Calling all pizza lovers! The Cornish Pizza Company in St Agnes has become a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike throughout the year. In their delightful little shop, owners Tim and Fiona create award winning, freshly made thin-crust pizzas with a Cornish twist, and serve an extensive selection of excellent Cornish craft beers and delicious wines. Handcrafted from local, seasonal ingredients with names reflecting the area’s rich mining history, their pizzas are hand-stretched to order from dough freshly made on the premises, and topped with locally-sourced ingredients. These include Cornish cheeses, local charcuterie and fresh Cornish produce, all cooked in a stone-based Italian oven.
With fantastic, fresh pizzas, great beer on tap and wine by the glass, The Cornish Pizza Company is so much more than your average takeaway! For more information call 01872 553092 or visit www.thecornishpizzacompany.co.uk

ompass North is a stunning costal house situated within the highly prestigious Pentire area of Newquay. Its location really is second to none considering its proximity to the Gannel estuary, Newquay Golf Course and one of the UK’s most highly acclaimed surfing destinations, Fistral beach. The house is exceptionally spacious and is set within a fabulous position enjoying fabulous views of the beach and the bay beyond. It’s also been beautifully maintained by the current owners and is just as appealing internally. It has many excellent features including high ceilings and very generous room sizes throughout. The kitchen dining room is very spacious and there are two reception rooms and a conservatory. Both the ground and first floors enjoy the incredible and far-reaching views along the coast towards Trevose Head. Outside are good-sized gardens that enjoy a good sense of privacy and there is also parking and garaging for several cars. One of the reasons that the Pentire area of Newquay is so sought after is because it hosts such an excellent range of lifestyle activities and fine dining. Lewinnick Lodge at the end of the Pentire Headland has a wonderful restaurant; The Fish House at Fistral is also a dining delight and the landmark Headland Hotel is a must for any foodie. Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant is a little bit further along the coast at Watergate Bay.

THE MARK OF SUCCESS Following on from being awarded the title of 'Best Estate Agency in Cornwall 2017/18’, we catch up with Rohrs & Rowe to find out how they’ve been getting on so far in 2018.
F
rom chatting to the team, it seems like their early successes are continuing at pace in 2018 and that at the time of winning their award, they’d only shown but a fraction of their potential. From what we hear and see, they are proving their niche offering is now excelling in the market place. Their vision and approach of creating something completely different to traditional agencies is now being seen in the sales results which they have achieved in 2018, with the successful sales of some of the highest value properties to be sold in Cornwall so far this year. This is quite an achievement for a company in only its second full year of trading and with several established competitors within the market. In addition, the company has also successfully sold numerous properties off market too. They state the

result they are probably most proud of is that a large number of their sales have been on properties which had previously been for sale with other agencies and quite often for a long time. Rohrs & Rowe's renowned marketing style and innovative campaigns are a major part of their successes and now they are actively seeking more properties, to add to their portfolio of offerings. Off the back of their recent successes, they have a number of active buyers looking for similar aspirational homes all along the Heritage Coast, from Padstow to Portreath. Between them, Martyn and Matthew have a great deal of experience in successfully selling property across Cornwall and have an in-depth knowledge of the Heritage Coast area and all that it has to offer. The owners of one recently sold St Agnes property tell us: “After speaking with several estate agents we chose to use Rohrs & Rowe due to their innovative style of marketing and the level of professionalism shown from the outset. A clear strategy was agreed and excellent marketing material created, which included a stunning drone video of our property and the surrounding location.” Martyn and Matthew explain: “As with everything we do, we aspire to be the best we possibly can. We hope that our passion for the houses we sell and the county in which we live comes through in everything we do. We are beyond delighted that our recent sales figures back u the award that we were so proud to receive and we would be delighted to confidentially s eak with anyone who feels that our marketing style, brand and most importantly, experience could help them, even if they already have their house for sale. The incredible response we have received from the market gives us a great deal of confidence and roves that our unique approach really does work in grabbing the attention of the best buyers.”
With over 50 years of combined agency experience within the company, and a dynamic in-house marketing team, Rohrs & Rowe attribute their success to some simple, but incredibly powerful ingredients: experience, correct and honest advice, passion, unbounded enthusiasm, attention to detail in their marketing and exceptional personal service.

