Seven Sorrows to host VBS, open house
Seven
Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary (SSBVM) Catholic Church, 360 E. Water St., Middletown, will present vacation Bible school (VBS), themed “Journey Off the Map,” from Monday, July 24, through Friday, July 28, from 8:45 a.m. to noon. VBS is open to children in prekindergarten through fifth grade.
This year’s VBS will be centered around Isaiah 30:21, which says in part, “This is the way; walk in it.” Participants will sing and dance, make crafts, play games and spend time in prayer.
Youngsters will learn that Jesus is the ultimate guide who helps people navigate the twists and turns and obstacles of life. They will hear examples of heroes in faith.
The daily themes will be “Know Your Guide” on July 24; “Follow Your Guide” on Tuesday, July 25; “Trust Your Guide” on Wednesday, July 26; “Stay on Track” on Thursday, July 26; and “Keep Looking” on July 28.

VBS will include interactive activities (left photo) and arts and crafts (right photo).
Prospective families are welcome to tour the school at that time, regardless of their VBS attendance. VBS attendees will enjoy a scavenger hunt through the school building with their families during the open house.

Middletown Library to offer free programs, lunch
This summer, Middletown Public Library will offer free performances at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 121 N. Spring St., Middletown, as part of its Summer Reading Program, themed “All Together Now.”
Performers will include the following: July 26, Talewise; and Aug. 2, Two of a Kind. Free lunch will be provided by the Middletown Area School District for children up to age 18. Activities will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
All Together Now is about kindness, fairness and unity with summer reading challenges for children, teens and adults. Patrons can track their reading and win prizes. Keefer-Bair
Stephanie Keefer of Hershey and William Bair of Hershey have announced their engagement.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Gene Keefer of Felton and Wanda Sweitzer of Middletown. She graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School.
Mr. Bair is the son of Alan Bair of Mount Joy and Celeste and John Martin of Palmyra. He graduated from Elizabethtown
Area High School and is employed in Hershey.
A July 2024 wedding is planned.
Church plans program about Ukraine
First United Methodist Church, 64 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey, will present a program about the organization Raising Hope Ukraine on Wednesday, July 26, at 2 p.m.
All are invited to hear missionary Archana Tkachuk describe the current conditions in war-torn Ukraine and how she and her family provide humanitarian relief and other help through Raising Hope Ukraine. She will share slides and videos of the organization’s most recent outreach efforts.
There will be a time for questions and answers, fellowship and light refreshments following the

Audubon Society sets field trip
Quittapahilla Audubon Society will present a field trip on Sunday, July 30. Themed “Butterflies, Dragonflies and Their Habitat,” the event will take place at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, 100 Museum Road, Stevens.
