Takeaways from the Audit: Many agencies for the basic structure for a website offering services which are a home page, about, services, clients and contact Many of the more established agencies / ones offering a wide range of services offer a blog that matches up with a newsletter for extended reading Many agencies offer a newsletter or email subscription The more engaging websites are the ones with rich media content and are interactive Agencies have a consistent style with website design - simple, clean and easy navigable Many agencies post similar content with the post popular being, agency life, client work, current projects, quotes and behind the scenes - These also are seen to be the most engaging topics with audiences • Many agencies have a theme / colour scheme for their social media often sticking to brand colours • • • • • •

Inspiration for website: This audit has allowed me to study not only my competitors but larger agencies allowing me to gain inspiration and ideas about what to put on. My website to allow for maximum cliental. What really stood out personally to me was that many agencies if not all of them where offering a newsletter subscription / emails sent to your inbox on free tips for social media and industry news that would be relevant to audiences wanting to boost marketing prospects. As well as offering free advice these newsletters if done right can be engaging and give your brand a more personal connection with potential clients as I’ve noticed that the more engaging / personal websites are the ones that I have connected better with and I think that’s really important. What I also found really interesting is that strong, high quality images make for the best websites and can transform a basic template into the best website ever. Finally, I really engaged with the free audit service that social strategy provided - I think by offering this free service to clients you can really show them

what you can offer them and sell them before they even make a decision to go with you. This audit has given me inspiration and pointers yo take forward when building my own site. Key Points to take forward: • • • • •

Research, Write and Create a newsletter on engaging topics, industry news and tips for social media Offer a free Social Media and Website Audit Start a blog that feeds into the newsletter Ensure high quality, engaging pages are displayed on the site Ensure the website adhere’s to brand colours and aesthetic

WEB SITE MOCK-UPS By carry out a website audit on already established creative agencies I was able to define what pages I will have on my site. As well as a few additional pages that came from audit research such as: free social media and website audit and a subscriber newsletter. During my innovation portfolio I did a deep dive analysis on website templates on six and square-space - I decided to look at templates as I am a first time website creator I wanted the flexibility to edit and build but the ease of having all the essentials already there as I have no idea about coding. Alongside looking at templates I also looked at websites that where engaging, user-friendly and responsive. Looking back at this research I created my own website mock-up and used I used a fully editable template to create a site that matched the initial drawings.

IMAGES FOR SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEBSITE I worked with first year FMM (Molly, Katy and Darcey) to shoot my own images for the website, the first years where so up for helping and really passionate about creating fresh content. We made moodboards and brain stormed ideas and went through like what was required from the shoot etc. Below is a shot list from the shoot outlining shoots that we needed to get on the day as well as a final moodpboard created with the first years and a prop list.

FINAL IMAGES

Overall I am super happy with the outcome. The colours perfectly fit my brand and set the vibe for the website. Before adding my own images to the site I used royalty free images from Upsplash.

WHY I TOOK OUT EVENTS AS A SERVICE I originally intended to offer event organisation as an additional service but I felt my skills where minimal and I didn’t feel offering another service where I wasn’t as confident would value my business and instead was doing it because it was a popular service offered by competitors. Instead I replaced the events service with a blog that complimented my monthly newsletter. A blog was a popular addition to websites when doing research on other creative agencies and I personally felt it gave the site and 96 Social more personality as it allowed me to showcase my writing skills and further establish my tone of voice. By featuring a teaser of the interview on my newsletter with links to the website for the full-version it allowed for cross platform and the hope of someone taking a further look into my new business. Blog posts that will feature will be: • Interviews with local businesses in the South West who are doing something great and deserve recognition - “SPOTLIGHT ON” a regular named feature • Behind the scenes of 96 Social - Updates on what we’ve been doing • Future trends to watch out for • Guest blogs from fellow creatives - Support your local creatives The first blog will be “SPOTLIGHT ON” Rewire Clothing - An up-cycled fashion label who drive for sustainability, saving the planet and tasing awareness on the damage of fast fashion. The first post will be an interview with Courtney the founder and feature images of her brand. Th In the future I hope to grow 96 Social to the stage that allows me to hire likeminded fellow creatives that can help me offer more services for my clients such as web design and development, graphic design, content creation and events. Turning 96 Social into a fully-functioning, one-stop shop creative agency. REWIRE CLOTHING - INTERVIEW I chose to do the first feature of “SPOTLIGHT ON” on Rewire Clothing as I think it has a very personal message and the topic of sustainability is a very much NOW topic that has lots of people talking and speaking out about making changes. By interviewing Courtney I hope to spread awareness of her South West based brand, message and ultimately drive interest to her work.