Plus, the package ends with an indulgent cheese board and a refreshing glass of wine in the hotel’s Bay Bar, the perfect spot for watching surfers catch a wave, or to glimpse one of the breathtaking sunsets pour over the Atlantic ocean.
Drawing inspiration from Fistral Spa’s sister spa, the award-winning Gaia Boringdon in lymouth istral a has launched its first Gaia treatment, the Ocean Gaia Ritual. Gaia rituals are designed to identify the three levels of an individual’s wellbeing, recognising the holistic benefits of treatments across mental physical and spiritual domains. Deeply therapeutic, Fistral Spa’s bespoke Ocean aia itual deto ifies the body and releases stress to bring the mind and body back into harmonious balance, whilst improving skin condition to give a head to toe natural glow. Days spent on the beach, in the sea and on the dramatic Cornish coast allow us to reconnect with nature and feel at peace due to the healing properties of the sea. And the spa treatments at Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa have been inspired by these elements of seaside relaxation, in a bid to refresh the body and bring peace and healing to the mind and soul.

Indeed, taking the stress away from the client, giving them more time to focus on the relocation and the new lifestyle they are about to enjoy, is what Mark thrives on. his is one of the great benefits of using this Cornish business: they know the roads and practicalities of a Cornish move better than anyone – ideal when you need to contend with narrow country lanes and cobbled harbours, which whilst pretty can be logistically challenging. Mark’s son, Matt Lane, is the company’s Operations Director, tasked with coordinating the trucks, ensuring everything runs smoothly as you would expect. Another perk is the possibility of oneway mileage, offered for selected dates, which can provide savings of up to £700! Two other technical innovations include the online instant price calculator, which gives a good indication of what the removal might cost, and the video survey – ideal for out-of-county clients, where a home visit is unfeasible. Mark personally responds to each quote individually, following up with more detailed information. However, the video survey is the really smart bit – a great example of a service that goes above and beyond. Using specially developed software, the client gives a tour of their house via their smartphone or tablet. “We get a very clear understanding of their needs and concerns,” says Mark. “Having
some face-to-face interaction, albeit through technology, helps to provide a personal touch – we’re not just an anonymous company!” From this video survey, Mark uses his experience to work out the number of boxes and overall volume required, creating a detailed itinerary. It’s an extremely effective way of identifying any issues, such as items that will require extra special care, in advance of arrival. Britannia Lanes has been using this technology for just over 12 months and Mark says the feedback has been phenomenal. “It’s much more accurate than the typical estimate,” says Mark, “plus crews are better informed on what to expect and what packaging they’ll need.” In the last few months, for example, Britannia Lanes has carried out several relocations with high value or irreplaceable items including pianos, large oil paintings, grandfather clocks, mantle clocks and large antique tables. But nothing is too much trouble for the crews, who treat every move with the respect that they would with their own items. This is exactly what you want when moving all your rized ossessions and starting your new life elsewhere. So, if you are thinking of making that move yourself, stop thinking and put the plan in action! Why not start by visiting the Britannia Lanes website and going from there? It might just be the smartest move you ever make!

LONG RUN When you commission Oltco to complete a driveway project, you can always be sure of both quality and reliability.
W
hen it comes to employing contractors to carry out work, the two big considerations at the forefront of most people’s minds are quality and reliability. You need to be able to put your full trust in them, especially when you’re not the expert yourself. So when we met Oltco Directors Tom Stringer and John Pearce a few months back, it was so refreshing to witness a company that embraces these traits as part of their business ethos, a company that does things properly and has got the balance just right. Tom and John’s work ethos is very simple: “feeling good about the work we do and the decisions we make.” Ensuring that the customer is well cared for and gets the quality of service they were expecting is paramount. An unusual approach for a driveway company but one that has seen them go from a resin flooring contractor to a leading installer of resin bound gravel driveways in the south west and beyond.
With the popularity for resin bound gravel driveways reaching an all time high it’s not sur rising to find a number of new and o up’ companies have arrived on the market; something Tom and John are keenly aware of given the number of driveways they have had to re-lay for people. Taking the feel good factor of their business to the extreme, Tom and John have fi ed a number of driveways in their home town of Newquay which had been partially or badly installed by o u ’ resin bound gravel installers. John tells us: “A large part of building our business over the years has been to educate eo le in the benefits of resin bound gravel. In the early days most had never heard of it. Our reputation has been built through hard work and good ethics we want eo le to feel confident in our product, which is why we were the first com any in the UK to give a 20-year guarantee.”

