The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and many groups across the country observe National Wear Red Day each year on the first Friday in February to raise awareness about heart disease as the leading cause of death among Americans, especially women. The AHA notes that heart disease and stroke symptoms can present differently in women as compared to men. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health and supported locally by companies throughout central Pennsylvania. CVS Health will offer no-cost heart health screenings at MinuteClinic locations nationwide on select Thursdays in February. To learn more, readers may visit https://cvshealth .com/social-responsibility/our -giving/go-red-for-women. Readers may make a donation to support the cause at www.wearred day.org.
