Tips Posted For Holiday Decorating Home and business owners have many choices when it comes to holiday decorating, ranging from traditional to trendy and even off-beat. Neil Brenneman of Christmas Decor of Lancaster in Dallastown says that whatever decorating scheme is preferred, the most important idea to keep in mind is cohesiveness. Each component of outdoor decorating contributes to the overall effect of the holiday display. When shopping for outdoor décor, homeowners should always consider how each new piece is going to work with what they already own. Brenneman offers some suggestions to help refresh any out-
door display. Over-sized pieces like 3-D snowflakes, stars, or deer figures create a focal point and can add impact and interest to the yard display. Colored bulbs should be used in one or two places - a roofline or a single, showpiece tree or shrub, for example - to create subtle depth in a traditional cool white light display. People are encouraged to get creative and personalize their display with natural materials like pinecones, holly branches, twigs, and other items with bark-like textures. Readers may contact Brenneman at 717-947-0026 or christ masdecoroflancaster@gmail.com. Readers may also learn more at www.christmasdecor.net.

The $10,000 cash award was presented on Oct. 12 at the Spanish-American Multicultural Resource Center’s festival at Crispus Attucks. Caban then gave a musical performance. Caban, born Ana Mercado, is an independent artist from York. She is an entrepreneur, owner of Royal Court Barber Lounge and founder of the annual “Back to School Giveathon.” Her discography includes “Made for This” and “La Barbera.” The Artist Innovator Award was created to highlight and reward the exceptional level of artistic talent that exists in York County. Caban was chosen as the winner after a panel of peer reviewers and jurors from outside York County and across the nation narrowed down the search to seven finalists and then to a single winner from those seven. Artists who work in any medium and live in York County are invited to create a profile of their work at www.york365.com in order to be considered for next year’s award. For additional information on the award, including how to be considered in 2021, readers may visit www.culturalyork.org/ artistinnovatoraward. Healthy Aging Workshops Slated The York County Area Agency on Aging will host free educational workshops about the “10 Keys to Healthy Aging.” The workshops will be held virtually on Tuesdays, Dec. 8 through Jan. 5, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The free workshops will be taught by a certified Health Ambassador through the Area Agency on Aging. Each workshop will cover two topics. Attendees will receive a free resource manual that provides information on preventative strategies. A computer and internet access are required as the class will be held via Zoom. Preregistration is required. Readers may call Megan Craley at 717771-9610, ext. 1017, to register.
