CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE
Safety is Top of Mind When I look at the industry and how it has matured since I first started working over 35 years ago, I have seen a cultural shift in how workers and companies view safety. As much as we have achieved as an industry, we know that our job isn’t done and that being safe requires a continuous focus on improvement.

SPECIAL PROJECTS AND EVENTS Executive Summit The fourth Annual Executive Summit brought over 110 senior executives to the Calgary Petroleum Club in May. Professor Andrew Hopkins*, a renowned expert on Occupational Health and Safety, spoke on Becoming a Mindful Organization. This event continues to help senior executives within Canada’s oil and gas industry engage in an ongoing dialogue about safety. With timely topics over the past four years, the discussions promote a culture of safety at all levels of an organization, both on and off the job.
Frontline Magazine In the fall, Enform launched its Frontline: Safety in Action Magazine and distributed it to over 25,000 readers. Designed to speak to workers facing daily safety challenges, the magazine is a unique way to look at safety. Topics covered in the inaugural issue included Help When You’re Hangry, Work Hand in Glove and Fatigue is the new ‘F’ Word, demonstrating that safety is not something we have, but it’s something we do.
Enform Saskatchewan Office Relocates In July, Enform’s Saskatchewan office relocated from Regina to Weyburn in order to be closer to the people the organization serves. With so much industry activity based out of Southeastern Saskatchewan, Enform is now able to provide better access to programs and
exhibits. As a key event for Enform, the 2014 PSC was a platform to introduce the four strategic priorities of the organization to industry. The event provided relevant and timely information for the industry and was a catalyst for networking and collaboration among participants with over 1,625 attendees coming from across Canada and the United States.
External Auditor Appreciation Banquet The External Safety Auditor Appreciation Banquet was held on September 17 for over 50 auditors to celebrate and recognize their hard work and years of service. The event showcased the efforts of many key individuals who have given their time and energy to promote safety across the oil and gas industry.
Together we’re Responsible Speaker Series Enform introduced a new joint-industry initiative that culminated in a one-day event held in September in Medicine Hat. The event format included various speakers from industry and a government discussion panel with a focus on raising awareness of current safety topics. Hosted in conjunction with two associations: the Alberta Construction Safety Association and the Alberta Motor Transport Association, it connected a variety of groups and organizations. This event enabled Enform to further promote the topic of safety across industries.
