Dear Rocco, I am a 41-year-old - recovering addict with eight years of sobriety. I have not been in a loving relationship for over 10 years - not even “casual sex.” Work, being part of my children’s lives, and other reasons has always come first. Truthfully, I am scared to death of actually finding a mate. Everyday I rush home after work, hide away until the next morning, and repeat. Initially in my sobriety, the solitude was fine. Now I am so lonely and wish to be involved with a life-mate. I am even avoiding my women friends because I am tired of making up relationships - how sad – so I would fit in. The Four F’s: Gifts I Am Thankful For Well it’s that time of year again. Thanksgiving has just come and went again for another year and Christmas is coming at us like a freight train. I think many people have forgotten what Thanksgiving is all about and how it got started. They just think it’s a day to be off (maybe) or to be out of school. It was first celebrated by the Pilgrims to celebrate the bringing in of the first crop in the New World (America). President Lincoln made it a federal holiday. That`s all the history I`ll get into on that. I wanted to discuss things I am thankful for in the spirit of Thanksgiving. ‘Gifts” if you will, in the spirit of Christmas.

Another freedom is our ability to be armed to protect ourself, our families and our loved ones. In 1803 St. George Tucker commented in Blackstone`s Commentaries on the Laws of England “This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty... The right of self defense is the first law of nature:” We have a basic right to protect ourselves and the best way to do that is with a firearm. Thankfully here in America in most places you can still own a firearm to do that. So that is a huge gift given to us by our founding fathers and our luck to be born here in the United States.
team I got to shoot sniper rifles and machine guns regularly. I counted myself very lucky indeed as I was getting paid to shoot and the ammo was provided! So in this Thanksgiving and Christmas season I am very thankful for family, friends and freedoms which include firearms. To me these are the four F’s. I think all Americans should be thankful for their freedoms if nothing else. We take our freedoms and liberties for granted far too often. You will always see me standing during the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance and bowing my head during prayer. I am thankful I can do these things in freedom. I am grateful for these gifts.

Spartanburg, SC during a strange home burglary that saw the thieves take the ashes but leave behind the urn. The ashes were just one of several odd things taken by the burglars, who also slipped away with a selection of makeup, two frozen pizzas, a package of hot dogs, some cheese and a bottle of Jack Daniels. Sounds like a hell of a party. And the thieves did this without any signs of forced entry. The victim told investigators the deadbolt on the door was new, having been replaced just weeks ago after a break. Hmmm, I think I
might have a suspect for them. A cyclist is attempting to break a Guinness World Record by riding from California to Florida while popping a wheelie. Kurt Osburn, 49, of Las Vegas, started his backwheel ride at the Santa Monica Pier Oct. 12 and arrived Monday in Tucson, Ariz., about 500 miles into his trip. Osburn is attempting to ride to Cocoa Beach, Fla., while wheelieing — a total distance of 2,900 miles — to break his own Guinness World Record and raise money for children’s disability charities. Osburn previously entered the Guinness Book of World Records in 1998, when he wheelied for 11 hours inside California’s Anaheim Convention Center, and in 1999, when he rode from Hollywood, Calif., to Orlando, Fla., in 75 days on only one wheel. Osburn said he wants to break his record by finishing his current ride in only 45 days. This is the American ingenuity that split the atom and put a man on the moon. US developers have created the world’s first oral sex robot, and
they named it Autoblow A.I. Inventor Brian Sloan said, “We used artificial intelligence to replicate techniques that make using our machine feel less robotic and more human.” They did that by studying hundreds of hours of porn. And you thought the perfect job didn’t exist. The Autoblow AI combines a microcontroller with an infrared beam sensor and magnetic field sensors to manipulate a fleshy sleeve across 250 different points along a “5-inch-long stroking plane”. It has ten speeds available, including “the full stroke”, “fast edge”, and “top & bottom stroke” and gives a “quieter experience that won’t alert people to your activities”. A Pittsburgh woman is facing several charges after allegedly throwing several cans of SpaghettiOs at another woman’s vehicle. The incident happened last month as the victim was expecting to meet with a man who was supposed to provide money for their children. The victim said when she approached the Allegheny Union Plaza building, a woman approached her and

