A panel of experts representing victim services, law enforcement, legislative representatives and education professionals will explore the issues affecting the community and discuss how one can be an agent of change to work toward the prevention of violence in the community. As the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program provider for York County, the Community Progress Council WIC Program has extended its hours at the Hanover Community Center Offices of Community Progress Council. The Hanover Community Center is located in the New Hope Ministries building, 135 Baltimore St., Hanover. Newly expanded hours will be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., except from noon to 12:50 p.m. when closed for lunch. Hours will be available from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month, except from 1 to 1:50 p.m. when closed for lunch. WIC provides supplemental food and nutrition education for pregnant and breastfeeding women, mothers who have given
birth within the past six months, infants and children up to the age of 5. Eligibility for WIC is based on income, residency and medical/dietary-based conditions. Individuals interested in joining the WIC program may begin a pre-application at www.pawic .com. Preservation Society Posts Meeting The Glen Rock Historic Preservation Society will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the town museum, 1 Manchester St., Glen Rock. State Rep. Kristin Phillips-Hill has been nominated as the 2018 Statesman of the Year by York County Action and the Conservative Christian Center (CCC). She has confirmed that she will attend the annual awards breakfast and candidate forum at the York County Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 6. United States Congressman Scott Perry, the 2017 award winner, has also confirmed he will attend.
Public comment is being sought about this year’s nominee before the final vote of the Conservative Christian Center to choose its Statesman of the Year. Senior Center Sets Schedule The South Central York County Senior Center, 150 E. Main St., New Freedom, has announced its upcoming activities.
