IN TECHNICOLOR Pop singer and actor Jesse McCartney was a child performer dynamo, singing on Broadway and landing an acting gig on All My Children before even joining his first boy band, a feat that came at the age of 12. Teen poppers Dream Street scored a platinum album with their self-titled debut before spinning off the careers of Chris Trousdale and McCartney himself. McCarntey will be making a guest appearance Thursday evening at Rhythm and Brews in Chattanooga. His appearance is brought possible thanks to Hits 96, the city’s leading Top 40 station.

ITALIAN GODFATHERS Lacuna Coil is an Italian gothic metal band from Milan. Inspired by the combination of gothic imagery and music, the members have been known, musically, for composing mid-tempo songs consisting of prominent guitar lines and contrasting dual female/male vocal harmonies to help create a melodic, detached sound. Much of the band's recent material, however, sees a heavier and more down-tuned style, featuring a more distinct bass line and a higher mixing of the guitars within the songs. Lacuna Coil performs Wednesday at Track 29 in Chattanooga along with Devil You Know.

Copy Me Sister, I Am A Youtuber Just as the title sounds eccentric, so will be the matter. I am hundred and ten percent sure that each one of us has ventured into the world of making videos once or multiple times. If not for making videos, but at least for viewing. And if you are a viewer just like me you really know what I am talking about. Although there are a zillion topics on which those videos are made but today I am going to touch upon, on makeup videos. Oh! Girls, yeah all girly and nice loads of sugar but with tons of spice. White chick or black beauty, caramel attitude or bronze queen you can find unlimited videos on the same topic, same products, same gestures, same funk and absolutely twin purpose but millions of different girls all claiming to talk about on totally unique topics. Well, whatever they say but me as an audience know that when one youtuber would film a video of how to wing your eyeliner all
other ants in the YouTube kingdom would trail the same yet declaring how different they are from the other ones. Crazy, aren't they? Or crazy, are we? Is it they filming the very same thing a billion times could be called bizarre or are we odd too that we watch the very same thing over and over again?
techniques to show patriotism in different colors and styles. They dress and dab on makeup to show how happy they are and this is a routine for them on every 4th of July. There isn't anything surprising on that count. However I saw a video by an Indian youtuber applying Indian flag colors on her eyes and doing makeup in that regard, but before starting the video she gave a 5 minute long speech that it has nothing to do with 4th of July and I am not copying them, this is my original idea etc. Sweet sister and my lovely readers I really wish to know that from when Indians celebrated Independence Day by doing makeup and dressing up especially for this day. As far as I can travel the memory lane, I recoup from the past that all we did was took part in the march past and ate sweets.
This tendency of copying and still shying away from the title of being a copycat is prevalent outside India but a shocking revelation would be that we Indians not only replicate the same thing but loudly and boldly proclaim that it has nothing to do with the foreigners but it is exclusively our idea. A very interesting example pertaining to what I am trying to explain would be this one. 4th of July is the independence day of United States of America and hence celebrated by each and every individ- When we grew up we loved ual there. brought us a holiday. But specifically donning makeup for 15th august, nope! I don't think so. If ever or anywhere I have seen patriotism and Indian flag painted on our cheeks and forehead is the match stadium where we cheer for the Indian team and cheer loud for the four's and six's they strike. Not elsewhere. This was a very mild example of what I am actually trying to emphasize on. YouTube is filled with several examples of girls bootlegging each other completely in their full glory yet brushing off the total blame on others and claim on them. How convenient. Sweethearts and sugars accepting that you got inspired and motivated by someone else which pushed you making one video on the same thing with your personal touch would only make you a better person and not smaller.