"
One happy customer, Mr Turner from Newquay, says: “The Oltco team have transformed our garden from an untidy, unusable area into a clean and tidy outside space for our family to enjoy. An amazing product installed by a friendly and professional team – they come highly recommended.” Oltco resin bound gravel driveways come with a genuine 20-year guarantee. If you’re wondering how they are able to guarantee the product for 20 years the response is simple: experience, research and trial and error. Oltco has been testing and evolving its product for years and the team are constantly looking to improve their service. Tom has some handy hints to making sure you find an installer who you can trust. “Check the company’s reputation, online and with previous customers. Go and see a few of their jobs locally and speak to the owners. Another important thing to check is the standard of resin being used by each installer
– there are varying qualities and costs and durability are affected accordingly.” Oltco is constantly investing in the company and with huge plans for the future including the launch of nationwide Oltco franchises the com any is definitely in it for the long haul.

There’s a wealth of wildlife around Gwithian with no less than four nature reserves. Gwithian Green is a small reserve at the heart of the village where there’s eight identified habitats from grassland to wetland and woodland. Spot animals and mini beasts here including the rarely-sighted and wonderfully named whirlygig beetle. At Gwithian Towans the beach is blasted by Atlantic breezes, making it perfect for windsurfing and kite flying. And Upton Towans and the Red River Valley tell a tale of the area’s industrial past. Formerly homes to the National Explosives Factory and one of the most industrialised mining valleys in Cornwall, they’ve both been reclaimed by nature.

NICE SLICE Be sure to sample a takeaway from Cornish Pizza Company while you’re in St Agnes. Their pizzas are all named after local mines and feature 12-inch bases made from organic dough and Cornish meat and veggie toppings. We’re big fans of the Wheal Alfred with crumbled goats cheese, tomato sauce, onion marmalade, semi-sundried tomatoes, black olives and fresh rocket. They’re licensed to serve alcohol and vegan mozzarella is available on request.

When you reach the hidden cove of Chapel Porth, don’t miss the chance to sample one of the lesser-known Cornish delicacies. St Agnes Try the clifftop walk from Chapel Porth to St Agnes and you’ll pass Wheal Coates, one of the most photographed and, indeed, iconic engine houses in the county. On a clear day this is a fabulous spot to watch the sunset and gaze to the heavens for a spot of star-gazing after dark. Once you’re in t gnes find the uni ue Stippy Stappy cottages with their stepped roofs and follow the little path beside them down to the sheltered beach below. Getting out onto the water from here is a memorable experience – try a kayak, boat trip or Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and glide over quiet waters, spotting seals and exploring caves along the way before stopping for a picnic
in a secluded cove. There’s a proper local butchers, bakers and fruit and veg shop in St Agnes too, making it a great place to stock u on tasty local su lies. ou’ll also find plenty of local independent shops here, like Churchtown Arts, an emporium of gifts for the home and family located in one of the oldest listed buildings in town. If you’re a lover of a great pub then don’t miss the Driftwood Spas where the on-site microbrewery brews seven ales. The food is excellent too – making it the perfect spot to warm u by the fire after a blustery winter walk.
POLDARK COUNTRY There are lots of places in Cornwall that claim the title of ‘Poldark Country’ and the landscape around St Agnes has an excellent claim. It provided the original inspiration for author Winston Graham, who lived just up the coast in Perranporth. The Stippy Stappy cottages in St Agnes feature in all seven books in the series.

