This February I led a team to Grande Goâve, Haiti, where we worked with Marc and Lisa Honorat of Haiti ARISE. This ministry has featured in many EMI stories since 2011 as this is the fourth time that EMI has visited Haiti ARISE. The purpose of this trip was to update the proposed designs for a church, rework designs for an administration building, advise on remediation of a flooding issue and design a brand new facility, a birthing centre. It was also a chance to see the progress of previous phases of the Haiti ARISE campus and meet the Haitian children and families that the ministry is helping. One of these was Carley - the first child to live in the Children’s Village designed by EMI in 2011. Carley was very sick and malnourished when he was brought under the care of Haiti ARISE at 14 months old but is now healthy and lovingly looked after by his new family. He has transformed into a bright bundle of energy with a twinkle of mischief in his eye.

At EMI we have the privilege of participating in, and even speaking into, the stories of so many people. I thank God for saving Carley’s life and that EMI got to be a small part of his story. - Braden Swab Trip Leader Calgary Marathon Fundraiser – May 27th

The Calgary Marathon is a key fundraiser for EMI Canada each year. 100% of funds raised through the marathon go directly to the EMI Fund. Our 2018 goal is to raise $10,000 to cover the costs of running the Uganda Survey Practicum and other projects. We have a fantastic team of runners and walkers this year, and there is still one free registration place available. Follow this link to join or support our team, and use pin 18EMIC to claim the final free registration. If you aren’t able to join us on May 27th, please consider sponsoring a runner to encourage them to reach their goals! Contribute to the EMI Fund
Austin - a future design professional in training?
The EMI Fund closes the financial gap between the cost of sending out an EMI project team and what our ministry partners are able to contribute. It also ensures our ability to offer the Uganda Survey Practicum each year. In essence, the EMI Fund lays the groundwork to equip and mobilize volunteers, interns and staff as they serve ministries and transform lives all around the world. emiworld.org/give

Established in November of 2017 with Vancouver Foundation, the EMI Canada Endowment Fund is a way for donors to support EMI’s long-term charitable mission: to develop people, design structures and construct facilities which serve communities and the Church. The fund facilitates legacy giving and ensures a source of support for EMI that will grow and last. Visit vancouverfoundation.ca/emicanada to learn more or use the donation calculator to see how your donation can make a lasting impact over time.
