This workbook is designed to guide you through Engineered Efficiency’s Civil 3D Core Concepts training and is intended to be used in conjunction with “Mastering Civil 3D”. Using “Mastering Civil 3D” as a resource, this document outlines the appropriate exercises to perform, and at times supplements the book, to create a learning curriculum ideal for a comprehensive but fundamental understanding of Civil 3D. This document cannot be purchased and is available exclusively to EE customers that are eligible to participate in this training.

DO
Introduction
, In c.
In this part you will be introduced to Civil 3D styles. As you will discover, styles are key to controlling the appearance and behavior of nearly everything you create in Civil 3D. The following is a summary of each exercise you will perform in this chapter:
dE ffic
ien cy
Exercise 1 – Working with Styles During this exercise you will change the style assignment of a surface and examine the affects. You will then edit a style to see how objects respond when the style they are referencing is modified. Exercise 2 – Creating a Label Style During this exercise, you will create a new style for labeling spot elevations.
ng ine

The goal of Part 2 is to familiarize you with Civil 3D styles and to give you a basic understanding of how styles will affect your drawings. At the end of this part, you will also have a basic understanding of how styles are created.

In this part, you experienced the use styles to control the appearance and behavior of Civil 3D objects. Although you only observed one object (a surface) and one type of label style (spot elevation), the concepts you have learned carry through to all object types and label styles. Understanding and mastering styles is an important part of learning Civil 3D for a firm as a whole. It is not necessary for every person on the team to be able to create complex styles, but all users should understand how to apply styles that have been provided for them. As for style creation, every firm should have one or more style experts on staff or the firm should employ a consultant to build and manage styles for it.