McHale's Brewhouse Strikes Gold at the Great American Beer Festival McHale’s Brewhouse claimed a gold medal at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition. Presented by the Brewers Association, GABF is the largest national beer competition that recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States. The top three winners in the competition’s 90 beer-style categories were announced October 4 at the Great American Beer Festival awards ceremony held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. “Our beer is brewed with love, for the love of beer.” said Adam Hale, BrewMaster at McHale’s Brewhouse. McHale’s Brewhouse was recognized in the Scottish-Style Ale beer-style category for its Scottish Pride, this traditional
The 2014 GABF competition winners were selected by an international panel of 222 expert judges from the record number of 5,507 entries, plus 89 Pro-Am entries, received from 1,309 U.S. breweries.
Scottish “80 schilling” ale is complex but simple. The malts produced in Scotland have a character all their own, and this beer is a tribute to that malt, “Golden Promise”. The traditional yeast from a Scottish brewery is used, which helps preserve the complexity of the malt flavor and gives the beer its pleasing, dry finish.
McHale’s Brewhouse is a 2-barrel brewpub located in Chattanooga, TN that specializes in bringing the highest quality beer to the Chattanooga beer market.
“Once again the Great American Beer Festival brings the best of the best together in one place,” said Chris Swersey, competition manager. “At a time when American brewers offer so much variety, it’s a true honor to be recognized as one of the finest. Our greatest gratitude to the winners and all entrants whose innovative and outstanding beers help make this such an esteemed competition.”

IS CHECK FRAUD DAMAGING YOUR BOTTOM LINE? In today's world, businesses face a number of challenges, but few are as daunting as combatting fraudulent checks. Technology has made it easier than ever before for criminals to produce or alter a check so that only an expert eye can detect it. This crime is no longer the exclusive domain of large check fraud rings. The home PC and desktop publishing has brought this technology within reach of the smallest petty criminal. Others choose to modify checks by using chemicals to remove all, or a portion, of the information and change it to benefit the criminal. Often, these crimes begin with the theft of a blank, canceled or valid check. Occasionally, this is accomplished with the cooperation of an employee, but it can also be accomplished by someone rummaging through company garbage, stealing company mail, or by
the theft of blank checks or financial documents stored in an unsecured area. Recent changes in the Uniform Commercial Code has made it clear that business share responsibility for preventing check fraud. For example, if the bank offers check stock with security features, the bank can claim negligence on the part of the company and is only partially liable for loss due to fraud. There are many ways that a business can prevent check fraud. One of the most popular methods is the use of MICR-check printing software that prints checks from secure, blank stock. This eliminates the possibility of someone stealing blank checks. Most check printing software incorporates a number of security features such as restricting user access to certain functions unless authorized, dollar amount limits for specific or authorized uses,

and requiring that an authorized employee log in and verify all checks before they are printed. MICR-check printing software and accounts payable automation has become one of the most popular methods of preventing fraud through internal security. Another more common way to avoid dealing with check fraud is to carefully examine all checks that pass through a business or individuals hands. Bad checks may not be obvious but there are ways to tell them apart from a valid check. Bad or fraudulent checks usually lack perforations and in their check numbers may not change at all. The printed font is arguably different and often does not look professional. They are questionable when the name and the address are printed in different fonts whereas with a legitimate check, they are usually print-

ed with the same font. If the MICR coding at the bottom is shiny then it is likely a fake check. MICR printing is not glossy at all, it's rather dull in appearance. Businesses can also limit the damage caused by fraudulent checks by placing maximum dollar limits on checking accounts and by establishing a separate account for large payments. Companies that request detailed reports from their bank for all large payments increase their likelihood of detecting a dishonest employee. It may not be possible to prevent all check fraud, but through the use of MIRCcheck printing software, internal security and limiting the potential cost of fraud, an organization's bottom line need not be affected by fraudulent checks.

