Constitution Day of India

The Constitution Day is celebrated on 26 November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1949. The Constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950. The original manuscript of the Constitution was handwritten by the renowned calligraphist Prem Behari Narain Raizada.

Established in 1921, the Parliament Library is a rich repository of Indian heritage and is the second largest library in India.

Indian Constitution is the longest written constitution of any sovereign country in the world and came into force on 26/01/1950.

After the constitution draft was prepared, it was put for debate and was finalized after more than 2000 amendments.

Ambassador of India meets the elected Head of the Government of Mexico City In the press conference at the transition house, she expressed her government's interest in collaborating with the various Indian companies that have developed these projects. In addition, talking about the river clean-up program initiated in India, she said "we are interested in knowing what technologies they are using for it,”. On the cultural co-operation, she mentioned "they have already developed different activities in Mexico City with the current government and we are going to give continuity, so we have invited them to the festivals to be held in the capital."

The elected head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum stated that there will be close collaboration on issues of mobility, environmental care and culture between India and Mexico City.

Ambassador Pardeshi announced that India will participate in fairs, film festivals, theatre and dances in Mexico. The next Secretaries of Mobility, Environment and Culture of the city, Andrés Lajous, Marina Robles and José Alfonso Suárez del Real as well as representatives of the Indian Embassy in Mexico participated in the meeting. After meeting with the Ambassador of India, Muktesh Pardeshi, she said that the Government of Mexico City is very interested in the relationship with India as it looks forward to gain from the experience of India in developing vehicles using hybrids fuels.

India Week on TV Capital 21 The Mexican Channel, TV Capital 21, launched an India Special Week with segments about the diversity of Indian culture, cuisine and heritage. Ambassador Muktesh Pardeshi inaugurated the India Week with talk on importance of India-Mexico relations.

TRADE

Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Commercial Representative discussed the biateral commercial relations between India and Mexico and the vast opportunities to enhance trade between both economies.

CULTURE

Mr. Ram Mahesh, Acting Director GTICC talked about Gurudev Tagore Indian Cultural Centre that offers dance, music, Hindi, Sanskrit, yoga and cooking lessons on a regular basis. Indologist Wendy Phillips, a Professor at UNAM spoke about Indian mythology and the rich culture associated with the mythology.

CUISINE

Mr. Bonty Singh, owner of Indian restaurant “Delhi Darbar” in Mexico City delivered lessons on Indian gastronomy. His programme provided easy ways to cook Indian delicacies like Pakora, Masala Dosa, Mutton Curry and Chicken Curry.

DANCES

Mariana Flores presented the cultural heritage of Southern India with the traditional dance Mohiniyattam. Sak-Nikté Romero fue la encargada de demostrar la danza Odissi.

MUSIC

Musician Sidartha Siliceo spoke about the Indian classical musical instrument Sitar and its legacy in India. Mr. Radheshyam Sharma, a distinguished Tabla player taught the nuances to play Tabla in the segment on music.

LANGUAGE

Hindi teacher at the GTICC, Yogendra Sharma shared several phrases and words so that viewers and hosts could learn basic Hindi, through the "Learn Hindi in 5 Minutes" section.

TOURISM

Mrs. Carmen Morgana Vázquez, Administrative Manager of “The India Travel Life” talked about tourism in India and Mrs. Mariana Casanova discussed the different techniques of textile in India.

Leather Expo The Council of Leather Exports, India organized a Expo on leather

products with the support of the Embassy in Leon, Guanajuato on 16 Nov, 2018. Nine Indian companies participated in the Expo. In this sector, Mexico imports over USD 2.2 billion. Mexico is being seen as a great opportunity for Indian leather industry.

Busca India clientes guanajuatenses. Un grupo de quince fabricantes del sector cuero-calzado expusieron sus creaciones ante potenciales clientes del Estado. Mukhtarul Amin, Ministro de Comercio e Industria en el Gobierno de India, señaló que México es un mercado nuevo para ellos, esta es la primera vez que acuden empresas indias de este sector. De acuerdo con el representante, las importaciones de México en productos de piel fueron de 2 mil 270 millones de dólares durante 2017, de este importe India tuvo una participación apenas del 0.85%. En este primer encuentro concretaron citas con 36 empresas del Estado, detalló el Ministro de Comercio. “Estoy seguro que la próxima vez que vengan habrá más número de ventas”. El comercio entre las dos naciones puede aumentar señaló Amin y dijo que México está importando mucho cuero, pero del mercado indio es menos del 1%, esta brecha es la que estarían buscando acortar. En contraste los productores de piel en India pueden comprar en México, a través de coinversiones, considerando que India es el segundo país con más población en el mundo, explicó Amin. El mercado de consumo indio busca zapato para caballero de alta calidad, existe una alta demanda en Bombay, Nueva Dheli, Chennai y Hyderabad, detalló. En promedio India importa el 20% de su consumo, principalmente de Italia, Turquía, Portugal. “Guanajuato tienen un alto potencial de entrar al mercado de India”, precisó Amin.

