ABOUT US Global One to One is an educational nonprofit dedicated to cultivating intercultural understanding and communication between students and young leaders across the globe. Through our unique one-to-one format, global connections, cross-cultural respect, empathy and communication are strengthened, creating a network of people able to resolve pressing global issues together. Through hand-written pen pal letters, video greetings, STEM collaboration and youth summits students realize and experience the commonalities that provide the basis for a more unified world.Â
WHY IT MATTERS In the culturally diverse world we live in, the ability to communicate effectively with those from other cultures is an essential skill. Lack of direct experience and interaction with other cultures limits our understanding and perceptions, leading to unnecessary divisions and conflict. No one group of people or nation can effectively address issues that affect us all. Only through collaboration can we resolve challenges and conflict, and
these collaborations require respectful and insightful communication if they are to be effective and sustainable. Our children are the future leaders of our local and global communities. Learning about other cultures better prepares them to understand their peers and issues of the day.
OUR IMPACT "We have to first learn how to work together as human beings. Right now everyone has the mindset where they only think about themselves and their own country instead of thinking about the good of mankind."Â Since Global One to One's founding in 2007, we have reached over 16,000 students in 29 countries around the globe. Over 64,000 letters have been exchanged. Â
CONNECT Innovative educational programs, creating intercultural understanding and open communication for effective global collaborations, global economies and resolution of global issues.
ENGAGE Engaging in service to communities and intercultural understanding are core values cultivated by students in our high school and university student groups.
INNOVATE Innovation involves a process of inquiry and collaboration. Developing skills of critical thinking, interpersonal and team-based communication prepare students to be successful.
