Appealing to Diverse Populations

Your group may have identified its mission, common practices, and why it is the place for its dedicated members. However, when recruiting new members and holding events on campus for all students, additional perspective may be needed. Let Beatrice Antoine and Bernadine Desanges help you widen your audience through an in-depth look at the cultural composition of our campus as well as strategies and ideas to help you bring students from all walks of life to your group’s ranks.

Retaining and Engaging Group Members

The e-mail list at the involvement fair was 150 people long, but only 10 are coming to your meetings. Where did we go wrong? Devin Riddle and Nichole Adams may be able to help you answer that question. This session will teach you some of the reasons that students get involved in organizations, and guide you toward responsive and interactive ways to address the needs of your members and keep them active with your group.

Creative Marketing, Advertising, + Promotions

Let’s get one thing out in the open first. Flyers are neither the most effective, nor most interesting, way to promote your organizations meetings and events. Whew. That felt good to say. Now, join Jason Meier of Emerson College and Joel Pettigrew of MIT as you learn how to make the Emmanuel College events calendar do much of the hard work for you, as well as several other methods to get the word out about your organization and its happenings on campus.

Auditorium Building Advisor-Group Relations Between your busy schedules and the many hats that our faculty and staff advisors have to wear in their work on campus, creating and sustaining a relationship with your organization advisor can be difficult. Join Sarah Brethauer and Melissa Romaine to gain insight on how to set expectations for involvement and support to be shared with your group advisor, address complications that may arise while working with him or her, and how to express your appreciation for the work they do.
