VOLLEYBALL CV volleyball picked up their fourth league victory with a 3-0 sweep over Manheim Township, giving up fewer points in each subsequent set (25-18, 25-10, 25-8). Sawyer Shertzer and Dominic Brabant each served a trio of aces. Shertzer slammed 13 kills, supported by Brabant’s 25 assists.

April 21st held a 9-1 loss to Hempfield with CV crossing their lone run in the first inning. Connor Esbenshade made the most of his first at bat, reaching on an error, stealing his way to second, capitalizing on another error to get to third, and ultimately scoring on Gavin Fisher’s groundout. Hempfield responded with a pair of runs during the subsequent at bat and pulled away with a five-run inning in the third. The Bucks collected three hits: a triple from Ethan Weaver, a double from Logan Kline, and a single by Josh Pattison. Fisher was on the mound in the loss and struck out three. Two days earlier, CV kept things close in a 6-2 loss to Manheim Township, and Weaver had another strong effort at the plate, claiming three of the Bucks’ four hits. Despite trailing from the first inning, CV rallied in the sixth. Fisher opened with a walk and was scored by a double from Weaver. Tucker Hastings propelled Weaver home on another double before Township retired the side. TRACK The girls track meet against Penn Manor on April 19th couldn’t have been much closer, tipping 75-74 in favor of the visiting Comets. CV highlights included winning performances from Asha Marwaha in the 800, Grace Lapp in the 300 hurdles and a CV sweep in the high hurdles with Jess Koenig, Lapp, and Teagan Schaub going one, two, three.