Crantock Located at the mouth of the River Gannel Estuary, lovely Crantock Village feels a world away from its busy neighbours. Life here moves at a slower pace with lazy beach days and winding walks the order of the day. Visit southwestcoastpath.org.uk for lots of walk suggestions. The main pub in Crantock village is housed in a 400-year-old thatched building and the local church stands on land considered holy since the 5th century. Not much survives of the original church building, but the original stained glass windows are still here and tell the story of St Carantoc for whom the church is named.
HIP HAPPENINGS From sun-drenched music festivals to surfing world championships, events and dates for your diary are legion along this stretch of coast. CORNWALL’S BEST HIDDEN BEACH? Don’t be fooled by the name – Polly Joke or Porth Joke is a peach of a beach, set between soaring cliffs. Just five miles from Newquay this is about as secluded as it gets. The secret is to go searching down country lanes, find the unmarked gate and follow the bumpy track on the other side for about a mile to a National Trust car park. Or walk in from Crantock or Pentode along the coast path. We guarantee it’s worth hunting for.

If you’re looking for the perfect British seaside holiday then head straight for Perranporth. A wide, sandy beach, great waterfront restaurants and a bar on the beach make this the perfect destination for beach bunnies. Relax with a pint of cider at The Watering Hole down on the sands while the kids build a castle. Or try your hand at a host of water sports activities with surf and kite-buggy schools operating on the beach and sailing and body boarding also popular here. The beach is also dog friendly all year. If sand and sea isn’t your style then explore the area’s history at Perranporth Museum where you’ll find an e hibition of early surfboards as well as costume displays from different eras. Getting hungry after all those adventures? Try Chrissy’s tearoom for cream teas with delicious fluffy heart-sha ed scones or sample a curry at Massala – one of our favourite Indian restaurants in Cornwall.
The miles of golden sands at Holywell Bay are enough to satisfy any beach lover and in winter this is a fantastic place for storm-watching. At high tide the 60-foot sand dunes mean there’s always somewhere to have a picnic and at low tide you can spot the wreck of S.S. Francia, an Argentinian coaster that ran aground in 1917. Close-by at Holywell Fun Park self-drive rides, pitch and putt golf and a magical maze will keep families entertained for hours. The unspoilt beauty of the bay here saw it chosen as a location for some of the scenes in Series 2 of the BBC’s Poldark.
Newquay
Newquay Fantastic for families by day and a partytown at night, Newquay is also the jewel in the UK’s surf crown with all of the major tournaments taking place here. Fistral beach is arguably the king of all British beaches and one of the world’s top surf spots thanks to powerful, hollow waves that regularly reach six to eight feet high. Towan and Great Western beaches, a little further along the coast are also easily accessible from the town centre and all offer great learner waves and numerous surf schools to get you hanging ten. For family fun there are lots of attractions in Newquay to keep you busy. Have a close encounter with sharks, loggerhead turtles and a giant acific octo uses at the Blue eef Aquarium and visit lions, monkeys, penguins and more at Newquay Zoo.

LIVE MUSIC SUNDOWNERS If you love live music then there are two unmissable live venues along this stretch of Cornwall’s heritage coast. The first is the UK’s only bar on a beach – The Watering Hole at Perranporth. Alongside their annual Tunes in the Dunes Festival in early July, the bar also hosts regular gigs from local and national artists. And just outside Newquay is secluded Lusty Glaze Beach. This natural oceanfront amphitheatre here has hosted artists including Morcheeba, Razorlight, the Kooks and the Levellers, all set against the haunting backdrop of Atlantic sunsets. No wonder it was chosen as the most picturesque spot for live music in the UK by The Times newspaper.

