From the Editor

I have my fingers crossed that this is the last Elyi publication in Lockdown and that by the time the Sept/Oct magazine comes through your door we will be brimming with events and activities once more. Here’s hoping! This is issue no. 56 and July marks our 7th anniversary of producing the publication.

I am 'cautiously optimistic' that we will be getting back up to full strength delivery-wise as well, We have continued as normal in Ely but some of the village shops were unable to take the magazine for part of the lockdown but we anticipate that will be all back to ‘normal’ for this one onwards.

We currently leave copies of magazines in Witchford, Wilburton, Haddenham, Little Downham, Littleport, locations along the A10 bypass, Fordham, Soham and Burwell as well as restaurants and shops in Ely centre for people to pick up when they come in. If you live in Little Downham, Stuntney or Witchford and would like to volunteer to do a round do get in touch Tel: 07580689600. One kind reader has already volunteered to deliver 200 in Wicken, which is great. I’m afraid there aren’t funds to pay you but it’s a great way to get a bit of exercise!

I hope you enjoy this magazine. It’s fab to see some open air theatre and also that the Eel Festival is happening, albeit on a smaller scale. In spite of the existing restrictions our wonderful Ely organisers still have a good number of events planned for you - stay safe!
