Oscar Wilde Bar
As you walk in to the Oscar Wilde Bar you feel like you have been transported back in time with the architecture of the room with its rich deep reds and gold with mirrors round the entire room. The room its self is small but the mirroring giving it a much bigger feel so much so you are in a French revolutionary period grand ball room. The main features in the centre of the room are the bar area and on the other side a marvellous Grand piano which is used for acts and part of the black cat cabaret. We were shown to our seat by the very attentive front of house staff and made to feel at easy and very welcome. The menu is a lovely small selection of foods that caters for everyone’s taste. Sea food, meat and vegetarian options are all available. The drinks and wine list are also very extensive. The lobster cocktail was for starters the tail meat served in the shell on a bed of lettuce with lemon dressing topped with Mary Rose impeccably with the lobster head also on display. The Course that followed was succulent lamb skewers served accompanied the lamb was like a satay but was very light and not over powering. This was not too sweet or nutty it was just right and fusion style dish. The last course was recommended to me by our waiter. The summer fruits cheese cake. From what I was told by the waiter the cafÊ royal kitchen is known for the cheese cake as the seasons the summer, strawberry and passion fruit. This dish is truly amazing, From the biscuit base, the light sweet moose like top and the lemon sorbet served on the side gave the right balance of sweet of the moose and acidity of the lemon which you need to get right. Needless to say the chef again blew us away with this dish. This was a truly unforgettable dining experience with the atmosphere of the room, the great front of house staff and the sensational food all contributing to a truly amazing evening.

Table Lighting
Hotelier & Hotel Design - August 2014
Table Lighting in restaurants and bars can dramatically enhance the ambience, this can help to improve footfall and the duration of time spent by customers in your establishment thereby maximising the revenue generated.
42
There is a plethora of types of lighting and styles available, which means that there should be something to complement all styles of décor and design. Traditional Candles are available in many different guises and still widely used in many hotels and restaurants. Most popular are the 10 inch Tapered Candle and Pillar Candle. Candles have many disadvantages including wastage, damage to décor through discolouring and the risk of fire. In some cases some insurers will not allow the use of naked flame. Tea Lights are cheap but can be messy, quite often burning out mid-session. Wax filled glass containers known as
Low Boys are a variation on the candle and have the advantage of a long burn time up to 60 hours and are disposable. There are however many other alternative forms of table lighting that can overcome many of the disadvantages detailed. Fuel Cell lamps offer a naked flame but with the advantage of safety. The lamps use fuel cells containing an odourless non toxic mineral oil that will only burn in conjunction with a wick and are designed with a deco sleeve to cover the fuel cell so the flame is extinguished if accidentally knocked over. Refillable Oil Lamps are another alternative offering many of the advantages of fuel cell lamps. Made of glass they are elegant and can be filled with either clear or coloured oils. A more recent innovation is the introduction of battery candles and rechargeable led tea lights. These offer the advantages of safety and economy, also most models are now available with remote controls. Rechargeable
tea lights are available in different luminosities and white or changeable colour versions. Battery candles are made from a wax material to look like the real thing. Some models use a flickering bulb but the latest versions have a simulated flame that looks like the real thing, which is very effective. The Shaded Lamps from TDL use rechargeable ultra-bright tea lights and offer the advantage of a quality look with no electric cables. Bespoke Shades can also be made to fit your décor. TDL are one of the leading suppliers of table lighting products to the hospitality business and can supply all the products detailed and more. Check their candle and tea light prices which are some of the most competitive around. They can be contacted on 01608 682506 or by email to sales@tabledl.co.uk Visit their website www.tabledl.co.uk

will open this summer. For intimate celebrations, private cocktail gatherings and luxury product launches, the hotel’s three river-facing event spaces offer a London event experience like no other. Located on Level 34, they are connected to the sky lobby by a grand staircase with a vista of St. Paul’s Cathedral and beyond.
Sleep represents the best in hotel design, development and architecture. Our curated exhibition, concept spaces and conference inspire hotel interiors across the globe. Be part of something special. www.thesleepevent.com
