If you’re a new coach or interested in coaching the ‘Women Make Coaching’ project is here to help you get started, get qualified or simply to do more! The ‘Women Make Coaching’ project is working in partnership with County Sports Partnerships across the West Midlands to address the imbalance of female coaches in sport and physical activity and working together with NGB’s and other national partners to raise the profile of females in sport. Our aims: Recruit, develop and deploy 100 female coaches across the West Midlands region between March 2015 and April 2016 Establish a culture of support for females in coaching Raise the profile of females in coaching Why should I sign up? Coach Bursary of up to 75% for candidates wishing to become a qualified coach. Mentoring support from experienced female coaches and tutors. Networking opportunities with like-minded coaches and volunteers. Open Bursary Training Grant To Progress Your Career Helping you #BeInspirational and progress as a dance fitness instructor The Exercise, Movement and Dance (EMD) Academy's Open Bursary training grant aims to offer financial support to passionate individuals hoping to train or develop their career in dance fitness instructing. Do you want a career doing something you love? Are other financial commitments delaying you from doing that training you’ve been longing to do? Are you worried about not being supported once you qualify? Yes? Then look no further, we can help. Here’s some more info: The training grant is available to anyone wanting to take a dance fitness qualification or course so long as it’s in a style we recognise and we are happy it’s of a good quality- we want the best for you after all! Please see the criteria document for more details. You can apply for up to £100 towards Continued Professional Development (CPD)/ short courses and workshops and up to £150 towards recognised qualifications. We will pay up to these amounts or 50% of the cost (whichever is lower) All teachers who receive the training grant will get a year’s free affiliation to The EMD Community, where you get all of your teaching essentials (anything from insurance to teaching tips) all in one place. England Golf County Rules Schools 22nd-23rd September 2015
Location- The Shropshire Golf Club Since 2011, England Golf has run 16 rules schools across the country, all proving very popular and attracting almost 500 people in total. Aspire to Shine Aspire to Shine is a unique and exciting development opportunity for future Club Leaders in our sport. British Gymnastics have recognised that there are number of people with the desire to set up their own gymnastics club, or support their current club to expand and grow. This process can seem daunting and unachievable so by running Aspire to Shine they hope to support a group of people turn their visions and aspirations into reality. The goal of this programme is to recruit, train and deploy volunteers across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. Launch of ‘Run It’ Campaign Join In – the London 2012 Legacy charity which works to connect people with local sports volunteering opportunities – has launched its ‘Run It’ campaign to support running and athletics across the UK. They have produced a video to demonstrate and celebrate the work of volunteers in running, and to encourage others to get involved and help to Run It. Boost Your Archery To help archers access tailored coaching in their club, Archery GB have launched a new initiative called Boost Archery. For full details about the initiative see 'Boost Archery - A Guide for Club Officers and Coaches'. Clubs can also now apply for funding of ÂŁ350 to help them set up Boost Archery for their members. Are you a boxing official? If so, your opinions are needed! England Boxing is keen to improve both the standard of officiating in England, the standard of training for officials and the experience for officials in the sport. To do this, officials are invited to take part in a short survey and share their opinions and suggestions to help shape the way forward. The questionnaire is primarily aimed at officials, but responses are welcome from other volunteers, coaches or boxers.

Sports Coach UK Coaching Research After consultation with universities, National Governing Bodies of sport and other partners, sports coach UK has developed a list of coaching research themes and topics. The purpose of this list is to encourage organisations to conduct research in these areas and also to form a framework around which existing research can be better organised and disseminated. This list will be evaluated and improved over time and this should be seen as a starting point in our attempt to better co-ordinate research throughout coaching. Sports Leaders UK- I Can Lead Sports Leaders UK has launched a new leadership award for 14 to 19's – I Can Lead.
This award aims to build leadership skills through physical activity and volunteering experiences and uses a format that is easy for teachers to implement and manage. A fun practical course that can be completed in class, on the sports field or as an after school activity. I Can Lead has been designed as an introduction to leadership that will give learners the knowledge and skills to assist in leading basic sports/activity sessions under direct supervision.

Nextgen Awards- Entries Open Sport Industry Group and Barclays have launched a new platform which will identify, reward and nurture tomorrow’s leaders within sport: Sport Industry NextGen, in partnership with Barclays.
