The Northeast-10 Conference The Northeast-10 Conference is an NCAA Division II conference that was established in 1979. The NE-10 currently consists of 16 institutions throughout the Northeast including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.
the Northeast-10 saw three teams claim national championships. First, the Southern New Hampshire University men’s soccer program won the NCAA Championship this past December, followed by the Bentley University women’s basketball team claiming its first-ever title in March to cap an undefeated season. The Adelphi University women’s lacrosse program made it No. 3 after defeating Lock Haven, 7-5, in the title game in May.
The institutions that make up the Northeast-10 include Adelphi University (Garden City, N.Y.), American International College (Springfield, Mass.), Assumption College (Worcester, Mass.), Bentley University (Waltham, Mass.), Franklin Pierce University (Rindge, N.H.), Le Moyne College (Syracuse, N.Y.), LIU Post (Brookeville, N.Y.), Merrimack College (North Andover, Mass.), University of New Haven (West Haven, CT), Pace University (Pleasantville, N.Y.), Saint Anselm College (Colchester, VT), College of Saint Rose (Albany, N.Y.), Southern Connecticut State University (New Haven, CT), Southern New Hampshire University (Manchester, NH) and Stonehill College (Easton, Mass.).
A pair of Southern Connecticut State University studentathletes also won national championhips this past winter, as Nick Lebron won the individual national title in the haptathlon at the 2014 Men’s NCAA Division II Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship and Raymond Cswerko finished first in the 400 IM at the 2014 NCAA Division II Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship. From the field of play to inside the classroom, the Northeast-10 honored a number of student-athletes for their academic accomplishments. Over 50 percent of all conference student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA throughout the 2012-13 academic year and were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll as a result. An astounding 138 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall before 184 reached the benchmark in the spring. The Northeast-10 also honored 247 student-athletes as members of its academic all-conference teams.
The 16 member institutions are spread geographically from Syracuse, New York to Boston, Massachusetts and Burlington, Vermont to Long Island, New York. Many of the members are located in or around the urban metropolitan areas of Albany, Boston, New Haven, Worcester and New York. The conference was proud to welcome Adelphi University (2009) and LIU Post (2013) in its latest expansions, thus adding to the powerful union of strong academic and athletic colleges and universities. The Northeast-10 has evolved into a membership committed to competitive athletics programs that emphasize the education on and off the field of its more than 5,500 student athletes.
The Northeast-10 also remains focused on its community endeavors, as its fundraising donations for Make-A-Wish is more than any other Division II conference in the country the past decade. The conference also announced a formal partnership last fall with Team IMPACT, a non-profit organization that matches children with life-threatening illnesses with college sports teams. Currently, more than 40 Northeast-10 programs are currently matched with a Team IMPACT child.
Among the many accomplishments of these institutions are NCAA Division II National Championships in women’s basketball, field hockey, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s track & field and men’s and men’s and women’s swimming and diving. The Northeast-10 has evolved into a membership committed to competitive athletics programs that emphasize the education, both on and off the field, of more than 6,000 student athletes. Among the many accomplishments of these institutions are NCAA Division II national championships in women’s basketball, women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s track and field, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving.
Through the establishment and enforcement of regulations, the conference aims to encourage policies that enable intercollegiate athletics programs to contribute to and be considered an integral part of the total educational offerings at our member institutions. The Northeast-10 can look to a long history of success including the growth from seven original member institutions to more than double its size 34 years later, the contention for and winning of multiple national championships, and the recognition of student-athlete performances off the field and in the classroom.
The conference is coming off a banner season in 2013-14, as

Adelphi had three girls receive AllNortheast-10 honors, three receive ECAC honors (Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year), 11 receiving National Academic Honors, and one NFHCA second-team All-American. The 2008 season mark the return of field hockey as a varsity sport after a 25-year hiatus. O’Connor guided her squad to a 3-7 season as an independent in its inaugural campaign. The team netted 21 goals and posted a 2.10 goal/game average. O’Connor’s team earned NFHCA Academic recognition as well as having 13 players garnering individual honors.
At the high school level, O’Connor achieved unparalleled success, posting a record of 146-18-21 that included nine league championships. She is also a member of the Long Island Field Hockey Coaches Hall of Fame (1990) and Carle Place High School Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach. O’Connor also coached varsity lacrosse at Carle Place, capturing five New York state titles and is also a member of the New York Metropolitan and Long Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame (2006). In addition, she has been honored with the Hofstra University Outstanding Contributions to High School Girls’ Athletics award and was a National High school Coach of the Year nominee in 1988. A long time teacher and administrator, O’Connor is no stranger to Long Island schools, having spent time as a special education teacher at John Adams High School, an Athletic Director at Sewanhaka High School, an Assistant Principal and Principal at Floral Park Memorial Jr. Sr. High School and most recently as superintendent for Personnel and Administration for the Sewanhaka High School District.

• Adjacent to the Motamed Field is a practice space. • The tennis courts are located just beyond this field and anchors the complex in one contiguous area. • All-weather surface material to allow for year-round practice and competition. • Four main light standards help illuminate the field for evening training and competition, as well as working media and game operations. The Outdoor Sports Complex features Motamed Field, which is the home for the Adelphi men’s and women’s soccer, lacrosse and field hockey programs.
• A heated/air-conditioned Press Box is located at the top of the stadium seats. Located midfield, the press box accommodates sports information, working media and game operations, which maintains the scoreboard and public address sound system. • The Panthers’ live in-game stats of soccer, lacrosse and field hockey events originates out of the press box. • Addition of a one-level parking structure for over 300 cars below the field.

Long Island There’s more than plenty to do on Long Island. Arts, culture, history, beaches, golf and shopping. There are five distinctive regions in Long Island North Shore, otherwise known as the Gold Coast, with dozens of historic sites dating back to colonial days and Gatsby-era mansions . South Shore, the Island’s spectator sports and entertainment center, with world-famous Jones and Fire Island Beaches, and home to the New York Islanders. Central Suffolk, with beautiful forests and natural
inlets, the world’s largest factory outlet center and a huge water park. North Fork, with an array of vineyards, waterfront ports and farm stands. South Fork, widely known as “The Hamptons,” with its pristine beaches and exclusive villages.