ith winter on the way, we’re looking for ways in which to enjoy our gardens despite the cooler weather – and what better way to do so than slipping into a luxurious, soothing hot tub? The great thing about hot tubs is that they can be enjoyed any time of year, whatever the weather – ideal for those overcast days we’ve had too much of recently. With this in mind, we were excited to hear recently about a Cornish success story, with OC Spas making a splash on the national stage – the perfect excuse for cracking open some bubbles! The dealership was formed in 2015 by husband and wife team, Jonny and Lucy Bottrell and within its first year of business notched up two industry awards. This year the couple have won again, scooping the prestigious ‘Spa Retailer of the Year, Gold Standard Award’ at the UK Pool and Spa Awards in Birmingham. Christina Connor, publisher of Hot Tub and Swim Spa Scene magazine says of the awards: he com etition raises the rofile of the entire water leisure industry and recognises com anies that rovide us with first class hot tubs and swim spas.” Located next to Goonhavern Garden Centre near Truro, OC Spas is an exclusive Artesian Spas dealership, with a selection of hot tubs, swim spas, chemicals and accessories on display. “We offer all potential clients the
opportunity to wet test our showroom spas,” says Lucy. “We do this after opening hours where they get the showroom all to themselves, and we give them a couple of hours of pure indulgence. We have changing rooms, e ui ed with fluffy towels and O as robes and a fridge fully stocked with prosecco!” Lucy continues: “Our clients appreciate a more discreet and sophisticated level of shopping. A hot tub is an extremely personal item, and the relationship they have with their chosen hot tub dealer doesn’t just stop at the point of purchase.” OC Spas stocks only the most luxurious hot tubs and accessories, its bestselling models being the Antigua and the Nevis, both from Artesian’s Island Spa range. The range offers a selection of hand-sculptured, high quality hot tubs, chosen for their hydrotherapy, energy e ciency water uality enhancing features and patented Helix jet design. A contemporary mixed media textile artist, it’s predominantly Jo’s work that adorns the walls of this unique old building in the heart of St Agnes, Peterville, and one or two other guest artists are showcased each year. She tells us: “I live minutes from the studio but will often walk via the cliff tops and beach, and I take much ins iration from em ty coves first thing in the morning. Barefoot. Exploring the rockpools. It’s my quiet time to absorb, sketch and observe the treasures I want to share with the world. This inspires Jo's sustainable ethos, reusing plastics and other materials destined for landfill. his year o celebrates the five-year anniversary of what started as a pop up and stayed up. The building is still known to many of the locals as the Old Laundrette and it seems appropriate that it once again houses textiles, which can often be seen hanging from lines to dry. A love of expressing the vibrant colours of our Cornish coastal ecosystems is balanced by work in muted, softer tones, natural wools, calicos and dyes, which means there’s something for all tastes and wallets. It’s exciting to see the work in progress, always layering and experimenting. Some artists focus on one piece at a time, Jo likes the freedom to move among several depending on mood, weather, and the desire to work in one technique or another. Her sketchbooks are also out for eo le to flick through sharing the thread between finished works and the artist’s head. Jo continues: “I gratefully draw on the knowledge of local historians, marine ecologists, geologists and fishermen weaving all this wisdom into the varied as ects of my work. o’s stitch ma s are a fantastic example, developed over many years and are much sought after by locals of several generations and visitors alike. Watergate Bay What better place to start your journey than beautiful Watergate Bay with its two miles of golden sand. This large, open bay has good conditions for surfing and body-boarding and you can learn form the pros at a number of surf schools. There are plenty of fantastic places to eat here too. Step right off the sand for brunch at The Beach Hut for the perfect start to a lazy morning, or treat yourself to sundowners and a romantic meal at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall, where we love the Cornish Summer cocktail, featuring local wine and raspberries, alongside ead hef dam Banks’ five or seven-course aster enu.
RELAX AND RECHARGE Longing to let go of the stresses and strains of everyday life and really relax? Try one of the spiritual spas found on this stretch of coast. The Scarlett Spa at Mawgan Porth combines wild Atlantic views with spaces to relax. This luxury, adult-only eco spa helps you to unwind using the principles of Ayurveda with a unique Cornish twist. Hanging in one of their cocoon-like relaxation pods after a cliff top hot tub is our ultimate chill-out experience. At Watergate Bay the zingy Swim Club offers a chance for all the family to enjoy their 25-metre infinity pool and in summer they offer pop-up beach massages alongside their comprehensive spa treatment menu.

