks are the same. This particular shade of smoky pink makes the perfect base coat for a monochrome room. It imbues just the right amount of warmth and lightness into it without trying to pry attention away from the pops of colour peppered around.

COLOURS TO FALL FOR
IMAGE COURTESY OF GO MODERN FURNITURE
The transition between seasons marks the reveal of a palette signature to each time of the year. And autumnal colours prove to be the most spectacular. Its palette is earthy, rustic and warm; yet so richly pigmented such that it is striking enough to make a statement when applied indoors. Take a cue from hues like burnt orange, sienna, terracotta and deep golden brown. Don’t be afraid to use them all at once – subtle nuances between these shades give you liberty to do so confidently.
ORANGE POP Set against a contrasting backdrop of midnight blue, the reddish-orange glow of the chairs is tastefully exemplified.

WARM AND TOASTY Without the earth-toned rugs and dining chairs in place, this neutral interior will feel stark and unwelcoming. Even the copper pendant takes on a patina that resembles this incandescent hue
The desire for us to connect with nature in an all-pervasive urban jungle persists in the coming year. Set the tone right in your sanctuary with deep moody greens like hunter, olive and dusky sage – colours guaranteed to bring to mind the lushness of the natural environment. Their restful vibe works well all throughout the home, but it’s best to use them in rooms that receive plenty of natural light because the hues are a tad dark. You could also mimic sunlight’s sparkle by adorning your dwelling with metallic accessories of gold and gilt. These shiny things are incidentally still the go-to jewellery for the interior come 2019.
TWICE AS GOOD Avoid overwhelming a small space by applying the colour on a feature wall or through accessories. Try this: leave half a wall in a contrasting pale hue to encourage the bounce of light around a petite room.

Intense yet tasteful berry shades present a palette that appeals to the fearless. The idea is to pick one standout hue from the bounty that comprises rich cranberry red to deep burgundy. Then, team with a dusky neutral like charcoal or slate grey. Together, the power couple looks dramatic and luxe, yet it stirs up an atmosphere that feels meditative as opposed to one that’s overwhelming.
A DELICIOUS PAIR Like leaves of a berry bush, the couch in a light olive green makes an unexpectedly fresh juxtaposition against the attention-grabbing wall.

FUN WITH TILES With tiles, your options are many and varied. For a feature wall that’s set to impress, bedeck it with patterned tiles or those that are unique in shape. An ingenious approach to cutting costs without compromising style is to arrange classic subway tiles in an unexpected way. For instance, by assembling the tiles in a herringbone pattern, your wall gets a shot of classic style without the cost.

U P T H E WA L L Blown up to fit snugly onto the entire expanse of your wall, murals can add a dramatic element to a room and even be the highlight of any given space. To avoid overwhelming an interior, keep the room setting restrained. Also, try picking a colour that complements the hues in your home for visual harmony. With murals, lighting is important to bring it to life. Install light fixtures if the area isn’t naturally well lit.

EXTRA SPECIAL SHADES Special effects paint goes beyond introducing a brand-new coat of colour onto walls; it offers homeowners a unique way of injecting textures and finishes that resemble marble, linen and even velvet into their living space – by paint alone. Application requires a multiple layering technique that brings out a tactile effect, elevating walls from flat to fab. No additional construction work is required, simply rope in the help of an expert for unsurpassed results.

B E YO N D T H E S U R FAC E Laminates are the go-to material for the interior because of their diversity, durability and versatility. Apart from offering boundless design options, they also come in different finishes like high gloss, matte and textured to suit your creature habits. As supportive wall panels are constructed prior to laminate installation, designers take advantage of this base to tuck away any unsightly wiring and cables particularly if the feature wall is used as a TV backdrop.
DESIGN BY MINIMO & MINOMOLOGY
A handsome walnut wood-effect laminate-clad TV wall brings an atmospheric mood into this living room. The panels are arranged to form a herringbone pattern – a nifty way to inject visual interest.
SHELF LIFE Shelves bedecked upon a bare wall aren’t just great as a focal point in a room, they also help maximise storage space. Go all out with units that reach the full height of the ceiling to create a grand impression. Line shelves with your collection of literature a la library chic; or showcase travel curios, pottery and beyond amongst books. Remember, don’t cram everything within a shelf – leave breathing space to avoid a cluttered appearance. You don’t want to draw the wrong kind of attention here.

