THE5SENSESTECHNIQUE
This is a way to connect you to your 5 senses - sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch and bring your attention and focus to the present moment through your senses and away from the stress at hand The idea is to find something in your vicinity that engages each of the senses and really focus on them, either by talking about them out loud, in your head or writing it down. It’s ideal to start with what you see and touch, as they tend to be the easiest or quickest to access Remember to breathe through it, calmly and with intention
What do you see? Maybe the building in front of you, a flower, a statue or decor item. Focus on all details of it, from texture to colour to anything about it you can admire or appreciate

What can you touch? It could be your own skin. Rub your arm or hands, for example. Or feel your muscles. Are they tense or clenched?
What can you hear? Maybe it’s as simple as the wind outside or birds or people’s chatter or music
What can you smell? You can keep essential oil/s handy and work with those for this.
What can you taste? Enjoy something light and delicious and focus on the taste and texture as you eat it, slow and mindfully
