Materials to Promote New Renovation We have created a comprehensive marketing strategy to help you promote your community’s renovations. From basic renovations that include new carpet, paint and minimal furniture additions to extravagant one million dollar renovations. These tools can be found on the Emeritus Intranet Site (E&Me) and samples have been included. Below you will find a step by step process including what is available, how to customize and when to utilize. Some items have been set-up in a word file to make it easy for your community to customize as needed and send out to the local market. Should you need any help customizing the pieces, please contact your RDSM or the Seattle Marketing Department (contact info below). We have created instructions for you to assist with the customization of these pieces titled Instructions for Editing Flyers. Step One: Pardon Our Dust Flyer & Poster – flyer can be customized and printed locally to post in the community (i.e. in elevators, on doors, etc.). Poster can be printed locally on foam board and placed on an easel in your lobby. Step Two: Design Board – Communities going through larger renovations will receive a design board from our Corporate Interior Design team. Contact Kevin Swanson in the Seattle office for more information. Place Design Board on an easel in your lobby next to the Pardon Our Dust poster. Step Three: Flyer for Prospects/Referral Sources – flyer can be customized and printed locally to mail to open leads in lead database. Step Four: E-Mail Template – template is similar to flyer and can be sent electronically to all open leads in lead database. Step Five: Ad Template – template can be customized and sent to local media for placement. Follow the step-by-step instructions found on the Advertising Insertion Order Form for proper approval process. Step Six: Direct Mail Template – template can be customized and sent to your lead database and a purchased mailing list. Contact CorpMarketing@emeritus.com to get this process started. How to Advertise your New Renovation if Hosting a Grand Re-Opening Step One: Work with your Regional Director of Sales & Marketing or Regional Director of Operations to find out the grand opening budget available to advertise your renovations. Step Two: Put together a list of local newspapers, magazines and radio stations that you are interested in advertising within your local market to promote your new renovations. Step Three: Contact your local newspapers, magazines and radio stations from your list to gather costs for advertising. Step Four: Schedule a time with your Regional Director of Sales & Marketing or your Regional Director of Operations to go over the costs to advertise. Plan your advertising campaign (ad run dates, sizes) based on the available budget. Utilize the Media Plan Template to plan out the advertising insertion dates, costs and ad sizes. Note: All contracts and credit applications need to be sent to CorpMarketing@emeritus.com. Step Five: Complete the Advertising Insertion Order Form. One Advertising Insertion Order Form needs to be completed for each newspaper, magazine or radio station that you wish to advertise in. Note: Be sure to include “Million Dollar Renovation� in the Ad Title/Template field. If promoting your Grand Re-Opening, be sure to include your event details in the Comments field. Step Six: Forward completed form to your VPSM/VPO and ask them to submit the form(s) along with their approval to CorpMarketing@emeritus.com. Note: We need 72 hours from the time we receive VPSM/VPO approval to complete your ads. Step Seven: Once the Advertising Insertion Order Form(s) are sent to CorpMarketing@emeritus.com, the Seattle Marketing department will work with you to get your ads/radio spots completed.

Grand Opening Toolkit Million Dollar Renovation Tips for Sending Out Your Press Release to Your Local Media Customizing your press release • Be sure to answer the 5 W’s (who, what, when, where and why). • Avoid using internal terminology that the public does not know. • Whenever possible, include a quote from management commenting on why this news is important. • Keep the press release to 4 paragraphs including the “About the Company” section, 12 point font, double spaced. • Do not attach photos to the initial email with the release. Let the reporter know that if they are interested you can provide them.
