ARQ. RAFAEL RANGEL

The spaces are the reflection of the personality of its inhabitants. The guests upon entering your home have a first interpretation of what are the customs or tastes of the family. Before initiating a proposal to renew our spaces, it is essential to ask yourself: how we live, the number of people who inhabit the house, what we like, what areas we enjoy, what our customs are, how we look projected in the future. A self-analysis, because your home has to be a reflection of all those things.

To express our essence in the spaces, it is advisable to consider three essential elements: light, color, and finishes, which will help us renew the area in which we coexist with the whole set that will shape the decoration.

Natural light is the piece that will give light and color to the interior of our home, using as reference the geographical orientation of the house and the opening of the windows. A west-facing window is ideal to receive all the afternoon sun, making space much more orange or yellowish; in the other hand, the morning sun rays are usually cooler and whiter. It is a design alternative to know how to take advantage of the location of the house.

know that different types and intensities of light will generate changes in color perception. Artificial light dresses. Light can convey warmth, calm, joy, melancholy, or sensuality. We have to be careful of the possible combinations of the lights in the house so that they can accompany different sceneries of the environments.

Color gives us alternatives to express ourselves in our spaces. A neutral palette will provide a sense of calmness and deliver more classic and sober environments. If they are light tones, it will bring luminosity. On the other hand, the darker tones will add a bit of drama, intensity, and probably also warmer environments.

Surfaces have a close relationship with texture. texture is associated with the sense of touch, but but sight also perceives different things through different materials. If we want our home with a very natural environment, we have to choose materials that come from nature, such as wood, fabrics, canes, stones. In contrast, more industrial materials such as steel, glass, synthetic fabrics, and plastics represent a modern environment.

Representation in spaces with smoother and more reflective surfaces, such as mirrors, marbles, chrome, polished porcelain, and silks, tend to materialize colder environments. On the other

hand, more rugged and absorbent surfaces such as wood, stones, linens, hay, and carpets tend to make spaces much warmer.

The key to decoration is always to maintain the right balance, that is, not to mix all-in-one designs, but to preserve the moderation to fill each space with good taste.
