Two nights earlier the Lady Buckskins used 28 points from Taylor Hehnly to outlast McCaskey 69-68. CV used big second (17-7) and fourth (2614) quarter runs to pull out the one-point win. Laela Robinson added 13 points and Morgan Martin 11 to back Hehnly. On January 18th Hehnly was the lone Lady Buckskin to reach double figures, getting to exactly 10 in the 68-48 loss to Manheim Township. The Lady Streaks controlled all but the final frame where CV posted a 13-6 edge. BOYS’ BASKETBALL The boys’ basketball team sits at 5-7 after losses to McCaskey and Manheim Township coupled with a win over Lancaster Mennonite. Conestoga Valley found the defensive pressure against the Red Tornado too much, falling 52-33 on January 13th. CV’s 33 points were split between just five players with DeMajh Salisbery (12 points) and Cameron Swinton (11 points) the only double-digit scorers. The Buckskins rebounded on the 15th, nipping Lancaster Mennonite 76-74 thanks to matching 24-point efforts from Swinton and Salisbery. Griffin Rishell added 14 points and Titus York 12 points while Nasziir Anderson cleaned up the final two. Salisbery continued to score, netting 27, but it did not help as CV fell to Township by a 7568 final on the 18th. Rishell added 19 in support but a faulty fourth quarter saw Manheim post a 26-14 edge, flipping CV’s five-point cushion into a seven-point loss. WRESTLING In the case of the CV wrestling team, busy did not translate into sweeping success with the Buckskins falling to Cocalico and Warwick offsetting a win over Manheim Township last Wednesday. In both losses strong starts were undone with late fades leading to a 34-27 loss to Cocalico and a 33-32 loss to Warwick. On January 12th, CV earned all five of their wins in the first eight bouts but that 21-14 lead ended up as a loss with the Eagles winning the final five weights. Bryce Bowman (120), Luke Morley (126), Keaton Fisher (145), Luke Needham (152) and Nathaniel Kirchner (172) accounted for those five wins.

Nastia Ivanchikov posted times of 2:25.58 and 6:36.95 to finish first in the 200 and 500 freestyles and give the Conestoga Valley girls two of their four individual event wins in their 94-66, nonleague loss at McCaskey on January 13.

Rome Lucchese posted a double with a 1:06.01 win in the 100 Backstroke and a 1:09.93 win in the 100 butterfly to help the Buckskins to a 103-50, nonleague win over host McCaskey on January 13.
Things played out in a similar fashion in the Buckskins’ loss to Warwick on the 14th. This time CV took six total bouts with five coming in the first eight matches. Morley’s win at 120 was the outlier, breaking up Warwick’s run to victory. Fischer (145), Abdoul Akala (160), Jonathan Lopez (189), Zander Rider (215) and Mukhammed Karayev (285) accounted for the remaining five wins. CV was finally able to come out on top against Township, posting a 39-33 win on the 19th. This time it was a late Buckskin surge that turned the tide. CV managed just one win in the first six bouts, Morley’s second period fall at 120, but ripped off six wins in the final seven matches to steal the victory. Fischer started that roll at 145 while Needham followed at 152 with another fall. Akala’s decision at 160 and Kirchner’s fall at 172 made it four in a row for CV with one final Township win coming at 189. Rider added a fall at 215 while
Karayev finished things off with an easy forfeit at 285, securing the win. RIFLE The rifle team experienced a pair of losses last week with a 498-483 loss to Elizabethtown on January 13th and a closer, 489-486 loss to Garden Spot on the 18th. Against E-town it was Sierra Land, Grady Ray and Ivan Shrom leading the way while Hunter Kleckner and Edison Stauffer were both one shot off the team lead at 96. Shrom (99), Land (97) and Stauffer (95) posted another top five against Garden Spot with Adam Zook (98) and William Roland (97) joining the scorers. BOWLING The bowling team was in action on January 18th, falling to Warwick 7-0. Luke Snader (526), Josiah Casler (523), Jocelyn Ross (491) and Rowan Aisenbrey (459) rolled all three games while Jason DeChristopher (161) and Ethan Tardibuono (404) combined to finish things up.
