Visiting a working farm can be a wonderful family activity, educational and entertaining for children and adults alike. To help ensure that yours is a successful trip, we offer the following advice.
FARM SAFETY Please do not venture onto a farm unless you are accompanied by the farmer or have his permission. Alex Shipherd Photography
· Fences are often electrified. · Animals can be unpredictable – do not approach them.
Cattaraugus County is a Right-to-Farm County, under Local Law Number 1-1995. If a practice is determined to be a sound agricultural practice, this law protects farmers in cases where complaints about farming activities have been made.
· If you do have permission to touch the animals, be sure to wash your hands after.