El académico Shyama Prasad Ganguly recibe la “Orden Mexicana del Águila Azteca”

Ambassador Muktesh Pardeshi visited Patzcuaro for celebrations of Dia de Muertos

Durante la semana cultural “La India recuerda a Octavio Paz”, el académico Shyama Prasad Ganguly recibió de manos de la Embajadora de México en India, Melba Pría, la “Orden Mexicana del Águila Azteca”, la más alta condecoración que otorga el Gobierno mexicano a un extranjero. El académico cuenta con 40 años de trayectoria como profesor de estudios latinoamericanos y españoles es el principal referente en India de la lengua española. Durante el evento, expresó un gran afecto por México, donde concretó parte de sus estudios.

The Mexican tradition of welcoming the dead at 1.00 AM with a carnival of scents, tastes and love, in which the living and the dead coexist brings peace and harmony to all.

What is Dia de Muertos? Dia de Muertos or Day of the Dead is a Mexican festival celebrated throughout Mexico over three days, starting on the 31st of October. The celebrations of this festival focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for friends and family members who have died and help support their spiritual journey. In 2008, the tradition was inscribed in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. The grand ritual takes place in many of the indigenous communities in the area around Lake Pátzcuaro, Michoacán.

India recuerda a Octavio Paz

La India recordó hoy con poesía, carteles y anécdotas al mexicano Octavio Paz, Premio Nobel de Literatura, este acto conmemora su adiós a Delhi hace 50 años, cuando en 1968 dimitió de su puesto como embajador. La inauguración de la muestra con 48 carteles de diseñadores mexicanos e indios abrió la semana cultural en Nueva Delhi "La India recuerda a Octavio Paz", con el propósito de destacar la influencia mutua que supuso para el país asiático y el escritor su estancia en la capital entre 1962 y 1968. Paz dejó plasmadas en sus textos, tanto en verso como en prosa, las experiencias vividas durante esos seis años, como el libro de poemas "Ladera este" (1969), la narrativa "El mono gramático" (1975) o el posterior ensayo "Vislumbres de la India" (1995).

Diwali 2018

Ambassador Muktesh Pardeshi, Mrs. Rakhi Pardeshi and Embassy officials joined the Indian Community for the celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights on 17 November at Army Club in Mexico City. Diwali is one of the most important community festivals of India. The Indian Association of Mexico had organized a grand celebration of Diwali 2018. Indian music artists Akhtar brothers enthralled the audience with Bollywood hits.

Bollywood movie “Thugs of Hindustan” Bollywood film “Thugs of Hindostan” was screened at Cinemex Galerias on November 11th. Embassy officials and Indian community enjoyed themselves at the screening of the movie organized by the Indian Association of Mexico. The film revolves around the story of a fierce group of pirates in western India who revolted against the British Rule in India.

La Señora Pardeshi habló acerca de las conexiones culturales gastronómicas de India y México en el Centro de Estudiso Tecnológicos Industrial y de Servicios.

A.C.D. Christmas Charity Bazaar ACD organized a pre-Christmas shopping extravaganza at the India House, Residence of Indian Ambassador in Mexico on 22 November. The Bazaar had 48 vendors selling food,clothes,jewellery,chocolates,paintings and handicrafts from all over the world. This Bazaar heralded the Christmas season with a huge participation for the cause of charity.

Ambassador Muktesh Pardeshi met Ms. Kia Scherr, an american whose husband and 13 year old daughter were killed at Oberoi Hotel in the Mumbai terrorist attacks of 26/11. Ms.Kia Scherr runs an organization One Life Alliance to create peace education programs to prevent violence and terrorism.Ambassador Muktesh Pardeshi expressed solidarity to the bereaved families.
