Introduction
“Why make a Porfolio dedicated to model-making? Architectural models have a particular characteristic: they allow us to understand both the two-dimensionality and the three-dimensionality of an architectural project and they permit us to experience it looking inside it or to understand the wider context. Each material that composes it gives a different perception of the project and the different scales of realization make it possible to grasp the different facets and evolutions of the design during its conception. The architectural model is also both a continuum elaborate, as in the study models, and the crowning of a design process, like the final presentation models. In my opinion, for all these reasons the architectural model represents an important piece of the large puzzle that characterizes the birth and development of an architectural idea. For this reason I decided to dedicate a separate portfolio to it, because the architectural model has always marked and characterized my university years and it fully describes my professional profile as Architect.

The Altopiano House or K2 House by Carlo Mollino, a Turin architect, designer and photographer active from the 30s to the 70s, is one of the most innovative Italian examples of mountain architecture. Built in 1952 in the town of Agra (Varese), it has a a long rectanguar layout distributed on two levels, consisting of a kitchen with a dining room and a long corridor leading to the 3 bedrooms available on the first floor. This floor, reachable by a wide stone ramp, is almost completely cantilevered on a gneissed portico and supported only by two concrete pillars, while the lower floor is partly underground and houses the services and other two bedrooms. Despite the use of materials such as wood and local stone and using typical construction methods and forms of the mountain tradition, the building is still highly innovative and the subject of experimentation for the architect.

Emilian Apennine Park, on the Monte Cusna. The design theme deals with mountain architecture through the recovery and expansion of the Riogrande bivouac. The extension was designed to accommodate both families and groups of passersby and hikers who need to be hospitalized for several days. The conformation of the steep territory and the typical appearance of the surrounding beech forest with tall and close trunks, have influenced the architecture of the project. For this reason, on one hand, inspired by the long mountain tradition, part of the building was raised and, on the other side, high wooden pillars were used both as a structural element and as a piece of furniture both outside and inside, to resume the dense vegetation present. Internal distribution involves the use of minimum spaces to allow the comfort of the users and the materials used are entirely available in the place.

Architectural project: A librar y for Por ta Vigentina
The area of intervention is located in Milan along Corso di Porta Vigentina and concerns the extension of the Library and the church annexed to the former Calchi-Taeggi Monastery. The project takes the form of a closed internal courtyard, with an almost hidden access. Externally, the building appears as a solemn solid completely white and the roof is faceted with localized skylights; the only opening facing on Corso di Porta Vigentina is wide and directs the viewpoint towards the main surrounding paths. Inside, the ground floor hosts most of the available texts while in the basement we find the archive of unexposed books. On both levels, we find multi-purpose rooms, lounges and tables for the consultation of volumes, all crowned by the remains of the aisles of the former monastery church that rise up to the level of coverage. As for the reorganization of the existing library, a large space has been created to host a conference room and common areas communicating with the garden.

The heart of the academy is made up of a classrooms block of dimensions and properties that vary according REALIZZATO CON UN PRODOTTO AUTODESK VE to the type of academic use. The classrooms are connected to create a collaboration between students and teachers during all the activities and they all have a loft area reserved for the teacher. The classroom block is placed at a height of 12 m through a system of pilaster and it is homologous and repeatable based on the number of students attending the academy. The whole building is placed under a cover inspired by the projects of Pier Luigi Nervi and which acts as a semi-closed gallery.
