AP * Prep in all four levels!

T’es branché? is a unique French program because preparation for the AP French Language and Culture exam begins at level one and extends through level four – giving your students an abundance of practice! The AP French Language and Culture exam emphasizes the three modes of communication: interpersonal, presentational, and interpretive. Students are expected to have an overall cultural awareness of the francophone world by learning from authentic print, audio, and video. The exam also incorporates six core themes presented by the College Board. Every unit of T’es branché? is organized into a central theme with three lessons all of which contain elements of AP preparation. Unit features include: • Question centrale: The essential question in each unit. • Points de depart: Culture readings that explain practices in French-speaking locations; includes Produits and Perspectives sections. In La culture sur place, students actively investigate francophone cultures. • Rencontres culturelles and Rendez-vous à Nice: Filmed dialogues and video series, and EMC’s online i-Culture for authentic listening and viewing. • Stratégies communicatives: Help students use the three modes of communication more effectively. • Communiquez: Indicates abundant activities designed to provide communicative practice. • Lecture thématiques and Du côté des médias: Authentic texts from the French-speaking world. • Projets finaux: Students build communities (Communautés en ligne), make connections (Connexions par Internet), and communicate in French to complete a French-based project (Passez à l’action!) • Évaluation: Opportunities to demonstrate proficiency in four skills and explain cultural comparisons. • Bilan cumulatif: A cumulative self-assessment formatted in AP style in listening, reading, writing, composition, and speaking. • Pre-AP listening: Students hear a short listening segment and answer multiple-choice questions as on the AP test. If they get any of the questions wrong, they can then see and hear the video in order to have a more successful listening experience.
