ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY 1
LETTER FROM THE EDITORS Has there ever been a more tumultuous month than this past one? With Covid restrictions tightening once again and deep winter setting in, it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Where in the past, wedding planning has been an exciting process, now it is one filled with doubt and uncertainty. But in spite of the rollercoaster this past year has been, we have seen many couples remain undaunted by the ups and downs and embrace the most important part of their day, love. We've seen families slash their guests lists and end up having the most intimate, beautiful ceremonies and celebrations. We've seen guests do drive-by vehicle parades in lieu of traditional receiving lines. And, we've seen couples leave all the stress and canceled receptions behind to elope. At the end of the day, weddings and love cannot be stopped. We have so enjoyed seeing the creative and loving ways you all have set your traditional plans aside to focus on the one thing that matters, pledging yourself to the one you love. In this issue, we continue featuring weddings of all types to give you ideas on how to plan your day in this time of uncertainty. We also give you a deep dive into romance with our inspirations shoots, from a Moody Masquerade look to our homage to our fav new Netflix series, Bridgerton! So sit back, get cozy and soak it all up. Cheers to vaccinations and better days ahead!
Cheers!

Yes we did! It is no secret our editors Nikki and JoElle love all things historical and romantic. When you put those things together, you get the perfect, decadent inspiration for our newest styled shoot. Both fans of the new Netflix Bridgerton series, they quickly whipped up the idea of this gorgeous spring look and embraced all things Regency. From the china, fireplace and grand staircase to the gloves, tiara and period inspired bridal gown, we hit all the notes to give you brides ideas galore for incorporating some Regency romance into your own big day. And, we couldn't have found a more perfect setting than the new Grand Ballroom at Comfort by Cross-Eyed Cricket in downtown Evansville. The chandeliers, furniture and that staircase sealed the deal and gave us everything we needed to bring our look to life.

