EAHM MENA Success Stories

An Exciting Career

In the World's Fastest Growing Industry! There is no greater joy for EAHM than to be recognised by its students as they begin their professional careers. With valued roles in prestigious organisations, EAHM’s graduates continue to build their careers and meet their personal goals. Here is what some of them have to say:

Rami Moukarzel Vice President of Development MENA, FRHI Hotels & Resorts Lebanese, Graduated 2005, BSc Having a degree from EAHM definitely opened doors when I first entered the industry and it has since accelerated the pace of my career growth. In my work life, I have applied the knowledge I gained from the courses I took at EAHM. In addition, the internship placement I had in the Hyatt Regency, Paris certainly taught me a lot about living in a different culture and dealing with customers. My first job was with Kempinski at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, where I was the pre-opening Assistant Outlet Manager. I was responsible for the 1,000-seat Sezzam Dining restaurant. Later in 2008, I started working for Fairmont Raffles Hotels International and I was subsequently promoted to Senior Manager. Today, I am the Director of Development overseeing Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Naser Mohamed Executive Housekeeper, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Emirati, Graduated 2009, ASc While studying to become a hotelier, I discovered that EAHM was more than just a place to get an education — it was a second home. At EAHM, there were great people who supported me to realise my dreams and goals, but really the beauty of my education was that I was having these wonderful experiences, both as a part-time student in the classroom Sunday through Thursday and within a real work environment at the hotels, being a full-time employee. My passion for learning is reflected in the quality of my work and day to day operation at the hotel. One thing I have learnt from EAHM is that you cannot stop after your first failure and that is something that professors here instilled in me. I was able to take all those different things I have learnt from EAHM and put it all into play at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray and I feel like I have just started. One of the important things that EAHM teaches is critical thinking — thinking outside the box, pushing the envelope and not doing things because everybody else does them. Today, I consider myself to be the first successful Emirati Executive Housekeeper to have graduated from EAHM.

Omar Aboulnaga Recruitment Consultant, Lecours Wolfson Egyptian, Graduated 2010, BA Studying at EAHM was the most important and beneficial decision I made, socially and professionally. A culturally diverse community, world renowned lecturers, over-flowing with interesting people, full of opportunity and the fact that you are literally surrounded by some of the world’s most famous and luxurious hotels, other hospitality universities simply cannot match the experience. After my graduation, I joined the pre-opening team of Jumeirah Zabeel Saray in the capacity of Event Coordinator (acting Event Manager). Fourteen months later, I was promoted to Corporate Sales Executive in Dubai Cluster Sales Team. The following year, after having lived in Dubai for 13 years, I decided it was time to move on and relocate to Toronto, Canada, where I am currently working at the Lecours Wolfson as a Recruitment Consultant. My journey has only begun and I am excited to see where it will take me.

Ahmad Al Hallaq Event Planning Manager, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai Jordanian, Graduated 2011, BSc & MSc (on-going) Joining EAHM was the best decision I have made for both my professional career and social life. Having had the opportunity to be taught by world class lecturers and to be a part of a multi-cultural student body has helped me strengthen my hospitality knowledge, my communication and social skills. The strong relationships that EAHM has with most international hotel chains worldwide has opened a lot of doors for me. Studying at EAHM was not only an educational experience, but a stepping stone to a bright future within Hospitality. Right after graduation, I joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts as a Sales Coordinator at the Westin Dubai and Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina. In September 2012, I joined the pre-opening team at the world’s tallest hotel – The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai as an Events Planning Executive. Shortly after that, I was promoted to Events Planning Manager. EAHM had a great impact on where I am today and helped me develop a passion for hospitality and the confidence in my skills and qualifications to go all the way to the top.

Salwa Al Obaidli Assistant Marketing and Communication Manager - Restaurant & Bars, Jumeirah Beach Hotel Emirati, Graduated 2011, BSc Studying at EAHM has proved to be one of the most influential and beneficial decisions that I have made and it has helped me develop academically, socially and professionally. The culturally diverse community mixed with the highest level of education allowed me to become the hotelier that I am today. I am honoured to have been part of one of the most prestigious professional hospitality institutions that is recognised worldwide. Not only is it globally recognised, but it is also associated with one of the world’s finest hotel chains, the Jumeirah Group. After graduating from EAHM, I had an exciting opportunity to join Jumeirah Beach Hotel as Assistant Event Manager, which was a wonderful learning experience. After just one year on the job, I was promoted to Events Manager. I believe that my journey has only just begun and I am excited to see where it will take me. EAHM has opened the doors on many amazing opportunities within the hospitality industry. It has also taught me to focus on all the finer details, as I believe it was not only a university but also a specialised hotel school that equips you with the tools, experience and work ethic that prepares you for the real world.

Shady Hassan Senior Hospitality Analyst, Jones Lang LaSalle’s Hotel & Hospitality Group Egyptian, Graduated 2006, BSc & 2013, MSc Obtaining a BSc (Honours) from EAHM has only added value to my career since graduating in 2006. Even prior to graduation, during my studies at EAHM, I had the opportunity to work with some of the leading hotel operators in the industry. Post-graduation, in 2006 I secured a role with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts in Philadelphia as an Assistant Manager in F&B. This opportunity was due to the experience gained through study and industry exposure. After spending 4 years with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts between the United States and Egypt, I decided to go back to EAHM and obtain my MSc and move into the Consultancy side of the industry. I was a Senior Consultant with Mohamed Al Geziry Consultancy for a year before being promoted to Head of the Consultancy Division for almost two years. The MSc programme has assisted me in developing within the consultancy industry as I am currently with Jones Lang LaSalle in the capacity of Senior Hospitality Analyst.
