From the Director’s Desk… Hello Encinitas, The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is excited to offer many opportunities this summer for you and your family to get out and experience your community. Our long-running Sunday Summer Concerts by-the-Sea series returns to Moonlight Beach in in July and August. Bring your family, friends, and beach chairs to enjoy a great lineup of music with your toes in the sand. We are excited that many of our summer camps are back to business-as-usual including Seaside Day Camp returning to our terrific camp facility at Glen Park. We invite Senior Citizens to enjoy our beautiful new outdoor patio space at the senior center which now features outdoor fitness equipment to get you moving. If you are looking for a fun and sophisticated music experience, join us for the iPalpiti Festival July 14 – 17 at the Encinitas Library and Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in La Jolla, featuring musicians from all over the world performing in solo concerts and a main performance. Those that love the visual arts can visit the City’s three public arts spaces at City Hall, Encinitas Community and Senior Center and the Encinitas Library. And don’t forget Cardiff Dog Days of Summer at the beautiful Encinitas Community Park on August 14. We hope that you enjoy experiencing all that Encinitas has in store for you this summer.

Phase 1 of the Leucadia Streetscape project on North Coast Highway 101 between Marcheta Street and Basil Street is on schedule to be completed late spring! New pavement and traffic striping with dedicated bike lanes have been placed on both sides of North Coast Highway 101. All the decorative seatwalls and sidewalks with the historic Leucadia concrete stamps have been placed on the west side of Highway 101 between North Court and Basil Street. Numerous streetlights have been energized along the highway between Marcheta Street and Basil Street. At El Portal Street, roundabout construction has been completed as well as the planting of an iconic Torrey Pine tree in the center. Next we will plant the remaining trees and shrubs on the west side as well as install the remaining street furniture including benches, chairs, tables, bike racks and trash/recycling receptacles. The final stage of work will be tying into the El Portal undercrossing project to provide a connection to Vulcan Avenue. The El Portal Undercrossing project is slated to be completed in Summer 2022. The Leucadia Streetscape team continues to engage local businesses to provide information about upcoming work and help address their concerns. For more Leucadia Streetscape project information, visit EncinitasCA.Gov/Streetscape

Enjoy an evening of visual art, live music, and refreshments as the City of Encinitas and local art galleries swing open their doors for Art Night Encinitas. The event celebrates the City’s diverse visual art scene at participating locations and is free to the public. The bimonthly art open houses also benefit artists through the sale of their art and provide the public an opportunity to interact with artists and learn about the creative process. Catch a ride on one of the shuttle buses that will transport the public between all three civic art spaces as well as additional stops to access participating spaces and the Institute of Contemporary Art. Please park at Encinitas City Hall, the Encinitas Community Center, and the Encinitas Library to easily access the shuttle.
