Throughout this module I have been really challenged, learning totally new skills has been a great experience. I feel I have learnt so many valuable skills that I will, in no doubt, use throughout my fashion degree. I enjoyed the initial research stage as it allowed me to explore different styles of illustration, whether digital or hand rendered, or a combination of both. These sessions introduced me to Adobe Photoshop software of which I have always wanted to learn how to use. Although we only learnt the basics of this I will definitely use my own time to learn more skills so that I can use Photoshop to its full capacity. I have always loved fashion illustration, particularly the hand rendered styles of David Downton and Petra Dufkova. I found creating my own fashion illustrations very enjoyable, however, I found that the digitally rendered illustrations that we had to produce were very hard to master. I studied a few books and tutorials individually as I was finding the software challenging to use, and found that it suited my own style to combine hand and digital techniques to create my desired effect. Moving on to producing our own product flats for our designs in our product range, I felt the sessions learning how to use Adobe Illustrator where really very helpful, particularly in how to control and manipulate the vector lines. Although this skill took me quite sometime to get to grips with, after much practice I produced 6 product flats of my own designs, of which I am very pleased with. Overall, I feel that with no skills I had in using the software at the begining of this module, I feel very proud of the work I have produced. Ironically, towards the deadline to this module, I feel much more comfortable in producing more ambitious and innovative digital illustrations. With this I plan to continue developing my knowledge, learning more skills in fashion new technologies.