COMFORT EDITION BEST POCKETED SPRING MATTRESS
A good night’s sleep is what our body needs in order to repair and heal itself after the stresses of the day. But just how do you ensure that you get your best sleep night after night? Well, by getting yourself a good and reliable mattress that checks all of your boxes, of course! A local mattress brand on a mission, Hennsley aims to provide quality bedding products at competitive prices that improve users’ lives, well-being and most importantly, quality of sleep. Under both the Classic and Premium collections, the company offers a range of mattresses that suit varying sleeping patterns and comfort levels. One such mattress is the Caribea, which is part of Hennsley’s Premium series. Fitted
with an extra padding on top that provides additional comfort, the pillow-top model’s Standard Compact Pocketed Innerspring System is further enhanced with a seven-zone sleep system. By dividing the mattress into seven sections – head and neck, shoulders, hips and pelvic, knees, lower legs and feet – users are offered a more consistent and even body support throughout the night. Worried about Singapore’s humidity ruining your sleep? The Caribea model also features a specially treated fabric called Coolmax, a type of moisture-wicking technical fabric that is engineered to improve “breathability”, making it cooler to sleep on when compared to mattresses with natural fibres like cotton.

Many say that the bed is the most important piece of furniture in the home. We don’t disagree. After all, we spend an average of seven hours on it every day, if not more. But while there are plenty of mattress brands in the market, Haylee hopes to set itself apart from the pack. Designed by Singaporeans for Singaporeans, Haylee understands just how unforgiving our local weather can be, even at night. As such, the Haylee Mattress is tailored to deal with the humidity and is made with layers of Cool Gel Memory Foam and Aeroflo Foam which promise to keep you cool and comfortable all night long. In addition, the Transition Foam and High Density Foundation Foam layers serve to help in consistent weight distribution and enable long-term support. Available in a variety of sizes, the Haylee Mattress also comes with a bamboo-knitted fabric cover that can be easily removed for washing. Once you’ve made your purchase, Haylee will deliver the mattress to you for free. Whether you opt for it to be delivered within two hours or three days of your order, the mattress is conveniently compressed and vacuum-packed into a box, meaning that you won’t have to deal with bulky boxes in your home. But perhaps the most attractive feature about purchasing a Haylee mattress is that it comes with a 100-nights sleep trial. Instead of a quick five-minute trial in the store, you can take up to 100 nights in the comfort of your own home to decide if the mattress is the perfect fit for you. If it’s not, simply return it before the 100 days are up for a full refund. The returned mattress is then refurbished and donated to local charity organisations after a stringent inspection process, so you can be sure that the mattress you purchase is completely brand new with no defects. There’s nothing quite like sinking into a comfortable and luxurious bed after dealing with the stresses of the day. So the next time you’re looking for a fuss-free upgrade on your current mattress, you can’t go wrong with Haylee.

While this might not be for everyone, the couple loved the inconsistencies. The colours complement the finishes used, from the cement screed walls and floor to the woodgrained and blue surfaces in the kitchen. To counter the bright hues, Raymond kept it pared down in the cooking space with lower cabinets to keep the space looking too busy. Notably, one of the main
ideas is to use colours that are soothing and fun. “These colours can be used whether it is an industrial or contemporary space, he advises. The master bedroom is also decked out in colour, this time in a lush shade of blue. While there are common elements that tie the look together, the details in every space prevent monotony. The team installed full-length curtains to separate the bed from the wardrobe area and converted the master bathroom into a powder room with a vanity. If you could put into images what you’ve just pictured in your mind, we bet they’d look something like this threebedroom apartment located in the western end of Singapore. “Before coming over to Singapore, the owners were living in Australia. And because the
cafe culture was already so integrated into their lifestyle, we thought it would be fun to translate the culture and vibrancy of the city they came from into their new home,” explains Li Meiyi, the associate designer on the three-d conceptwerke team that was roped in to help with the home renovation. They also wanted these areas to be seen as one cohesive space but with

elements that allow each one to work individually when required. In the living room, an abundance of white and light grey tones dominate the space. But it is hard to find yourself not being taken by the striking deep green feature wall. Initially, the colour choice was something the owners were quite hesitant to adopt, and they needed much persuasion and convincing from the designers. But once they were won over, it was a choice they didn’t regret, for the feature wall now serves as the apartment’s anchoring point against the crisp neutral backdrop. As the owners are frequent hosts of gatherings and parties, the designers decided to imbue the dining zone with a spacious and airy atmosphere, which was achieved through the abundance of white tones. However, with the

addition of warm wood tones on the furniture pieces and accompanying storage units, the space is prevented from feeling too clinical. The kitchen had to be highly functional without losing its aesthetic appeal as the owners spend much time here. To ensure that the owner’s request for a cohesive home was met, the upper half of the surrounding partition walls were hacked away and replaced with black mild steel-framed glass dividers. “The kitchen could have easily been cracked open to flow into the adjoining spaces, but we chose to contain the cooking area to allow for worry-free cooking,” Meiyi further elaborates. Within the kitchen, a groovy geometric patterned floor catches the eye. The statement