The Spell of the Veil
By Kassy Lauer of Rose & Bliss Illustration By Elaina Adams
It’s a common phrase you’ll hear in almost every episode of Say Yes to the Dress... “Let’s jack her up!”, and although I personally find the combination of words extremely cringeworthy, they ain’t lying about what they’re about to do. Specifically, placing the perfect veil with the dress of your dreams is going to turn on the waterworks for most bridal parties. What they are planning to “jack up” is your emotions, sis!
may go down to her finger tips or well beyond the train, it might fall over just her neck and back or drape over her face, but something changes in the moment you place it. Typically this is where we have a big pause as the bride looks deep into the mirror before whispering something that sounds like “I’m getting married” or “I’m going to be someone’s wife.”
The Spell of the Veil
There is a pivotal moment in a bridal consultation when a bride is loving her gown, and you get the opportunity to bring her an amazing veil. I’m not sure if there’s witchcraft behind it, but every person who’s witnessed it will tell you that there’s magic in it. In an instant the person standing in the mirror goes from someone wearing a gorgeous dress to *gasp* a bride when you place that crown adorning layer of fabric. It could be edged in beading or soft lace, it
The veil is where it all becomes a reality, and we have to pass around the tissues for mom and grandma who suddenly see their baby as a bride. It’s truly special, and it’s probably my most favorite part of a consultation- not only because I am fabulous at choosing the perfect veil, but because it seems to hold so much emotional weight, and I get to witness raw human feelings first hand (yes, I’m a romantic). It’s important to know the types of veils that are widely available so that you understand the options once you’ve found your dress. I have had a few brides that have a very specific idea of their veil before they know what they want in a gown, and it truly complicates the process because we have to work backwards (not that I’m not up for the challenge). It is a much more natural process to find the gown you love and then look at veils and accessories that compliment the dress. Veil Lengths Birdcage- Often styled with short hair or hair completely up, this veil has a dramatic and vintage flair! Is typically worn for the duration of the event, as placement is exact and requires pinning.
6 ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY
Elbow- Hits right at...yeah, the elbow. Great for a short or tea length style! Fingertip- Our most frequently chosen length, hits your fingertips with your arms down to your side. Will not obscure the view or the back of the gown and comes just under your most valuable asset (iykwim). Ballet- falls just at the knee- this style looks best when the train edge and veil edge match! Waltz- hits right at ankle height. Like the ballet, a complimentary edge is must! Floor- Should just graze the floor just like the front hem of your gown. Chapel- will pool on the ground and trail behind you about a foot or so.
Juliet Cap- A veil that had a “cap” on it that fits your head much like a hat! (Downton Abbey vibes). Flower Crown- A laurel of flowers that fits your head like a halo. Can be combined with a veil or worn alone! When in doubt or if needing veil recommendations, ask your bridal consultant (that goes for all things wedding-fashion). We understand how important this aspect of bridal wardrobe is and if your associate is anything like me, they had visions of the perfect veil flash before their eyes when you tried on “THE DRESS.” Please understand that if we cry a little with mom and grandma, it’s because we are under the spell of the veil too. There’s power in that delicate piece of fabric!
Cathedral- Our second most common choice of brides brings the drama with about a fourfoot trail. Royal- Princess Diana vibes, this style refers to anything longer than 140 inches. Veil Terminology Mantilla- A traditional Spanish-style veil that lays flat on your head (think Mary, the mother of Jesus but with Lace or beading around the face) See our masquerade shoot in this episode for a visual! Blusher- The name for the part of a veil over the face that a groom lifts to kiss his bride. (Ladies, this does not work well with beaded hair accessories, as it's easy to get tangled). ENGAGED! Top 10 Bridal Jewelry Questions
At Camelot we get a ton of questions specifically related to bridal jewelry, engagements and weddings as a whole. We have compiled a list of our top 10 weddingrelated questions with answers to help you from the planning stages, to after your big day.
Where are good places to propose? When thinking of the places to propose, we have found that the best locations are those that mean something special to the couple. Maybe it’s where you had your first date, or a favorite park, or the local mural she always mentions she loves when you drive past Camelot Jewelers. Incorporating local landmarks and businesses can be a fun way to utilize the community to make your proposal truly memorable. As a local business, I can tell you we love helping out with proposals – whether we are snapping pictures of the groom down on one knee in front of our mural, delivering the most precious piece of jewelry a future groom can present to the love of his life, and everything in between.
Does the wedding band or engagement ring go on my finger first? The wedding band goes on the finger first, followed by the engagement ring. My dad, Rodney Williams, would always say the easiest way to remember is that the band goes closest to your heart. Sometimes a bride will choose to get two matching wedding bands, where one band is worn on each side of the engagement ring. Another option is the bride choosing a mix match, wearing stacking or geometric bands that can be worn on each side of the engagement ring or stacked in different ways, depending on the bride’s preference.
Should I get my rings soldered together before or after the wedding? In short this is completely up to the bride, however, our bride’s typically do one of two things:
ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY

The bride will drop off both her wedding and engagement rings to us, while she goes to get her nails done. We then clean, inspect, and solder the entire set together. When she returns to pick up her rings, we have her try the soldered set on to make sure it fits just right. The rings are then ready to be given to the best man for safekeeping until he presents them to the groom either before or during the ceremony. In this scenario, the bride will not wear the engagement ring or wedding band again until her groom puts the joined rings on her finger during the wedding ceremony. The second option is for the bride to bring in

the ceremony, and then after the wedding but before pictures, the bride will switch the rings, so the wedding band is first and closest to her heart, and the engagement ring is beside it to the outside of her finger. After the wedding, the rings can be dropped off at Camelot to be soldered together and picked up either later the same day or when the newlyweds return from their honeymoon. Many of our brides and grooms will also purchase from us one of our many designs of Qalo Rings which are made out of silicone, to wear on their honeymoon. This keeps their new rings safe and in pristine condition, and also helps to avoid loss or damage while they are away. 10 ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY
forget to take off jewelry during these activities, be sure you stop in Camelot Jewelers, so we can clean, inspect, and make everything look brand new.
How much should I spend on an engagement ring? This is one of my favorite questions. You may have heard that you should spend a certain percentage of your salary, three months’ pay, or something along those lines. I, however, am not an advocate of any of these suggestions. I think when considering your budget, it’s also important to consider the preferences of your future bride. Does she value large bands, does she love to wear jewelry, does she appreciate quality and size of the diamond, and does she want to keep the same ring forever? If so, you