A Memorable Saturday The video “went viral” sometime Sunday. It’s a really short clip. Sixteen seconds. After watching his Crimson Tide lose, 23-17, at Ole Miss, a bearded Alabama fan was being heckled by a horde of delighted home fans. He reached behind him and picked up a fairly large beverage cup. It’s easy to imagine that there might have been some smuggled brown liquor in that cup. That might explain why the Bama booster decided to toss the unempty cup onto the heckling Rebel fans below him. It was not a good decision. A uniformed VaughtHemingway Stadium security guard zoomed into action,
applied a choke hold, and slammed the Crimson Cup Tosser into the bleacher steps. The Ole Miss fans, some of whom might have been drenched by the cup’s contents, erupted in applause…
earlier, Ole Miss had taken the lead on Bo Wallace’s 10-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Walton. All the Rebs needed for a relatively safe seven-point advantage was a point-after kick. But Gary Wunderlich’s attempt glanced off the goal post. Thankfully for Ole Miss, a roughing the kicker penalty gave them another shot at the PAT. Andrew Fletcher took the second attempt, which was blocked by Bama’s Tony Brown. The sixpoint margin felt anything but safe for the Rebs… until Golson’s big pick…
…That clip was a metaphor for what happened to Alabama in Oxford last Saturday. The Crimson Tide looked like they didn’t see Ole Miss coming. The Rebels’ fourth-quarter rally proved that this season’s Bama team is beatable. It proved that Ole Miss is for real this year. It took Senquez Golson’s interception of a Blake Sims pass to seal the win for the Rebels. Minutes …The waning minutes of the game saw Ole Miss use up the remaining clock as Rebel fans seemed poised on the brink of insanity. I had no doubt that the field would be stormed after the game. And so it was. But I saw something in the inevitable swarm that I’ve never seen before. Ole Miss’s on-field security crew actually helped the fans over the barricades so they could get onto the field. The goalposts came down in the post-game melee… but of course they did. It’s easy to get (justifiably) jaded about modern college football. The pandemonium in Oxford was a reminder of the genuine emotion that bursts free when a rising program topples a traditional powerhouse... …Ole Miss made history against ENIGMA

Alabama. Tennessee added to its misery against Florida. The Gators picked up their tenth straight win against the Volunteers, 10-9, in Knoxville on an afternoon when the Big Orange just couldn’t get into the end zone. Settling for three field goals wasn’t enough against a depleted Florida team that scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter… …Sadly for the Vols, video replays showed that Gator kicker Austin Hardin’s 49-yard gamewinning field goal was attempted after the play clock had expired. Could Hardin have made one from five yards further out? We’ll never know. Tennessee’s inability to get the ball into their checkerboard end zones was the real reason for the loss, though. The Vols were favored by many (including me) to get the Gatormonkey off of their backs last Saturday. Butch Jones’ Tennessee team is probably a year away from being really good. Frustratingly close losses will continue to make this season another one to endure, rather than savor, for Big Orange fans. I can’t help but wonder if a win over Florida would have prompted the Neyland Stadium faithful to storm the field… if it had happened. Again… we’ll never know…

Dear Rocco, I was dating and living with this girl for over a year when she decided to move out. Despite moving out she still called and texted me all the time, but would only meet for coffee and rarely before dark. And while she tells me I need to spread my wings and meet other people, when I do she gets visibly upset. It’s like she’s passing judgment on everyone I see. When I ask her to have dinner with me, she puts me off. What gives? DC Dear Rocco, I’m sick of this Michael Vick lovefest I’ve been seeing on TV and reading about in all the newspapers and magazines the last month. Hs everyone already forgotten what he did to all those dogs? Sure, he went to jail for 18 months, but people seem more concerned about how he play football than his reckless disregard for a life, no matter how minor. Are football fans just that stupid or what? I can’t understand it.

HONDA, Colombia (UPI) Workers at a Colombia clinic said a woman inserted a potato into her vagina as a means of contraception and the spud grew roots inside of her. Staff at a medical clinic in the town of Honda said a 22-year-old woman came in this week complaining of severe pain in her lower abdomen and attending nurse Carolina Rojas said she was
shocked to discover roots coming out of the woman’s vagina. “My mom told me that if I didn’t want to get pregnant, I should put a potato up there, and I believed her.” the patient was quoted as saying. Rojas said the potato had been inside the woman for about two weeks and was growing roots inside her. ENGLAND - A Halloween horror came early for some amusement park goers in England when a roller coaster hit a deer and covered the passengers in blood. A spokeswoman for the Lightwater Valley theme park near Ripon, England, confirmed the deer wandered onto the track of The Ultimate, billed as Europe’s longest roller coaster, and was struck by the car. “We can confirm a young deer did unfortunately get hit by the Ultimate train yesterday and was killed instantly,” the spokeswoman said. “There is a large perimeter fence surrounding the theme park but occasionally wild animals do manage to stray onto the park during the night.” The roller coaster was closed for 30 minutes before resuming normal operations. Reports indicate passengers were sprayed with the animal’s blood, but there were no human injuries from the crash. ENGLAND - While there are many grand and wonderful things about the New World; breath-taking vistas and bountiful resources, the one thing you will not find here are caches of ancient Roman coins buried in the ground. Not like in Great Britain. An amateur treasure hunter found the biggest ever haul of 4th century Roman coins in East Devon, England. Over 20,000. Laurence Egerton, a semiretired builder, took up metal detecting seven years ago. But last November he turned up two unusual coins the size of a thumbnail close to the previously excavated site of a Roman villa. His continued to dig after his metal detector indicated there was more iron in the ground. That’s when Mr. Egerton found his treasure. “The next shovel was full of coins - they just spilt out over the field,” he said. “Between finding the hoard and the archaeologists excavating the site, I slept in my car alongside it for three nights to guard it,” Egerton told English newspaper, The Telegraph. Although the coins represented only a few months’ wages for a Roman soldier in 260 A.D., historians say they are now worth tens of thousands of dollars. Not a bad payday for an afternoon walk out in the country.