Meanwhile, a selection of sturdy materials – like stainless steel countertops and backsplash – allow the cooking zone to keep up with its regular usage. When it came to the private living chambers, budget constraints meant that there weren’t many modifications that could be made to the space. However, in order to provide the owners with a space that they can retreat to after a long day, the master boudoir features a luxurious bed that was oriented to face the generous windows that line two wall lengths. modification the shower zones had done to them was the change of floor and wall tiles. “The original glossy black wall tiles in the bathroom did not tie in with the design of the rest of the home, so we changed it out for a tamer grey tile from Hafary. To make the space more cohesive, we then overlaid the flooring with the same grey tile, Meiyi explains. implicity and functionality are the qualities that lie at the heart of every Scandinavian-inspired interior. And things are no different in this two-bedroom dual-key apartment located in Tampines. The project brief was fairly straightforward. Working with interior designer Cadine Lim from Prozfile, the owners requested for a minimalist and uncomplicated home. This resulted in a space swathed in whites and browns that imbue the home with an open, airy atmosphere, whereas eye-catching pops of colours help brighten up the surroundings and distinguish it from run-of-the-mill designs. To anchor the Scandinavian theme, the original compressed marble flooring was swapped out for vinyl, immediately lending the
home a sense of warmth. From then on, it was all about playing with the right materials to keep the apartment spacious, stylish and cosy. Much like its Scandinavian counterparts, this abode’s unsullied foundation was complemented by a collection of streamlined furniture pieces that enhance its serene atmosphere, with most possessing white and wooden tones. The lack of built-in fixtures and the untouched walls also serve to enhance the home’s clean and minimalist appearance. However, the use of subtle details and textures help make the space a visually interesting one. This can be seen through the dark wood and gold tones of the television console as well as the chevron patterns on the door of the shoe cabinet located along the entryway.

A storage unit was carved out from the unused space along the entryway, which now serves as a shoe cabinet. Meanwhile, the door handle was made from the same cobalt blue aluminium frame as the kitchen’s glass partition wall, drawing visual consistency between the two features.

A major part of the renovation was focused on the kitchen which was opened up by taking down a wall that separated the cooking zone from the living spaces. In its place is a cobalt-blue sliding glass door that allows plenty of light to filter into the two zones. KITCHEN
The newly erected bar counter in the kitchen not only serves as a spot for casual meals, it also doubles up as a food prep counter. Its flexibility and versatility allows the homeowners to keep things neat while giving them ample room to whip up elaborate meals.
Adjacent to the communal spaces, the original kitchen partition wall was torn down to make way for a cobalt-blue aluminium-framed partition wall. On the inside, the kitchen scores highly with its contemporary fittings and understated colour scheme. White acrylic laminates and wooden textures are heavily used here, which can be seen on the cabinetry flanking the stove top. “Specifically requested by the clients, the white tones on the upper cabinets detracts the space from feeling too heavy, while the wood tones on the lower row help to

ground the fitting. This colour combination is also very easy on the eyes when people are looking straight on at it,” Cadine explains. For the purpose of casual meals and food preparation, a breakfast bar counter was installed behind the sink. Similarly to the base of the sink it’s attached to, the base of the bar counter was also clad in cobalt blue, which matches the frame of the glass partition wall surrounding it. Additionally, the outer vertical surface of the counter was constructed out of slatted panels, giving the feature a tactile quality. Further back, the full-height storage cabinets were constructed using pocket doors, which can be opened up like a display shelf. By allowing the doors to be slotted within special crevices, visual clutter is minimised, keeping the utilitarian zone neat and tidy as a result. The master bedroom similarly adopts a restrained design style. Through its crisp white colour scheme, a sense of brightness and airiness manifests itself throughout the room, while an abundance of wood tones imbue the space with a cosy vibe. storage units, a generous King-sized bed sits atop a solid plywood platform, where items can be placed or retrieved through flip-up panels. Sharing the same area as the bedroom, the walk-in wardrobe is a cosy area thanks to the use of dark wood laminates. “We decided to use dark laminates as they provide a contrast to the
light wood flooring. We also used slatted panels within the design to add a visual punch to the space” Cadine elaborates. On the other end of the dual-key apartment, a separate area is solely dedicated for the homeowners’ father. Kitted out with comprehensive fittings and fixtures, Cadine was
simply required to elevate it to a more conducive and functional space for the occupant to go about his daily activities. For example, a high table and bar chair was included at the corner of the room for reading, and the sliding cabinet door over which the television set is mounted on allows the user watch daily programmes comfortably while sitting in his armchair. Meanwhile, the mustard yellow shade on the dual-tone wall injects a bright and cheery tone to the space. Coupling these bespoke touches and a thoughtful sense of space planning, Cadine has created a home is that comfortable and welcoming. And it is through her strong design sensibilities and dedication to detail that has resulted in a home that shines with beauty and practicality.

