In honour of Human Rights Day on the the 10th of December, ELSA Malta’s Social Policy and Human Rights office present their policy paper entitled ‘Criminal Justice Reform - a Rehabilitative Approach and a Way Forward’.
This policy paper delves into the re-examination of our Criminal Justice system - from an analysis of society itself, to the process of one’s imprisonment and life after imprisonment, as well as various concepts such as recidivism, parole and the situation of the accused through a human rights perspective.
Ultimately, the paper provides a total of 16 proposals which, in the opinion of this paper’s editors and writers, will contribute towards alleviating the difficult situation within the prison system and the criminal justice system as a whole.
We would like to express our gratitude to all writers, editors and reviewers involved, as without their dedication this project would have not been possible
