Chic Tropical Dinner Party

Do tropical-themed parties bring to mind images of tiki umbrellas, coconut drinks and saturated sunset colors? While we love any chance to have an island-vibe party, we also love the idea of turning the standard color palette on its head and creating something a little more on the chic side of the tropics.

To create this cool color tropical tablescape, we took our cue from the flora and fauna of the rainforests and islands. Large fronds of palm branches and purple toned orchids give us a look that is less Tiki and more Bali. A crisp white tablecloth, bold patterned charger plates and gold utensils elevate the entire look, making the floral the showpiece of the table. Our lantern centerpiece swaps candles for overflowing orchid blossoms creating a look of a flower display box.

For our dessert cake, we took a bronze outdoor metal table and got clever with a new gold wire wastebasket. By turning it upside down, we created a platform for our cake and a cage to insert palm branches and orchids within it. The whole look is an unexpected minimal tropical style with metal accents sure to impress your guests and make them feel swept away to a resort in the islands.