Cowboys Turn Back Texans in Overtime
CCOne incredibly impressive streak ended for Dallas, yet another more historic milestone remained in sight as the Cowboys overcame their own mistakes to take down the Houston Texans in overtime, 20-17, to remain atop the Eastern Division.
This game could have been billed as an in-state battle between the $100-million dollar men – quarterback Tony Romo and Texas defensive end J.J. Watt. What it really came down to, in the end, was the battle for the ball between star wide receiver Dez Bryant and Houston safety Jonathan Joseph. Bryant won the war with his juggling 37- yard reception over Joseph. It set the stage for kicker Dan Bailey’s winning field goal, and Dallas’ first 4-1 record to start the season in six years.
This overtime situation never should have occurred. The Cowboy defense held Texan quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in check practically the entire game. If it hadn’t been for the extraordinary efforts of running back Arian Foster, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns, this game is over before it begins. The loss of Dallas linebacker Rolando McClain towards the end of the game also turned the tide in Houston’s favor. Until that point, the linebacker had been a disruptive force in the middle that had limited Houston to seven points, Foster to a little over 120 yards rushing and Fitzpatrick to a paltry 14-22 for 110 yards. But “it happens”, and with 4:36 in regulation, McClain went out with a reaggravated groin injury opening the door for Houston to take advantage of the situation. And ENIGMA
room after intermission and immediately reasserted themselves – or to be more specific, Arian Foster reasserted himself. The running back literally ran the ball down the Cowboys throat highlighted by his jaw-dropping 33-yard run up the middle. He finished his “run” at the Cowboys with a clean 15-yard explosion into the end zone and a 7-3 lead. The Cowboys quickly responded to the challenge by marching the ball down the field in just under three minutes. Tony Romo connected with Jason Witten on 34-yard pass that put him over the 10,000-yard receiving mark for tight ends. He joins an elite group – including Tony Gonzalez and Sterling Sharpe – as the only tight ends in NFL history to surpass the amazing benchmark. On the next play, Romo pulled a slick move on Houston came out of the locker a hard charging J.J. Watt to escape that’s exactly what they did. \ Mistakes plagued the Cowboys the entire game. DeMarco Murray picked up where he left off in game three of the season by fumbling the ball in the first quarter on what looked like a sure scoring drive for Dallas. Tony Romo decided to take the heat off of his running back by misreading end zone coverage that allowed Houston safety Kendrick Lewis to easily pick off Romo’s pass for his fifth interception of the year. To complete the Cowboy trifecta mental miscues, wide receiver Terrance Williams got into the act when he dropped a pass on the one-yard line that would have given Dallas a first-and-goal. In the second half, all three players would redeem themselves.