I set out seven questions and emailed Courtney for her response questions can be found in the email below

COLLABORATIONS: ILLUSTRATION - HAZ DAVIES @h.a.z.d.a.v

I was sent Haz’s profile on Instagram after putting a call out for illustrators on my Instagram story and immediately clicked with her work. I messaged via DM as shown in the above screenshots and sent her images of her own work that I liked the style of. I explained that I wanted the illustration to be fun and represent of me and 96 social as a brand. I also included images of myself to work from in an attached email I I felt having an illustration on my website instead of a picture of me was more creative, fun and coherent to the intentions outlined in my innovation portfolio. Alongside using this illustration as part of my final major project I have also used it in the personal development module as self-branding for my social media and my personal brand outside of 96 Social. The illustration has also featured on cans as graduate fashion week props. I was pleased with the final outcome and didn’t require any amendments.

COLLABORATION 2: POPPY ALMOND - @POPPYALMONDDESIGN

I collaborated with Poppy through Instagram where she helped create some graphics / typography for my social media accounts. After explaining my idea and sending colour palettes, screenshots of her work which I liked and my own moodboards both myself and poppy where happy that our ideas where communicated and we where both on the same page. Below is the first graphics I was sent by Poppy - They where not what I expected and the colours slogans and style was not what I asked for. As a social media focused agency I cannot promote and sell the idea that social media is bad for your health and social media influencer. This typography is meant to sell my services and showcase personality and I felt this wasn’t received. After these drafts I had a discussion with Poppy again about what was required and created a more detailed brief with further moodboards and ideas along with captions and facts to choose from. Which can be seen on the next page.

EXAMPLES OF GRAPHIC STYLE I already feel like your existing graphics that you’ve created fit my brand well already. I’ve included a couple of your designs that I really like so something like this. I’ve also included a couple of others that I’ve gathered from Pinterest.

TEXT: • 57% of fashion and beauty brands engage in influencer marketing (digitalmarketinginsituite.com) • Digital technologies have made it easier for small brands to build awareness and sell to customers, helping them capture a disproportionate share of growth (mckinsey.com) • Services: Social Media Management + Brand Strategy • 64% of 18-29 year olds use Instagram (sproutsocial.com) • The average UK based user spends 1 hour 50 minutes scrolling through Instagram FINAL GRAPHICS:

COSTS WIX Website - premium account with custom domain - £60 per year (I needed a custom domain as the one given to me by six had no relevance to my agency or made sense as it was made up of my email I used to sign up. By getting a premium account I was able to create a custom domain, access the live chat feature and create a more professional site. This cost was at a 50% reduction due to a flash sale Printing: Promotional strategy - 4 copies perfect bound - £30 approx Client Brief - 4 copies (saddle stitched) - £17 approx Single A5 Sheets - x4 - £3.90 Business Cards - created for hand in - £16 Stickers (round x50 and square x 90) - £20 Display boxes - £4 Tissue Paper - £1 Logo design - £50 Illustration and x3 Social media graphics - £60 (This is an approximate list of major costings and does not reflect existing costs such as Adobe Creative Cloud 96 SOCIAL SERVICE COSTINGS: After doing an audit on established agencies both nationally and locally I concluded that many sites if not all state that all costings are done on a quote by quote basis. Many agencies who I have looked at in previous modules for inspiration have had their prices online but have since taken down. Although a new business I still need to make doing client work worth while therefore I will be offering a slightly lower rate but still ensuing I am payed what I need to survive. On my website I have outlined all work will be on a quote by quote basis. Prices will be determined by the following factors: • • • •

What is required / aims Budget from the client How long it will take to complete Hourly rate for a freelancer (usually between £8 - £10)