began throwing cans of SpaghettiOs at her vehicle. The victim said as she tried to get out of her car the suspect tried stabbing her with a kitchen knife. Police said the victim’s vehicle had a broken back window, multiple dents and was smeared with red sauce and pieces of pasta. But police said they reviewed surveillance video which appeared to show several other people involved in the incident, including a man who was apparently also throwing cans of SpaghettiOs. Police said they’re working to identify any additional suspects. When 43-year-old Kimberly Santleben-Stiteler got a divorce after 14 years of marriage she decided to have a divorce party at her father’s farm, about 25 miles west of San Antonio. This is not a completely unusual thing to do. People who were in particularly stressful marriages sometimes like to celebrate their newfound freedom. At this party Kimberly wanted to destroy some things that reminded her of her old life; primarily her wedding dress. But

Kimberly was not content with simply throwing it on a bonfire. With the help of a demolitions expert she rigged her dress with 20 pounds of Tannerite, which is the explosive component of those explosive targets used for longer range firearms training. She honed her shooting skills with some practice before the party - because with that much Tannerite, the family wasn’t sure that shooting the dress from 100 yards away would be safe enough. But Kimberly hit the bullseye on her first shot. The resulting fireball was the size of a garage. “We were all getting messages asking if that was our explosion people were feeling and hearing around the county, up to at least 15 miles away,” Kimberly’s sister Carla said. “It was like, ‘Uh, is everything okay over there’?” The explosion she says was felt through parts of Medina County. She had about 40 guests, who all cheered when the dress was no more. “On the one hand, it was like being on set of some action movie. The explosion was huge,” Kimberly said. “It was liberating pulling that trigger. It was closure for all of us.”

It Pays to Know Nolan Carroll Nolan Carroll is like a lot of football players his age. He’s already looking past the gridiron and quite frankly the game is not the only thing on his plate. The former fifth round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2010 out of Maryland has spend time with the Eagles and Cowboys as well. Currently a free agent, the 6’ 11” 202 pound cornerback comes across as not worried about his football career. Like many players his age football is not his only priority. His most recent project is a phone app called Yoo Troo (available in both the Apple and Android app store). Yoo Troo is a free app that actually puts money in your pocket with no strings attached. All you have to do is watch commercials through the app. It’s that simple. There will also be plenty of coupons to redeem as well and lots of other perks. Nolan took time out of his schedule to talk about life outside of football as well as his picks for the Super Bowl.

I think from the different coaches I’ve had all of them have been the same as far as discipline. I think that’s the biggest thing I’ve learned is respecting your elders; basically they help you in life. I think from football what carried over as well is being punctual and respectful – working together as a team I learned from high school and it continues to carry on into the NFL. Nothing’s really different except the game gets faster but the discipline aspect. I had my parents, too. Both of them were in the military, so that helped me out a lot. A lot of guys don’t come from a discipline household, so they have to learn it – some the hard way on the football field or in meeting rooms when the guys don’t care about being on time.

Former Dolphin, Eagle and Cowboy Nolan Carroll recently launched his new app that pays you to watch commercials on your mobile device.
I’ve listened to coaches and those things can hurt you when you’re in the league and a young guy coming in trying to fight for the team and don’t have that kind of discipline to do what you’re asked and to do your job. It’ll come back and bite you in the butt.

