Medical Tourism in Mexico: A Choice for the United States According to estimates, the US population in 2012 reached 313.9 million people, of which approximately 23.7% are under 18 and 13.3% are 65 and over. It is interesting to note that 16.7% of the population is of Latin origin. In the US the leading insurance companies have policies that enable their customers to receive medical treatment abroad.
The United States expenditure on health accounts for 40% of the global health spending, reaching 2,579 billion dollars in 2010.
