Time is running out for you to take part in this neighborly tournament.

It’s not too late to sign up for the inaugural LCP Member/Guest Golf Tournament! If you love golf and love a little friendly competition, bring a golfing partner and go clubbing with your friends and neighbors.

“Lake Cove Pointe has many avid golfers, so we thought a little tournament would be a fun way to get everyone together,” says Tiffany Jensen, the event’s organizer.

The tournament will be Sept. 18 at Orange County National—a local favorite and one of the best courses in Orlando. Teams can be made up of an LCP resident and their guest, or of two LCP residents. If you don't have a guest to bring, that's OK too. Lunch buffet will be provided at OCN immediately after.

A Mountain High Enough

Cher Lessard instructs us on mountain pose to keep us mindful this summer.

Mountain Pose (tadasana) is full of power, symmetry, and stability. What seems like a simple stance from the outside actually engages your body and mind when you lean into the posture. Here’s how to do it: • Stand on your mat, feet hip-width apart, toes facing forward, with your arms at your sides, hands facing your body. • Lift your toes off the mat and spread them wide, returning them one by one back to the mat. Press all the corners of your feet into the mat. • Stack knees over ankles, hips over knees, and shoulders over hips. Engage your thighs, lifting your knee caps. • Elongate the top of your head toward the ceiling and tuck your chin slightly. Bring your shoulder blades back and down away from your ears, (like you are pinching an apple between your shoulder blades). • Spread your fingers and reach toward the mat. • Focus on a stationary object at eye level.

Breathe deeply. Imagine you are a mountain and embody all of the mountain’s qualities.

Question: What do you love about living in Lake Cove Pointe?

JIM CAMPBELL

Golf Nut

We first moved in in 2003, and we’ve watched it grow. It’s totally unbelievable being able to talk to and help one another without having to ask.

DONNA ROSSMORE

Style Mom

We’ve been here 15 years. We love the growth of our street, the new conservation area. It’s a place where everyone wants to live.

RICHARD GIBSON

Amazing Dad

I have awesome neighbors. The people living around me and in the neighborhood are great.

DANIELLE COX

Serial Reader Specialist

I love hanging out with the neighbors. We’ve got the party street, so that’s the part we enjoy the most.

JEFF IANNUZZI

My Neighbor’s Beer-Tester

Our neighbors are phenomenal. We love being close to downtown, and to the baseball fields. And I love that nobody knows we’re back here!

RECOMMENDATIONS

Watch

Mare of Easttown on HBOMax is exceptional. Kate Winslet heads up an excellent cast in this murder mystery that leaves you guessing until the end.

The story centers around Mare Sheehan, a detective in a small Pennsylvania town who investigates a murder. Through the investigation, the show examines the community and how family relationships and the past can influence the present.

Lauren Powers may be crazy about her husband, kids, and puppies, but she is also passionate about many charitable causes, including pet rescue and education.

Read

I’m hooked on books by Charles Martin. His writing style brings each environment to life. I like that his endings always have a surprise twist.

He tackles and addresses social issues, health issues, and human trafficking issues and gently reminds the reader that no one is exempt. I absolutely fell in love with When Crickets Cry, a gutwrenching story that still provided avenues for love and lasting hope in mankind. Right now I am reading The Letter Keeper. Try one of his books—I have loved all of them.

A new member of the ARB, Kay Black has a deep love of education, reading, and her family—most of all her adorable granddaughter.

Listen

SmartLess with Jason Bateman is hilarious! And we are also huge Ozark fans if you’re looking for a great show.

You can usually hear us jamming out on the golf cart to Pepper, Irration, Slightly Stoopid, and any other fun beach music.

Between her kids, husband, and real estate job, you might only see Kaitlin LaMacchia in a blur as she cruises by in her golf cart.

Hello, my name is Marley. I’m a 13-year-old Mi-Ki and a very smol, handsome boy. At my age, I enjoy the simple things, like going to bed at exactly 10 p.m. and expecting my humans, John and Beckie, to go to bed with me.

I love humans, and not just my humans. I was a certified therapy dog for seven years with Canine Crusaders. I visited a local nursing home every week and loved making everyone smile.

Nowadays, I take things easy. More than anything, I love the golf cart. Every Friday night, I chase my tail and whine until my humans pick me up and take me for a ride in the crisp night air. If you see me on one of my rides, be sure to say hello.