hether indoors or out, in a residential or commercial space, design inspiration can be found anywhere. For this family of four who scored themselves a four-bedroom unit in the new Coco Palms development, the source of inspiration for their home renovation project was gathered from the public spaces of the apartment complex they now call home. “This unit opens up into a large section of the blue lagoon pool sprinkled with sunken lounge chairs and ‘palm islands’, and the owners wanted the same ‘cool and breezy’ atmosphere
to be translated into their own apartment,” says Goy Zhenru, the designer-in-charge of the project. But while the design team – comprising Kulap Loetman and Dessy Anggadewiv along with Zhenru – was given a free-hand over the home’s new design, one specific request the owners had was that the apartment's new design should be integrated into the original layout and structure as much as possible. “This was because they wanted to fully utilise the brand new interior fixtures that came along with the unit,” the founder and lead architect of Goy Architects elaborates. As such, the design team decided to focus on using a combination of choice materials to transform the home into a tropical oasis. Situated along the vertical

Material palette aside, furniture pieces were also essential in enhancing the resort-like vibe of the home. This can be seen through the custom-made rattan armchair, where its distinctively modern yet bucolic look perfectly complements the adjoining cream-coloured sofa and the dark-toned feature wall. For storage purposes, an expansive television feature wall takes centrestage in the living room. With the intent of creating a subtle display shelf that

seamlessly integrates with the television set, the feature wall was constructed using dark metallic laminates. However, for an interesting design twist, several wood panels were tilted in varying degrees. Where the bedrooms were concerned, their original design saw them fitted out with reinforced concrete ledges against the window. A design fixture that would have been classified as an under-utilised space if left alone, the owners had also specifically requested for these ledges to be converted into usable spaces and cosy corners. In the master bedroom for example, they were converted into a cosy bay window and accompanying television feature wall. Noting the abundance of straight and rigid surfaces in the bedroom, the designers felt it necessary to incorporate a soft

The study's original configuration came with a bulky storage compartment that the family uses to store bulky items like their luggages. To fully maximise the available space, the owners asked the designers to convert the above space into a usable zone. Covered in a grey cushioned mat, the space is now used as a daybed. “Having a client who trusts in your process, and who are also very receptive to our design ideas, we felt very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with them,” Zhenru says about the overall design process, “In the end, it’s all about the special connection forged between the two parties that truly motivates and inspires our team to create beautiful and unique spaces for our clients.”

colours. This creates a relaxed environment where she can unwind after a long day at work. “Her downtime activities include hanging out with her friends in her apartment,” they add. “She also enjoys having jamming sessions at home.” For a calculated floor plan that caters to her design and lifestyle needs, the designers reshuffled the layouts for both levels. They turned to heavy demolition works to carve out an open area at the lower level. “The agenda was to play up the panoramic views of the balcony,” explain the designers of the high-level unit. Cosy and compact, this bedroom deck provides the perfect spot to host any overnight guest.
102 OCT
This open-plan form of living for the lower storey aligns with the homeowner’s interests of having music sessions at home and entertaining her guests. In fact, the designers took things to the next level by creating a bedroom deck right above the music corner. They say: “We wanted to design a centrepiece for the living area which fronts the music area.” Supported by powder coated mild steel I-beams, the deck fits the criteria of providing rest for overnight guests while affording the space with privacy.
As for her private quarters, the homeowner’s bedroom and study have been relegated to the upper level. Swathed in whitewashed walls and simple woodgrained accents, the bedroom emits a minimalist style which is easy to maintain. Glass railings outline this level and allow light and air to permeate through to promote the sense of space. “We extended the second level which used to house a bedroom,” explain the designers. “It was then hacked to make room for an openconcept bedroom.”
To accommodate the study and a walkin wardrobe, the extended area houses these amenities. An L-shaped row of cabinetry now fills the walls and offers a generous storage capacity. The designers even customised a corner compartment for the wardrobe. “We didn’t want to waste any inch of potential storage space”, they explain. “Many of such wardrobes do not maximise corner units when it actually holds ample space to stash away bulky items like luggage or bedding.” Positioning the custom-made study desk to face the balcony allows the homeowner to take in its riveting views at a vantage point. “It’s a space where she can just take some time to herself to contemplate on life or work,” the designers say.

MASTER BEDROOM Taking full advantage of the vertical space available in the master bedroom, a variety of storage units abound within the sleeping chamber. Surrounding the bed’s headboard, the originally unused space was converted into a row of storage units that are flanked by a pair of taller cabinets.

However, the vertical surfaces were covered over with a new coat of white paint to result in the home’s refreshing new look. Organic surfaces make an appearance here, in the form of an elegant wood-based dining table and chairs, as well as a handsome side table.
