HHIC celebrates apprenticeships for ‘National Apprenticeship Week’ #NAW2015 National Apprenticeship Week (NAW2015) - takes place from 9-13 March 2015, and is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy. Supporting the event, the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC) will be showcasing a series of real life apprenticeship career profiles. The profiles demonstrate how an apprenticeship can provide; qualifications, career progression, excitement and crucially the experience and opportunity to work in a real life environment.

What encouraged you to do an apprenticeship in your chosen field?
Opportunity to get into work and start a career with a fantastic company.
2. What are the most important skills your apprenticeship has taught you? Team work, self discipline, confidence, and a desire to learn.

What has been your proudest achievement or highlight so far?
Travelling to Germany by myself was a highlight and the trip was successful.

What advice would you give to young people unsure about an apprenticeship in your industry?
It’s hard work but keep at it, it’s continually challenging but enjoyable, always remember that the people around you want you to succeed.
Could you describe what your typical working day entails?
Currently an MLC (Market launch coordinator) for a project that aims to introduce commercial products – this involves working with supplies, internal departments and occasionally external Bosch departments. National GB coordinator for PACE – a new system/database that central are rolling out to all TT focus countries in which GB is a significant contributor to TT. Overall I am treated like a junior product manager in a training phase, given real responsibility but also given mentoring support.
