STW Coach Education Survey Education and training are extremely important for all coaches.

Energize are developing a training menu for local coaches/leaders/activators who deliver activity across STW and beyond. The benefits of training may include better understanding of the participants you coach, increased knowledge of how to engage with them and an enhanced ability to deliver better sessions. To organise these courses according to coaches demands, Energize are interested to know directly from you what you would like to attend. To have your say, please complete our survey (link below). N.b. as minimum standards training, Energize will definitely be running Safeguarding and Protecting Children and First Aid courses. Towards an Active Nation On the back of the DCMS strategy published in December 2015, Sport England have responded with their outline of how they are going to work from 20162021. Towards an Active Nation covers some coaching aspects such as a focus on underrepresented groups in the workforce (e.g. women and girls and disabled coaches) and stresses the importance of coaches having softer personal communication skills as well as technical knowledge to be a ‘good’ coach. Take a look at the full report here. Pages 38/39 are particularly interesting if you want some insight on what is to come for the coaching landscape!