NEWSLETTER POPULARITY WITH TOPIC IDEAS: Through research on existing creative agencies it become a frequent feature that agencies would offer a subscriber newsletter to existing clients and anyone who signed up via the website. Therefore I took the decision last minute to create my own. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get sent any newsletters due to them not being sent out when I subscribed - When creating my own newsletter I will send out the newest newsletter so subscribers aren’t signing up to a ghost service. By sending out the newest email at least subscribers are getting a taste for content and can then decide whether to continue or end the subscription minimising spam clutter on their inbox. POPULARITY: As well as looking at my competitors for newsletter inspiration I also researched into newsletters and how they’re on the rise to target new and existing generations obsessed with digital technology. Article: How an earth did email newsletters popular again - medium.com - KEY TAKEAWAYS Today’s best newsletters have rabid followings and actually deliver useful information that people look forward to reading each day Quartz’s Global Executive Survey, 74% of top executives get their news first thing in the morning and 94% of them get it from email newsletters 91% of regular consumers check their email at least once a day Attention spans are becoming shorter and digital distractions are frequent - people are turning to newsletters delivered on their smartphones to get news in small bitesize chunks • The small screen sizes of phones and the barrage of other distractions that come with them have forced newsletters to become more sleek and focused. Some of the best newsletters are formatted to look a lot more like glossy magazine pages • • • •

SPOTLIGHT ON: Independent business of the month X1 Trend forecast for Influencer Marketing and content creators X1 Article that places focus on the importance of digital marketing for small businesses Social Media Tip of the Month - The importance of regular posting with 3 key reasons (96 SOCIAL SAYS)

IMPORTANCE OF DIGITAL MARKETING FOR SMALL BUSINESSES I found this report from manifest.com that outlined some key facts and statics in the importance of digital marketing for small businesses and how it can benefit them in 2019. I read this article and then introduced it in a small section of the newsletter with links to the full report Manifest report - How small businesses use digital marketing in 2019 Title: 95% of small businesses will increase their investment in digital marketing in 2019 “Small businesses are increasing their investment in digital marketing as traditional marketing efforts trend down. Almost three-quarters of small businesses use social media as part of their digital marketing strategies to spread brand awareness and generate sales leads.” (Manifest, 2019) Digital marketing can work for anyone if you’re willing to put the effort in regardless of budget. This report published by Manifest is filled with data stats that show benefits of digital marketing and traditional methods. If you want to read the full report I’ll link it here… Let me know what you think and was it helpful? Forbes: Influencer Marketing trends that will explode in 2019 - forbes, com Title: Companies to take more risks when selecting influencers We love Forbes for giving us the best forecasted trends in terms of influencer marketing. In an article published at the end of 2018 titled Influencer marketing trends that will explode in 2019. Although slightly dated the facts are there. Forbes wrote how companies are going to take more risks when selecting influencers for campaigns meaning they are no longer going to take the “safe” option choosing influencers with the highest following for the budget but instead choosing influencers with the highest engagement rates to drive high purchase rates. You can check out other trends from the article HERE.

So we know posting = followers but why is regular posting so important. #1 INCREASE BRAND VISIBILITY By posting regularly not only increases visibility and awareness but also engagement amongst potential customers. It can be a useful free marketing tool in gaining customers. #2 ESTABLISH AUTHORITY AND CREDIBILITY The more active you are on social media has a direct influence on how credible people think you are as a business, by repeatedly posting high-quality content you are not only increasing brand credibility and authenticity amongst your competitors but you're also showing you’re legit. #3 GETTING PERSONAL Seems silly, but posting regularly on your social media whether that be getting chatty on your Instagram stories or sharing updates and news on your Twitter. Makes your brand personal, it allows audiences to put a face to the name and encourages engagement through comments and discussions.

FINAL NEWSLETTER DESIGN: The newsletter was created from an initial sketch and brought to life using Mailchimp. I wanted a simple design that cohered with brand colours and design but also showed personality and flare with the main focusing being placed on the content and writing. The newsletter was a little longer than I wanted but due to restrictions with design on Mailchimp this was the closest I could get it to the initial design. FIRST SKETCH:

BUSINESS CARD DEVELOPMENT - 96 SOCIAL FINAL DESIGN:

DESIGN 1:

DESIGN 2:

(There’s a problem with my Indesign where the colours aren’t paying off correctly when exported which is why some colours look darker and more dull compared to others) I decided to go with Design Number 3 aa the final design for the business as it was simple but eye-catching due to the contrasting colours. It matched the rest of my brand collateral nicely and the website. Design number one is my least favourite and design 2 I amended and took forward the back layout to the third design as it started the core feature of my business and clearly gave social media links. I just changed the background to white as I though it was too pink heavy. I liked the front of the business card in design 2 but think it merges my personal branding and 96 Social together and I wanted to keep it separate to avoid confusion. I will be taking both 96 Social Business cards and slef-self-branded business cards to GFW but will be primarily promoting myself via my own branding.
