Bilateral trade is understandably limited, ranging in recent years up to about US$ 15-25 million. In 2017, total trade was US$ 13.99 million with exports from India totalling US$ 12.49 million USD and imports from Belize of US$ 1.5 million. Indian exports were mainly textiles, organic chemicals, pharmaceuticals & auto parts, and imports were mainly miscellaneous chemical products. Certain sectors of the Belizean economy such as tourism, fishery and food processing offer good potential for Indian investors. The pharmaceuticals sector may also be of interest to Indian companies based in Latin America to expand their distribution network to Belize. India and Belize also took another milestone step recently. The two nations signed the Visa Waiver agreement for the holders of Diplomatic and Service/Official Passports on 18 September, 2017 in Belize City. The agreement came into force recently from 30 April, 2018. This would greatly enhance the exchange of people at governmental levels between the two countries. Belize is also important because of the Indian diaspora. Belize has over 500 strong Indian business community, mainly Sindhis, that migrated there from India in the recent decades, and constitute a valuable link between Belize and India. Together with dependants, the community is about is about 1500 individuals of which roughly 200 are NRIs and rest PIOs. There are two community organisations, viz., the Belize Indian Merchants Association (BIMA) based in the Corozal Free Trade Zone and the Belize Indian Community (BIC) based in Belize City. Both have their own temples which act as community centres for the larger cultural needs of the community.

Ratha Yatra in Mexico City

had a near-death experience in a bus accident in her teenage but the passion within could not be stopped. With over 30 operations and several broken ribs and bones, Frida focussed on her painting skills to later become one of the most popular international artists. Falling into the category of Mexican muralism and Revolutionary art, Frida’s paintings were biographical in nature. She deviated her art from intricate patterns of Mexican art to bold and neat drawings. She also included Catholic and Jewish themes in her art. Popular for painting self-portraits and her life experiences on canvas, Frida’s art also focussed on Mexican folk culture and colours. She is celebrated in Mexico for her attention to Mexican and indigenous culture and by feminists for her depiction of the female experience and form. Frida once said, “I paint myself because I am often alone and I am the subject I know best.” Interiors inspired by Frida Kahlo’s paintings are raiding the Indian interiors market and we are not complaining at all. They look beautiful, bold, inspirational and eclectic. Blue walls, big bold floral prints, outlandish colour combinations, and bright-coloured furniture and accents make up for an interesting Kahlo-inspired theme. Frida Kahlo has a brave and an inspiring life story which is impersonated in interiors through bold and atypical colours of walls. From yellow and red to green and purple, you can pick the colour of your choice and paint the walls of your terrace or rooms. Accent it with contrasting displays to bring in the Mexican flavour. Do not confuse it with bohemian decor, interiors inspired by Frida Kahlo have a taste for artistic aesthetics. The colour blends, hues and genres of paintings selected have deep references to Kahlo’s paintings. If you do not wish to indulge too much into the ‘art’, you can put up an assemblage of framed quotes and images, eye-block with a floral chaise lounge, or create a mix of patterns. Out of approximately 200 paintings by Frida Kahlo, about 55 are self-portraits. Her paintings are like a classic poetry, they talk of life, love and lessons learnt and are also full of life and colours. If you do not want to experiment too much with your decor, just get in self-portraits of the surreal artist. Frida Kahlo dominating interiors after 64 years
Interior trends are at their experimental best. Currently, there are no rules of decor and the key point to do a house is to bring in focus the personality of its owners. People experiment with bold and passionate interiors and going brash and outlandish is in vogue. A major influence for this trend is inspired by Mexican surrealist painter Frida Kahlo. She painted on large canvas the conceptual art that conveyed life messages of love and pain. After 64 years of the painter's death, interior artists have recalled the genre and the fad is growing big in Indian decor markets too. Who was Frida Kahlo? Wife to the popular Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, Frida mostly painted self-portraits that were an expression of her life and pain. Her paintings were known for bold, passionate and vibrant colours. She suffered with polio as a child and