Bedruthan Steps Local legend has it that these colossal rock stacks were created when the giant Bedruthan took a stroll along the coastline. eo le have lived in this area since the Bronze Age and today it’s one of the most visited parts of the coast. The 'wow' factor here is undeniable with magnificent views across the Atlantic, windswept headlands and rugged cliff to walks to enjoy. f the weather gets stormy, seek shelter in the little National Trust café and just gaze out.
LET THE PLANE TAKE THE STRAIN This stretch of coastline is just a hop and a step from Cornwall’s Newquay Airport. Direct flights to and from destinations including Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmignham, Dublin, Glasgow, Leeds/ Bradford, Manchester, Doncaster/Sheffield, London Gatwick and Stansted make this by far the fastest way to travel.
Padstow here’s a bay for everyday around adstow with Trevone, Constantine, Treyarnon and Harlyn bays amongst those within easy reach. andcastle building surfing rock ooling swimming, sunbathing and gawping at the beauty of nature are just some of the popular activities in these parts. Around the harbourside you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to eateries, shops and things to do. Kids love fishing for crabs from the harbour wall and bigger kids can take a boat out into the bay to catch bigger fish for the barbeque. Coastal cruises to the offshore islands are a great way to get closer to nature and spot a variety of seabirds and marine life. And cycling or walking the nearby Camel Trail is a great way to get everyone out and active away from the coast.
A PROPER CORNISH CHRISTMAS Padstow Christmas Festival is Cornwall’s biggest festive celebration. Held in early December, it’s brimming with demos from top chefs, lots of local produce and gifts, and you can greet Father Christmas under Padstow’s twinkling Christmas lights. This is the perfect way to get into the foodie festive spirit with plenty of ideas for your own table.

riginally a snack bar and restaurant with accommodation, he errymoor nn was first acquired by Sidney and Hilda Evans, grandparents of current landlord, Nick Bennett. They moved to Cornwall in 1961, obtained a full licence for a public house in 1964, and added an extension to increase letting rooms. Their daughter Lynne and son-in-law Dudley then took over the running of the pub in 1974 whilst raising their two children Sara and Nick. Nick tells us: “Our aim has always been to provide good beer, good food and comfortable accommodation by the beach to locals and visitors in Mawgan Porth bay.” As it was when it began, The Merrymoor is still very much a family affair and has developed and grown with time into a beautiful pub, serving exceptional food in a brilliant location. he errymoor also benefits from its own beauty salon, Emerald, run by Nick's wife Jennifer! Nick continues: “John Fish is our head of catering. He aspires to keep our food menus exciting and seasonal, using quality fresh, locally-sourced produce and has worked hard with the team over the last four years to develop our menus and train them to produce a high standard of food.” The Merrymoor Inn's menu caters for everyone's palate, starting with freshly cooked English breakfasts alongside fresh mackerel and the popular kickstart of granola, fresh fruit and yoghurt. “Lunchtimes by the beach are a must with favourites such as freshly prepared mussels, hand cut sandwiches, beer battered haddock and chips and our chefs' vibrant salads, just to mention a few! here is also a daily fish s ecials menu served lunchtimes and evenings and, as the sun sets over the bay, garlic king prawns are
a must-try, paired with a bottle of New Zealand sauvignon blanc or a pint of St Austell Brewery's Tribute ale. Or you could try a prime sirloin steak, or one of the famous 'Dirt Bag Burgers', stacked high with an 8oz burger, cheese, bacon, pulled pork, coleslaw and barbeque sauce, all made inhouse by our fantastic team!" When discussing plans for the future Nick tells us: “Next year we are re-designing our beer garden in what is set to be a very exciting project, incorporating an outside kitchen to provide our customers with a truly memorable experience right next to Mawgan Porth beach. We've had fantastic support from our regulars, so as a thank you, we want to give something back for them to enjoy! We'd also like to thank our incredible team for all the hard work they have and continue to do!” Again, this shows that the team are constantly adapting and improving the pub to make eating and staying at The Merrymoor an even more enjoyable experience. As well as great food The Merrymoor also provides seven en-suite rooms on a bed and breakfast basis, with most benefitting from dramatic views of the beach and cliffs beyond as well as a mouth-watering breakfast menu with bread delivered daily from the famous Chough Bakery in Padstow. So, make sure to visit The Merrymoor and enjoy the comforting menu of pub classics served alongside the stunning scenery of Mawgan Porth beach.