has to be ordered, that can sometimes take 2-3 weeks to come in, or if it is back ordered, waiting on parts, etc., it can potentially take longer. Because of this, we suggest giving yourself plenty of time to get exactly what you want. We also offer free in-store layaway, so you can make payments at your convenience and we will keep your jewelry in a safe place leading up to the wedding.
Warranty vs. Appraisal – what’s the difference? Warranty is what is included with your ring purchase. At Camelot we do not charge extra for a warranty, it comes free with your ring purchase and includes a guarantee on side diamonds, free sizing for life, free rhodium plating on white gold, free appraisal by our GIA GG, a discount on future bands and free soldering of the engagement ring and wedding band together. An appraisal is a form with detailed information on your jewelry that is given to your insurance company for coverage under your insurance policy. At Camelot, we provide the appraisal for you to provide to your insurance company. If your ring is lost or damaged, or you lose or damage your center diamond, we also provide insurance replacement forms for your insurance company.
What if I don’t know what kind of ring my partner wants or what size he/she wears? Checking to see if your future fiancé has a Pinterest page with pinned rings, consulting with her family and friends, or looking at other jewelry she already owns are great ways to find out what style of ring the soon-to-be bride likes without having to actually ask her. Sometimes her friends or family members will know her ring size. Sometimes she will have a promise ring that she wears on her ring finger that can brought in for us to check the size. If these are not options, however, we stock our rings in a “stock” finger size that fits most fingers for the proposal. After the proposal, the future bride can then in bring her engagement ring to Camelot and we will happily size her ring and return it to her, usually in the same day.
My family member is giving me an old ring, but it’s not my fiancÊ’s style. What should I do? Reusing and repurposing family heirlooms is one of our favorite things to do! We have many options when it comes to using family pieces. First, you can trade in the entire piece on a new ring. Another option is that we can use the stones out of the family piece and remount them into a brand new ring mounting or a custom made new mounting that fits her style. It is common nowadays for the Bride and Groom to exchange gifts on their wedding day, so we have also used the gold from the family heirloom and turned it into a pendant that the bride can either wear on her big day or that can be gifted to her by the groom. Never throw out jewelry that has sentimental value. We can turn it into something you will love to wear.

ALEXA & ZACH Alexa and Zach both attended USI and met at a fundraiser. Alexa saw that Zach had started an inspirational and fitness clothing line and wanted to support it and spread the word to others. After helping him out and showing up at one of his photoshoots, the two felt a chemistry and became best friends. They were so close that Zach said she’d be his “best man” in his wedding… whenever that day came. People had told Alexa that they could see she and Zach together but she didn’t think twice about that. However, after 5 years of friendship, Zach finally told Alexa he felt more than a friendship for her. She was completely shocked and speechless! It took her about a week to process but once she did, she realized the future life partner she had dreamed of had been there all along. For their wedding they wanted a simple ceremony and reception. They figured that you can have all the bells and whistles at a wedding you want but what’s important is the bond you share with the person you’re saying “I Do” to. The simplicity of the wedding made everything special and intimate, just the way they wanted. ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY

MARRIAGE ADVICE
The Path
There they stand. 2 young adults full of promise and possibilities. They have spent many months and many more dollars planning for this moment and there they stand. Of course, they are excited. Of course, they are “in love.” Of course, they have a path of mystery open before them. The path is truly a mystery because...well, life. No matter how perfectly a plan is laid life happens. That is not a bad thing. It just is the plain unvarnished truth. Life deals the cards, but how you play what you are dealt matters in ultimate ways. As I meet with my engaged couples I marvel at the energy they have, the hope they radiate, and the love they feel for each other. Most know exactly how they want their wedding day to look, feel and be. They have planned it down to the last stamp on the SAVE THE DATE cards. They are, quite naturally, thinking about the day, the event, the cake, the dress, the dance, the music, the memories. Most, if any, have thought about all of the days ahead. I don’t mean to imply the couples are shallow or self-absorbed. Most enjoy rewarding careers and full lives. But the hard part of “happily ever after” is not on the front burner. Jobs lost, babies born, forced moves, deaths, disappointments, dreams upended, all of this and more couldn’t be further from their minds. Of course. I think it is fair to say we are, as
ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY

humans, ill-prepared for blows dealt to us by derailed dreams and shattered expectations. We can handle the stress of an ill-fitting tux or the frustrating maid of honor, those happen. But having our expectations crushed in life’s big ways is too much. What then do we do? How do we relish the joy of the planning, the magic of the moment and while still being aware that some day, down that long road of life, a husband won’t be able to remember what the microwave is for or who his grandchildren are; a wife gets slammed with a breast cancer. years of chemo, radiation, medication. This all may sound extreme but it isn’t. If we live long enough, the “happily ever after” can become something else. It becomes the resounding truth spoken with giddy delight in wedding ceremonies around the world. Couples, gazing into each other’s eyes vow to love each other, “for better or for worse. In sickness and in health.” Believe me when I say that the “for worse” part is when love with a capital “L” reveals itself. That is exactly what Love means. What Love looks like. How it works out in real life. We mature into tenderness. Tenderness is beyond passion, but is just as potent and just as valuable. Maybe even priceless. Love looks like a wife taking a husband on a drive because he is no longer able. A husband gently combing his life partners hair, fixing her make-up because, “She loved to look nice. It was important to her.” Gay or straight, these are the truths of a marriage....the truths of “I do”. I watched my mother care for my father in his dementia. To say it was hard for her is an understatement, but it was a life time of remembering “I do” that kept her going. It was 50 ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY
exhausting and costly to her personally. It was punishing because she didn’t do it well every day. She was worn out, frustrated , and totally committed to his care. That is what I wish I could convey to my beautiful, sparkling, young couples. Not to frighten them or talk them out of the marriage, but to help them be ready for the work that is required by a committed love. I wish I could fortify them with knowledge that hard days are the days when you actually know the meaning of love. I wish.… Maybe I will work it into my next wedding message. “Tom, do you promise to feed Lisa when she can’t feed herself? Lisa, do you promise to read to Tom, when his eyesight fails?” “Ben will you play Neil’s favorite music when he is in hospice care?” Maybe I will work that in next time around. If I do, it will be for the sake of Love with a capital “L.” By written by Ange Humphrey Pastor and founder of Fresh Air Community of Faith and the host of WEHT Local Lifestyles
LOCAL HISTORY
The Alhambra Theatre
After spending the day at the Alhambra Theatre for our Phantom Love inspiration shoot, we wanted to dive deeper into the history and future plans of the theater, one of Evansville's cherished historic treasures. History of the Alhambra • May 1913: Construction on The Alhambra Theatre begins.
• September 1913: The Alhambra Theatre opens to the public. • 1956: The Alhambra Theatre closes after 43 years due to "poor business" and remains vacant for 20 years with the exception of weekend plays in 1967 and 1968. • 1976-1988: Revitalization efforts of the theatre begin. A series of owners and tenants attempt to raise funds from private donors, local government, and through federal grants. Various programming occurs, although each attempt proves unsustainable. • 1995-2000: The River's Bend Playhouse begins another fundraising campaign. HANNAH & JAMIN In Hannah’s words, “Jamin and I met through mutual friends. I work for a dental office, and the dentists at my office were friends with Jamin and set us up. We hit it off and dated for three years before Jamin proposed on our anniversary in Key West. I actually accidentally found the Brinker’s ring bag in his truck months before he proposed and asked him about it. He played it VERY cool and surprised me with a bracelet before he proposed to throw me off…it worked! For our wedding, we wanted something romantic and timeless. When we toured Cason’s Cove, we instantly knew it was the place for us. I love how clean and bright the white flowers are and the smell of fresh eucalyptus was wonderful. I knew this was the look I wanted for our wedding. Another one of my favorite aspects of our wedding was the pampas grass- it added a boho feeling to our wedding that I absolutely loved. The most important part of wedding day was having our cocker spaniel, Rhett be a part of it. He was the greeter and wore a bow tie to match Jamin and the groomsmen.” ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY

Beth Carter Collection It’s so often when a bride walks into Beth Carter Exquisite Bridal & Formal Wear, we hear that she wants something different for her bridal gown that isn’t done or seen time and time again. Located in the small area of southern Indiana, it is oftentimes hard to get a dress that you’ve not seen on another bride. It’s inevitable that every bride wants to feel special on her wedding day. So having a bridal gown that cannot be found in any other store, magazine, or online catalog might just be the perfect option for our brides that want a unique look for their big day. When working with a team of designers to start our “bethcarter” collection of dresses, we knew we wanted a selection of dresses with silhouettes, necklines, and details that our brides would love. Soft, romantic lace, unique necklines, beautiful back design details and flattering silhouettes are just a few of the qualities that can be found in our collection. We are very pleased to find that the first dresses in our line have been loved by every bride that puts them on. They love that they complement their bodies so well, are different than anything they've seen, and are one of a kind. If you are a prospective bride that wants a unique gown and a fun, unique, and welcoming shopping experience, call (812) 683-3777 or message us online to make an appointment. ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY

CYNTHIA & ANDREW In Cynthia’s words, “Growing up in the same small town, Andrew and I are both from Tell City, IN, and just a grade apart in school. Although we never dated while in high school, there was a point in time we exchanged messages back and forth my first year of college but both headed down different paths. Reconnecting after several years we went on our first official date in September of 2018 and have been inseparable since. Although the relationship we started was not your everyday love story with us being two single parents both with two toddlers full time each. Most of our dates included playing at the park, wild messy dinners, and nights-in, falling asleep by 8 o’clock. We loved this new life we were so lucky to have made with one another. After a year of dating, Andrew proposed to me on a family vacation in Navarre Beach, Florida. While planning our wedding, I knew I wanted something close to home. After searching the surrounding area we found the perfect place and got married ten minutes outside of our home town at Matilda’s Event Barn in Troy, Indiana. The venue sits on top of rolling hills overlooking beautiful country farm land. To us, this is what we picture when we think of home. Not only were Andrew and I lucky to have found each other, but our four young children were just as lucky to have found one another. We instantly became a family of six which is not always an easy path but it was so rewarding for us. I am so thankful for the roads in life that came to an end and did not work. I am so thankful for the hard times and rough patches both of us once endured. Because of them, I am even more thankful and appreciative for the love I have been gifted in our relationship. When I am with my husband and our four children, it is hard to imagine there was ever a life before them.” ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY

KELSY & ALEX In Kelsy’s words “Alex and I met at a bonfire at a mutual friend’s house about four and half years ago. I didn’t even really want to go, but my friends begged me to come so of course I went, and I am so glad that I did because it led me straight to Alex. They always say, when it’s the one, you’ll know and that is exactly how it was for Alex and I. From the beginning, I knew he was the man I was going to marry. We dated for about a year and then found out we were excepting the biggest blessing - our little boy, which brought us so much closer. Many people say we did things backwards but we say that we did it just right! We sure wouldn’t have it any other way! Our wedding day was nothing short of perfect! From having our best friends and families beside us, to dancing our hearts out on the dance floor celebrating, it was truly one of the best days of our lives. We wish we could pinpoint our favorite thing but overall it was amazing! We had our rustic, boho theme that we had both hoped for. It was seriously a dream, and we would go back and do it all over again. ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY

KRISTIN & MATT In Kristin’s words, “Matt and I have known each other and been friends for many years. We went to high school together and dated a bit, but it never really worked out when we were younger. Timing was never right. I think the universe knew we needed more time to grow up and become the people we were supposed to be before we would be ready for each other. Now both in our 30’s, I can honestly say he completes me and makes me a better person. He is the piece I didn’t know I was missing, and his 2 sons, Connor and Mason, are the cherries on top. I can’t imagine life without them. We wanted a smaller wedding as we both had been married prior, and it’s good thing we were already planning small, as COVID hit full-force. We decided to have our ceremony by the Ohio River on my parents’ property with our closest family and friends. Matt, I and our families all have a love of the river and being close to water in general. I think the calm of the water brings peace to all our lives in one way or another. It was the perfect spot for our nuptials. We really wanted to incorporate Matt’s sons as much as possible, and we wanted things to be a little more unique. We not only had our vows, but I had vows for his sons as well. I wanted them to know how much they mean to me and that I was not only marrying their dad, but that I planned to be a big part of their lives as well. We decided to do a Wine unity ceremony for us and also do a family unity ceremony with all 4 of us tying a cord of 3 strands that is not easily broken. With the wine unity, Matt had a red wine, I had a white, and we mixed our wines together into our new carafe. The blending of the two wines into one common cup to form a Rosè is symbolic of blending together through a committed relationship in marriage.”

I’m Stuck On Your Heart
DANIELLE & COLIN In Danielle’s words, “Colin and I met in the library on Murray State University's campus in 2012. After being friends for a couple of years, we began dating in 2014. We got engaged on Colin's favorite day of the year, the winter solstice of 2019, in the living room of our home. He loves this day because it marks the shortest day of the year and every day after that gets brighter. We began the hunt for a venue and a photographer almost immediately. While I knew that Courtney at Boulder Creek Photography was who I wanted to be there on our special day, the venue was a tougher choice. After seeing a few, we were able to view the Old Courthouse, and we knew instantly that was our venue! The architecture and elegance of the courthouse was stunning, and we knew that when it came to decor, we would stick to minimal and let the beauty of the building shine through. Our main goal for the wedding was to not only make it special for us, but also for the friends and family who helped get us to this point in our relationship. We incorporated our family into several aspects of the wedding; my sister-in-law, a graphic designer, created all of our invitations and other paper product designs, Colin's sister, a makeup artist, did my makeup, my grandfather made candied pecans to sit out, and Colin's parents helped set up and provided a lot of the food and snacks. The overarching theme for our wedding was "growth", in the relationship and in this new season of our life together, which we incorporated by completing a plant watering "unity" ceremony during the nuptials and having flower seed packets as our favors. We had the best experience and the most perfect wedding!” ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY

Prior to working at Cambridge, Chelsea worked as a case manager and then foster care specialist at DCS. She’s also worked recruiting adoptive parents for DCS. Working for Cambridge runs in the family, though. Her mom was the event coordinator at Cambridge for nearly 10 years. Chelsea had done bridal shows with her and worked some events with her mom. So when her mom retired, they asked if Chelsea would be interested in taking over the role. So she has been the position for three years now! Chelsea loves working with brides and grooms and getting to know their families and being a part of their special day! Chelsea shares, “I love walking into a reception and seeing all of their visions come to life with the decorations. No two weddings are alike. I try my best to make this part of the planning as stress free as possible so that they can enjoy planning and their day.” She goes on to add, “I currently reside in Cambridge, and it is a great community to live in and work at. SAMANTHA & JACOB In Samantha’s words “Jacob and I met in middle school and became friends as the years went on. I had been crushing on him since the 7th grade! He constantly pestered me during class, which is where it all began. The pestering soon turned to flirting, and I fell head over heels for him! His smile and laugh consumed me! This lasted most of the school year, and finally he asked me to be his girlfriend on May 7, 2010. You often hear of high school sweethearts, but in our case we are middle school sweethearts. Jacob finally proposed after 7 years of me pestering him about marrying me. He somehow managed to sneak to the jewelry store with my best friend just to look around, but ended up buying my ring. About a week or two after, he finally popped the question. Shortly after we chose the wedding date and decided on the venue, the Azalea Path, which is absolutely stunning! My papaw was supposed to marry us but he passed in 2018, so Jacob’s brother-in-law married us instead, which was very special to us. We were missing many loved ones whom were there in spirit so we had a memorial table set up with photos to honor them. His sister also surprised us with small photo charms of our papaws whom we had lost. We carried them with us all night.” ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY

LOCAL HISTORY
The Old Post Office
Construction on the Old Post Office started in 1873, and the Old Post Office and Customs House was completed in 1879. The Old Post Office was designed by A.B. Mullett and Company in the Richardsonian Romanesqe style; featuring round arches, stone masonry and towers. This building, like many other historical downtown buildings was built by Charles Pearce and Company. In 1971, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
Today, the Old Post Office is being restored to it’s glory. Many of the improvements you see are actually refurbished original elements.
Daniela Cardili
The crown molding on the NW 2nd Street side was finished by the same group that helped restore the West Baden hotel. Marble in the bathrooms was repurposed after being moved from another area of the building. The “picture windows” are created from photographs that were found at Willard Library. Some of the columns in the room were found buried in the walls that had been added over the years. Daniela Cardili ENGAGED! RIVER VALLEY

KRISTI & JAKE In Kristi’s words, “One Friday night after work, Jake and I were enjoying a couple drinks at Sportsman’s in Evansville with some mutual work friends. Jake had had a long day and was getting up to leave, but before he could get up, I reached out and handed him a beer, saying ‘just one more.’ Just one more turned into a two hour conversation that night, and the beginning of forever best friends and soul mates. Jake and I always make it a mission to have fun no matter what we are doing and we wanted to incorporate that attitude into every detail of our special day. Supporting local, small businesses was very important to us. We wanted to support as many local businesses as possible in making our special day as perfect as it could be. In other words, we did not want it to be a DIY wedding... our view was let's have the local professionals do what they do best. All of our vendors went above and beyond to make the day PERFECT and exactly how I dreamed it to be. We love to have fun, and try to never take life too seriously. As a "surprise" first dance, we asked for all of our friends and family in attendance to come out to the dance floor to get the party started, dancing to one of my favorite Whitney Houston songs, I Wanna Dance With Somebody. This has since become one of my favorite parts of the wedding. Seeing everyone smiling, laughing, and having fun was priceless and I'm sure will be memories everyone will have for many, many years to come. Finally, the one detail that we will always cherish is our vow to always have ‘Just One More’ with each other forever.

MICHELLE & JAKE In high school Michelle and Jake had a few mutual friends, but they were both shy and never really talked to each other. That was until Jake was the talk of the school with his new GTO. Michelle was interested in what all the commotion was about and asked Jake if she could have a ride in his new car. From that day, Michelle and Jake knew that they were very much alike and that they would be the best of friends. After dating for four years, in 2017 Jake took Michelle to her favorite restaurant for a nice Sunday brunch at the Red Geranium in New Harmony IN. After eating, Jake asked Michelle if she would marry him. She was speechless, but of course she said yes! It was on that same day that Michelle and Jake both knew that they also wanted to get married in New Harmony. They couldn’t think of a better place other than the famous Roofless Church, which happens to be right across the street from where they got engaged. Michelle and Jake have been told that they both have old souls for such young people. They both enjoy exploring the musical era of the 50’s and 60’s. One thing many might not have known is that Jake’s suit was an exact replica of Elvis Presley’s wedding suit. Along with this, they even had their first dance to Can’t help falling in love by Elvis. What Michelle had pictured was that of a modern-day vintage wedding. The wedding and reception included a horse drawn carriage, classical music, chandeliers, candles and greenery that all captured this design. Not wanting to forget a single thing and to make the day even more meaningful, Michelle and Jake had all their immediate family and friends say a few words on camera the morning of their big day. Being able to incorporate so many details and so much love made for a perfect and unforgettable wedding.