Texans went on a 7:17 minute drive that ended with a 29-yard field goal. It still appeared that the Cowboys had everything well under control when they got the ball back. Murray had already notched his fifth consecutive 100yard game (31 carries 136 yards). The accomplishment enabled the former Oklahoma Sooner running back to join a unique company of running backs – Hall of Famer’s O.J. Simpson and Jim Brown – as the only players to ever rush for 100 yards in five consecutive games to start the season. Brown holds the mark of six straight 100 yard games to start the season. Murray can equal that mark when the Cowboys visit defending Super Bowl champs Seattle. That future milestone, however, was the furthest thing from anyone’s mind as Dallas almost did themselves in with their final few minute flubs.
his grasp. The quarterback’s nifty feet bought him enough time to spot wide receiver Terrance Williams streaking towards the end zone. Romo completed a leaping 43-yard touchdown to the receiver as the Cowboy regained the lead, 10-7. The Cowboys momentum continued into the fourth quarter when the defense shut Houston down. Dwayne Harris returned the ensu-
The Cowboys couldn’t move the ball and it gave Houston the opening it needed just before the two minute warning. Dallas had punted the ball and McClain was out of the game. Fitzpatrick found his groove and easily moved the Texans down the field. Foster tied the game scoring his second touchdown from a yard out. There was still plenty of time on the clock for Dallas to mount a drive to get within Dan Bailey’s range. It pretty much became a moot point when Harris ran the ball out of the end zone instead of downing it on a touchback. Not only did his lapse of judgment run six precious seconds off the clock, he was tackled at the Dallas 15-yard line costing them five additional yards to make up. Romo managed to move the ball into Houston territory to give Bailey a chance from 55 yards out. He missed wide right sending the game into overtime, and ending his ing punt 39-yards to the Houston prolific streak of 30 consecutive 30. coach Jason Garrett elected to send Harris out to end the game. And that’s exactly what he did for 49 yards out. C owboy Notes – Once again, owner C Jerry Jones was greeted by a sea of visiting red as more than 30,000 Houston Texan fans made their way into AT&T Stadium to support their team. Their presence was felt on the field. Tony Romo admitted after the game he had to go to a silent count because the Houston fans were making so much noise. The next “red wave” scheduled for an appearance on the Cowboys home turf are the Western Division leading Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 2. The transformation of the Dallas Cowboys continues as the team ranks fourth in the league in points scored (135) and fourth in points allowed (103). It’s early in the season, yes, but the direction offensive coordinator Scott Linehan and defensive head coach Rob Marinelli are taking their units are erasing the nightmares that occurred on both sides of the ball last year. A seemingly innocuous three-second move on national television by Tony Romo transformed the image of Dallas quarterback from total dork the past few seasons to a respected and undisputed leader of the team. Running back DeMarco Murray was just about to give an interview immediately after the team’s come-from-behind victory against St. Louis. His baseball cap was on backwards. Out of nowhere, Romo appeared, turned Murray’s cap around with the bill facing forward, and disappeared to do his own interview. The move caught the Fox info babe off guard and every knowledgeable Cowboy fan as well. Romo had become infamous over the past several years for wearing his baseball cap backwards when he granting interviews. The irreverent image the QB had constantly portrayed over the past several seasons was symbolic of the team he was leading. Not anymore. Romo means business and is now leading by example.

Falcons Not the Giant Killers We Thought
I hate Eli Manning. Actually the whole Manning clan from dad Archie on down. What I really don’t like about Manning was the 2004 draft when dad dictated where his son would and would not play. For all intents and purposes Manning refused to play for the San Diego Chargers who held the first overall pick. Bowing to Manning pressure the Chargers made a deal with the New York Giants to draft Phillip Rivers and then the two teams basically traded quarterbacks. I hate when people screw with tradition. He should be thankful he plays football for a living.

Peyton can do no wrong in their eyes. It gets to grinding on me after a while. And dad Archie… let’s not go there right now.
I took great pride two years ago watching in person “my” Atlanta Falcons throttle the Giants at the Georgia Dome 34-0. real opportunity to blow the game open early. “We had opportunities in the first half, off the turnover we get a short field, get the ball down to the, I guess, one or two-yard line and weren’t able to punch it in, so that one, that hurts. And then we had another chance right before the half, we got the ball down low again and came away with two field goals and when you’re playing against a good team, on the road, you’ve got convert those opportunities. So to me, it came down to we weren’t as efficient as we needed to be in the red zone and obviously we were not as good as we wanted to be on third down,” said Ryan.
Smith has been under-utilized by the Falcons. He’s got great breakout speed and can catch a pass. He also has youth on his side. Steven Jackson, who has been better this season still is a shell of his former self. I realize the Falcons were hoping for one good year as they thought they were oh so close to the Super Bowl after falling ten yards short the year before, but as a running back closes in on 30 his time and ability becomes limited. Jackson has been injury prone since entering the state of Georgia as well. The Falcons messed up when they passed on Eddie Lacy in last year’s draft if they were looking for a “franchise” back. Smith is exciting. He’s like the little engine that could and when given the chance he does. “We need to have more plays designed for Antone. When he touches the ball, he makes plays. He did another fine job. We caught them in cover zero and it was a great throw by (Quarterback) Matt (Ryan), getting the ball out of his hands. And in zero, there is no defensive depth and he just outran everybody. I know everybody likes Antone. We like Antone a whole lot as well. We have to make sure that we get our playmakers the ball, “ said Smith.

