COMMUNITY CHEST: ECD PRACTITIONER DEVELOPMENT Learning in Reach is a Community Chest supported NGO based in Lavender Hill working towards expanding Early Childhood Development (ECD). Their foundation phase educational services includes mentorship programmes for parent and caregivers, resource sharing and cultivating community food gardens.

Despite the challenges of the national lockdown, in addition to already existing personal and environmental challenges, Learning in Reach expanded their offering to formal ECD practitioner training and we were happy to collaborate with them. We helped towards the sponsorship of 10 bursaries for ECD practitioners on a Montessori enrichment programme. In December 2020, the 10 students proudly graduated at an emotional ceremony at the V&A Waterfront. Community Chest is committed to changing the trajectory of Early Childhood Development and Education through partnerships like these.
