BUOY UP
Sunday 19 March
Friday 16 June, 8pm – 9pm, £10 / £8 Choreographed and performed by Katherine Hall
Vulnerability is not weakness it is strength. Fuelled Dance Theatre would like to share with you their developments of a new piece. Challenging themselves and audiences into thinking about how we see ourselves, embracing the weakness and the strengths in each other, through the means of storytelling and contemporary dance.
Dirty Rebirth (Work in progress)
BUOY UP is a speaking dance; a taking of action, a protest that voices the responsibilities of being a life guard. Personal and shared stories on giving care, being care and finding care are exposed through a weaving of text and movement to reflect on the motions of being on guard. Not just having a body but wanting a body to survive.
Sunday 14 May. For 16+ years. May cause offence. Being reborn is often imagined as a spiritual, enlightening experience. As part of the human condition we are required to perpetually reinvent ourselves, to grow and evolve to new forms. This, however, is not often done in the light. The reality is these moments happen in the darkest of places, where directions have no meaning and internal struggles amount to the psyche being ripped apart. This is when you experience a Dirty Rebirth.
Come as you are (Work in progress) Sunday 11 June For 18+ years. May cause offence. Scarlett Elizabeth Turner, artistic director of Fuelled Dance Theatre will be performing a physical theatre solo just this once. Exploring self struggles of gender stereotypes and sexuality in the form of a life journey from her childhood all the way through till her life now. Asking questions of our right to be accepted for who we are and not what society expects us to be. 32
I M AGE : She’s 12
She’s 12 (Work in progress) Sunday 9 July For 16+ years. May cause offence In this fun, relatable, and heart-warming piece, Nadine Knew explores what it is like to be a 12 year old female in today’s society; through a series of autobiographical improvised sections, she addresses the sexualisation of young women and girls, the pressure society puts on females to wear makeup, and the special bond between sisters.
Chicas Locas & Skytribe Burlesque Showcase Saturday 11 March and Saturday 10 June, 8pm – 10.30pm, £7 each event For 16+ years A glamorous night of burlesque with Doe Demure’s group, the Chicas Locas from Skytribe Dance Studio. CLAY Sunday 7 May, 7.30pm – 8.30pm, £10 / £8 For 12+ years In CLAY Asha Thomas, American contemporary dancer and Yinka Esi Graves, British flamenco dancer, draw from their collective memory and experiences to create a unique language between them. One dancer of half Jamaican and Ghanaian descent and the other from a long line of Southern Baptist preachers, explore the connections between who they believe themselves to be, and the unconscious parts that make up who they are. It is the place where this duo’s dance influences cross that evokes memories of distant lands, all to the unique soundscape of flamenco and electric guitarist Guillermo Guillén.

A half day symposium reaching out to disabled dancers from BAME communities, putting forward an agenda for change, inclusion and ultimately visibility within the sector and beyond. The event is for producers, funders and creative practitioners, to offer an opportunity to discuss the key barriers that marginalise BAME artists from taking centre stage. The aim of the programme is to showcase best practice from the sector, alongside creating room for discussion and debate the panel will include local, national and international practitioners and will be followed by a networking opportunity.
