Does my club need a social media policy? Staying safe online and especially on social media, has never been a bigger concern for individuals and organisations alike – including local sports clubs. Whilst social media is an excellent tool for helping your club engage with members and the public, it can also present a number of risks such as cyber bullying, reputation damage, fraud or exposure to inappropriate content. Recent examples in the media report that members of a team used their club’s Facebook page to attack a coach and other players.

Your club wouldn’t accept this type of behaviour on the pitch or in your clubhouse – so why would you online? Club Leaders have put together simple guidance, click here to access

The Challenge of Growing Youth Participation in Sport Are you trying to grow participation at your sports sessions or club? Sport England has identified 3 key audiences in their new report, with information on how to reach them and how to design and deliver experiences. The 3 audiences are categorised by their attitudes to sport, which are: • Positive • Functional • Uninterested Young people are under pressure to achieve: their world is characterised by the economic recession, high university fees and high youth unemployment. They are ‘digital natives’, constantly using social media and they have instant access to information through Google. Young people are seeking experiences which are: • Interactive • Social • Rewarding • Personalised • Inspiring • Creative Young people are often looking for something which sport isn’t selling to them; even if the activity is sport, the message doesn’t need to be. The report also contains case studies of projects which have repackaged the sport experience. Access the full report by clicking here