tthhiinngg ..
Definitely it’s a good thing. When you’re done with football people kind of forget about you. They don’t see without you helmet and what team you played for. Without football people aren’t going to see you the same way. The whole thing of social media has made guys see outside of football field, which I think is a great thing. Then it comes down to guys are tired of getting hurt and not getting paid enough for really getting hurt. You have a 100 percent injury rate and in the last five year it’s been big name guys. Last year J.J. Watt went down, Odell Beckham Jr. went down. There were just a number of big name
guys that went down – Aaron Rodgers. That just shows you that anybody is susceptible to getting injured and guys realize this and they have a window where they have to make everything count. They have a window where they can use their name to set themselves up outside of football. Back in the day everything was all about football and even when you were away from football it was to train to get ready for the game. I think guys are starting to realize that the game is brutal. One guy comes in and there are five others trying to take your place in that position. It’s a revolving door as far as players coming in and out. Guys see that and knowing hat the money we’re getting is not like NBA money that’s guaranteed. You se guys with contracts of one or two years and you break it down after taxes, agencies and everything else, it’s really not that much as it’s portrayed to be. You realize that off the field there’s a lot more opportunities to be had and you can find someone and be a brand ambassador for them or be the face of something. Guys are now starting to capitalize on that. And that’s why you see guy are not hesitating anymore to walk away from the game. Anything they can bring in will last and use the platform as best as they can for something off the field.

I’ve always been like that. My brother and me tried to create game apps. This was back 2011-12 when everyone was trying to get into gaming apps. We couldn’t figure anything out, but as the years went by being in the locker room and just being out and about just noticing what people use in their daily lives, you just kind of think about it – everybody loves convenience in this world. They want that extra convenience. They want things to just be at

You figure a lot of people are on Instagram. The average person spends four or five hours a day on Instagram. So why not just take 10 or 15 minutes out of your day to watch 10 or 15 ads and get some money coming in your pocket? It’s convenient. It’s a new way of helping the consumer at the same time showing their products – even smaller businesses that don’t necessarily get exposure. Added exposure because you paid to look at these and you may run Carroll was drafted out of Maryling in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL draft by across something. Yoo Troo give you an opportunity and your business an opportunity to see what type of traffic and who’s looking at their ads, getting them exposure. And on top of that, the consumer is getting paid to watch these ads. It’s a win-win in a sense that everybody gets something out of it. So I think this is something that’s definitely different. It’s convenient; it helps everybody. If you’re a college kid and you don’t have a job it helps put money in your pocket. You can make close to $3,000 a month watching ads. There are enough advertisements and interests there. It’s like Groupon except you get paid for it. There is ENIGMA

Lindsey Buckingham Brings the Big Love With Him “2018 had been a year of surprises”, Lindsey Buckingham said as he nervously laughed after while addressing a full house at the Walker Theatre. Everyone in attendance knew one of the surprises he was referring to was his parting company with Fleetwood Mac.
Nicks was hot at one point but the more and more I listened to Fleetwood Mac I realized he wrote most of my favorite songs of the band – and there are a lot to choose from. Fleetwood Mac is and always was a hot mess. lyrics and had that, “Oh now I know what they’re singing about moment.” Buckingham added a feather to his cap with me by providing the theme to “National Lampoon’s Vacation”. I know no one who not only can make multiple quotes from the movie, but sing along as well. The song to me showed a lighter side to Buckingham because of all the serious work with the Mac. Over the years members came and went from the band and eventually returned including Buckingham. n’t for those two I might have never heard of Fleetwood Mac. They are as much of the band as their two founders from whom the band gets their name. Needless to say I wasn’t happy about the news he alluded to earlier. I don’t know the reason why; I just hope they didn’t take his contributions for granted the way I did until a few years ago. Yeah, I love the Mac and I even like Buckingham’s solo work. To me he was always a great singer and songwriter. Sow. Of course I got giddy when he performed “Holiday Road” like a drunken frat guy. Hey, it’s okay to go down memory lane sometimes. And that was what the night was about anyway. The band then performed “Tusk”. Despite being a longtime fan of the band (although I never read that much about them on my own), I didn’t realize it was one of his compositions. The original had heavy percussion and I kind of credited it to Mick Fleetwood. It didn’t really matter to me. At the time I was hungry for new Fleetwood Mac material. It didn’t matter

