street art. A contest will invite artists to paint environmentally themed murals around storm drains in downtown York. Each storm drain will tell a story so people stop and think about where the water flows after it enters the storm drain. Each participant must submit their original design to drainart.york@ gmail.com by Friday, July 20. Individuals must include their name, address, phone number, and email address with the submitted artwork. Artists will then be selected by a panel of local artists and community leaders. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place. The goal is to have three storm drains painted by Friday, Aug. 24, so they can be seen during Yorkfest on Aug. 25 and 26. Artists must currently reside in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, must be able to paint their submitted design at a designated storm drain and must read and follow the Memorandum of Agreement found on the project website. For more information, readers may visit www.street2creek.org or email drainart.york@gmail .com or contact Jodi Sulpizio at 717-840-7408 or email jrb143@psu.edu. Kristin Phillips-Hill, South Eastern School District superintendent Jeffrey Hughes, and Jerry Barbour, a veteran from American Legion Post 182. Service members in attendance at the assemblies received flowers. To celebrate the completion of the program, students took a field trip to Washington, D.C. The trip included a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, followed by tours of the Capitol Building and visits to the U.S. Representatives and Senate
