From the Director’s Desk… Hello Encinitas,
We hope you are having a great summer and you and your family have had the opportunity to return to normal activity. As fall approaches, we are excited to return to regular programming and events. Many of your favorite instructors are back for in person programs, camps, and classes. The City is also accepting proposals for new programs through the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. Interested instructors and organizations can contact the department directly for more details. This issue of the guide features classes and programs, Movie in the Park, senior social dances, Art Night, and other community partnership events. The City has also launched an e-bike page with information about e-bike safety and has partnered with the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition to offer City Cycling classes. More information can be found at www.EncinitasCA.gov/Ebikes. We wish the best to the students returning to school and look forward to seeing you in our programs, in our parks, facilities and at an event or two this fall.

Encinitas Redistricting Every ten years, districts must be redrawn so that each district is substantially equal in population. This process, called redistricting, is important in ensuring that each city councilmember represents about the same number of constituents. In Encinitas, the City Council is responsible for drawing council districts. Redistricting is done using U.S. census data. The City Council will seek input selecting the next district map for our City Council. You have an opportunity to share with the City Council how you think district boundaries should be drawn to best represent your community. Join us in-person for our first Redistricting Workshop which will explain the process, criteria, communities of interest and the project timeline.