god. I got to see he do an acoustic solo show a few years ago and couldn’t help but focus on his hands as he played guitar. There are a lot of great guitarists in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and there are plenty of others that constantly have praised heaped upon them. Buckingham, in my humble opinion rates up there with the best ever. I never knew. I do know and have a greater appreciation now for his contributions to Fleetwood Mac but popular music in general. This evening was no different. Buckingham was electric and came with a full band to perform. Buckingham was surprisingly talkative and entertaining. A lot of times someone fronting a band’s banter is just about the next song or the inspiration behind it and often trite. The singer looked to enjoy himself conversing with the crowd, as it seemed genuine and not forced.
After opening with “Don’t Look Down” and “Go Insane”, Buckingham after talking about it being a year of surprises let everyone know this was going to be basically a “best of” show or anthology. Sure enough one song after another that was highly recognizable came from the stage. Often again I found myself watching his hands as he put on a guitar clinic especially on songs like “Trouble”. About halfway through the set he started to introduce his Fleetwood Mac songs. I wasn’t sure if he would do any with him leaving the band, but these were his songs and they are signature songs whether played by the band or solo. He did two songs back-to-back, first “Never Going Back Again” off of Rumour’s followed by “Big Love” off of Tango in the Night. Then it was back to solo material like “In Our Own Time” off of 2011’s Seeds We ENIGMA

who wrote it. His band did a fine job with the song, but the percussion wasn’t as heavy as in the original, which in my humble opinion made the song. That was followed by “I’m So Afraid” from his first album with Fleetwood Mac (self-titled album) and then the song I consider their signature song (and a personal favorite), “Go Your Own Way” where his guitar work was showcased once again. After a small break he came out for a twosong encore of “Turn It On” and “Treason”. It was interesting to watch the

crowd this evening. When I saw him a few years ago the crowd was seated the whole time – kind of a sedate crowd. I guess it was appropriate. Of all the hundreds of rock shows I’ve been to that was the only one I’ve ever witnessed that. Not on this particular evening people were standing and one woman as pumping her arms in pure ecstasy. I get it. I was with you sister. Leaving the show I heard an older couple in front of me complaining about her flailing around. I just have a little advice for that couple – it’s okay to get old; just don’t act old. In Buckingham’s own words, just “go your own way”.

Psychedelic Furs - Love Their Way I can still remember the cold winter evening that I went to the Record Bar searching through all the titles and found a gem titled Talk Talk Talk. It was by a band called the Psychedelic Furs. I remember struggling to get open that impossibly tight shrink-wrap as I shivered in the winter cold in my old car. As soon as I slid the cassette into my stereo the ferocity “Pretty In Pink” blared through the speakers and I was sold. It was post-punk at its best (at least to my limited knowledge at best at the time) and Richard Butler’s gravel-voiced singing epitomized what a punk rock vocalist should sound like. In my humble opinion at the time he sounded exactly like his likeness on the tape cover. Before long I even heard it on the radio (ironically KZ-106). As was the case with cassettes – especially ones I owned got worn out. That was followed by, Forever Now and my personal favorite song of theirs, “Love My Way”. I remember watching it on MTV constantly and when the album came out (the single was released before the album) I ran to my

During the ‘90s they had a decent response from college radio before the Psychedelic Furs decided to reform in 2000 and have been going strong since. The Beach Boys Bring A Reason For the Season The Beach Boys are one of those bands I’ve always taken for granted. They’ve been around my whole life and I’ve heard all their songs a million times. I remember as a kid attending my friend Eric’s birthday party and singing, “Help Me Rhonda”. Eric had an older sister named Rhonda and I though she was cute, especially when she was wearing her private school uniform. And unlike other bands from the ‘60s they never went away or knew when to go away. I know that sounds rude but sometimes you have to miss something to really appreciate it. ©Dave Weinthal

I was still apprehensive about going to the show. It was entitled, “Reason For the Season”, a Christmas themed show. That was fine. I’ve heard a few Beach Boys’ Christmas songs in the past and like them all. I was just worried first of all about the people coming to the show. I equate the fans of The Beach Boys the way I do fans of Jimmy Buffet. Maybe it has been all the “beach” parties I’ve been to over the years.