Being both family and dog friendly, the Tywarnhayle is unsurprisingly popular, having built a reputation for excellent food and superb Cornish ales (including doggy ales and treats!), which combine fabulously with a kids menu, board games and second-to-none customer service from the friendly team. On finer days there’s a lovely beer garden to be enjoyed, and even if the wind is blowing, the authentic beach hut booths will shelter you from the elements, so you can still enjoy a meal al fresco! Along with a daily specials board serving up the region’s delectable seafood and Cornish cream teas a real hit during the warmer months the team also runs a carvery all day on Sunday until 9pm, with live music during the afternoon. Combining practicality, spatial awareness and local inspiration, Tracey Mannell could help transform your living space.
ased in Cornwall, interior designer Tracey Mannell has a wealth of knowledge and expertise, offering her clients a lifeline in a sea of ever-changing interior trends. Working with home owners, hoteliers and owners of holiday lets, Tracey has built a reputation for creating elegant, contemporary interiors that suit Cornwall’s rich, coastal landscape. As a dynamic and innovative interior designer, Tracey offers a personalised and dedicated service that is sympathetic towards space and location and how you intend your space to be used. She explains: “I believe that interiors should reflect a ro erty’s architectural design and location.” When it comes to decorating and furnishing, Tracey tells us that the house can very much be a blank canvas. By making just a few changes to your interior, you can make the world of difference. If you’re hoping to update your home, here a few of Tracey’s top tips to help you do so. Firstly, be practical. “Think about the longevity of your décor. If you’re looking to update a family home or holiday let, light-coloured carpets and bed linen may not be the best o tion. nstead choose floor coverings and fabrics that are practical as well as beautiful.”
Next, Tracey continues: “Pay attention to space. Creating a feeling of space can be really important. When updating your interiors, consider the functionality of the space. Conversely, leaving too much blank space can make your home look sparse and unfinished. Finally, use the local area as inspiration. Wherever you are in Cornwall, there is so much to enflame your imagination. “Why not bring the great outdoors into your interior space? Add local touches by including local artwork, pictures of the nearby coast or countryside, or even local materials such as wood or stone.” If you’re looking to start your own design project, or would like advice on choosing colour schemes and purchasing items, why not contact Tracey? Her eye for colour and detail will help guide you through the process of transforming your space, leaving you with an interior in which you’ll love spending time.

VIBES Introducing Spinriver Design – a family run interior design business in the heart of vibrant Cornwall.
E
stablished in 2009 by Rachel Bogdaniec, a degree ualified interior designer and project manager, Spinriver Design provides interior design services across the Duchy with prestigious clients such as Retallack Resort and St Austell Print Company as well as many private residential clients. Rachel tells us: “People often ask me how I got into interior design... I've had a lifelong passion for design since I was a child, working in the industry since I was 15. Years later I graduated in interiors then worked on large corporate programmes and hospitality projects, including global projects with ESPA International, the renowned luxury spa design and skincare brand." Rachel's husband Martin, who has a background in Business Development, plans to grow Spinriver Design in and around Cornwall. Martin states: "Customer satisfaction is at the heart of what we do and we take the utmost care to provide a quality service with attention to detail no matter what the scale of a project may be." Spinriver Design offer services to the commercial and hospitality sectors including: contract fabrics, furniture, soft furnishings and upholstery to the latest industry standards. On larger projects they can also offer project management to ensure you
minimise stress and save your time for the things you love. They also enable private clients to achieve a blend of quality coastal and country schemes that last well and look fantastic. Their rivate clients can benefit from a friendly professional and discreet end to end service, sourcing artwork and sculpture as well as coordinating custom details and finishes. Rachel explains: "As a family we love to travel to surf spots around places such as California and Bali each year for inspiration. Martin is a keen surfer and my daughters and I love trying new spa and wellness treatments. We're inspired by a shared passion for design and travel and it's this passion that continues to drive us to create an exciting new design approach for clients infusing design principles from feng shui and sacred geometry to enhance our services on a new level. It's creating an expression of the personality or place that makes it a memorable experience; it's not about us, it's about expressing our clients' energy or brand."
