Brandon Herrin, 14, of York Township received his Eagle Scout rank on Dec. 12, 2017 in Troop 183, which is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in York Township. Brandon, a sophomore at Dallastown Area High School, is the son of Curtis and Jamie Herrin. For Brandon’s Eagle Scout project, he and a crew of Boy Scouts and community groups completed a coordinated project in Wrightsville. The Scouts and adult men replaced the badly worn split-rail fence around the Civil War-era Union Cemetery in the 200 block of Chestnut Street in the town. This was the first of several updates planned by Historic Wrightsville Inc., and it was the third time Brandon had worked on humanitarian projects in Wrightsville. Working with Mormon Helping Hands in 2015 and 2016, Brandon helped to clear the grass and weeds along Front Street bordering the Susquehanna River in the Wrightsville area. Brandon’s Court of Honor took place at the church on June 12. Special guest Alan Gardner, Brandon’s grandfather, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, presented the Eagle Scout award to Brandon. Brandon selected Justin Loar to receive the mentor pin. Brandon’s future plans include receiving his high school diploma, followed by serving a mission for his church and attending college.

Brandon Herrin (celebrated) attained the Eagle Scout rank and celebrated with his parents, Jamie (left) and Curtis Herrin.