“We had opportunities, for sure, to win that game. And it’s not necessarily all in the third and fourth quarter. As I mentioned before, I think there was two opportunities where we had the ball in the tight red zone with an opportunity to punch the ball in the end zone. Meltdown in Music City
History was made in Nashville Sunday. Not the kind of history the Tennessee Titans like to make, but history nonetheless. The Titans blew a 28-3 lead in front of their fans to lose in the final minute to the Cleveland Browns 29-28. The Cleveland Browns recorded the largest comeback by a visiting team in NFL history.
Buffalo Bills in the 1993 playoffs is referred to as “The Comeback”. The Bills recovered from a 35-3 second half lead to comeback and win in overtime 41-38 in a game many consider the greatest meltdown in NFL history. I wonder if the spirit of Frank Reich was coursing through the veins of Brian Hoyer as he led the Browns comeback win and created a new entry in the record books along Of course this franchise is snake the way? bit by comeback records. His backup Charlie Whitehurst increased the lead to 28-3 before the walls came tumbling down.
being 1-4 the Titans might ought to consider introducing the Zach Mettenberger era in Nashville. Locker has been kind of disappointing since being drafted in 2011. He’s missed great parts of every season and has already missed a game and a half through the first five. Mettenberger looked impressive in preseason and with a new coach (Ken Whisenhunt) and front office Locker is basically a leftover from a failed administration.

third. The Browns kicked a field goal to make the score 28-13. And then into the fourth quarter the roof fell in for Tennessee. “They changed up some things, but I don’t think it was necessarily what they did. I think we just didn’t do a good job of closing out the game today. They did a good job of fighting, coming back and believing that they could win. We just have to do a better job of closing the game out. It’s very tough. We’ve worked hard as all outdoors to get a win. The first half went really well. I think we did a lot of good things, but that second half, we just have to play, put some plays together. … I wouldn’t say we got comfortable. I think they just did a better job of changing some things up,” said Titan wide receiver Nate Washington. With 11:02 left in the game the Browns blocked Brett Kern’s punt for a safety. “You know, we can’t have a blocked punt. Special teams have not performed for us. That’s an area that has to get better,” said Whisenhunt. behind an offensive line that can hold its blocks and keep a pocket. Locker has been forced to run for his life and he’s done well at times doing so but he is constantly getting hurt. It’s almost like a punchline. I don’t see Locker in a Titans uniform after this season. And that could be the bet thing for his career. Locker would be best suited leaving and signing with someone like Denver who has a strong offensive line a Peyton Manning is in the twilight of his career despite how well is plays (he’s 38). “I’m not talking about next year. I’m worried about trying to address what our issues are right now. I don’t know where we’re
going to be when we come back, from an injury standpoint. We’ll continue to work the way we’ve worked. We’ll clean those things up. If we can play other guys, we will, if they’re guilty of doing something that has hurt our football team,” said Whisenhunt.
touchdown pass of the quarter and the last time the Titans would score. “We felt good about it. We’ve seen that they’ve come back in the past so it was something we discussed before we went out in the second half. They were still able to come back and overcome that. Being down in the first half, they were able to win the game,” said Titan linebacker Kamerion Wimbley on having the big lead.

Five minutes later Hoyer hit Travis Benjamin from 17 yards out across the middle to make the score 28-22. And with 1:09 left to play the two hooked up again from six yards out to write another chapter in NFL history. “I’m just speechless about the whole thing. We had the game. We should have finished and won. I’m at a loss of words. It’s definitely devastating. We had a lead like that and end up losing it like that,” said Hunter. The Titans remain home this week as they host the 0-5 Jacksonville Jaguars. Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm and will be aired on Fox.
