THE HUNTING PARTY
"The biggest misconception about us is that we're just a rock band," describes Linkin Park's guitarist Brad Delson. "We think our music is a cross-section of many genres; a hybrid of what the six of us have grown up on." The title of the band's debut album and its original band name, Hybrid Theory, describes both the six-piece's artistic goals and its approach to making music. Linkin Park's sound, a melting pot of heavy alternative rock, hip-hop, and electronic flourishes, is utterly their own, an accomplishment strengthened by the band's remarkably powerful, organic songwriting. But almost everything about Linkin Park has been unforced, including their Southern California origins. Linkin Park will be at Bridgestone Arena Saturay along with Rise Against and Of Mice & Men.
FRAGILE Midge Ure is a Scottish musician and singer-songwriter. Ure enjoyed particular success in the 1970s and 1980s in bands including Slik, Thin Lizzy, Rich Kids, and Visage, and most notably as frontman of Ultravox. In 1984, Ure co-wrote and produced the charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?", which has sold 3.7 million copies in the UK. The song is the second highest selling single in UK chart history. Ure co-organized Band Aid, Live Aid and Live 8 with Bob Geldof. Ure acts as trustee for the charity, and serves as ambassador for Save the Children. Ure is currently on a solo tour and will be stopping in at Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta on Saturday.

His signature style combines memorable melodies, space-age synthesizers, catchy vocals, chops, glitches, and serious experimentation to create a rich listening experience. His music can’t really be categorized or labeled — he produces highenergy electronic music that sticks to no genre and strives to broaden the listener’s musical spectrum.

There’s a lot of music with a timeline and like listening to songs from the ‘40s is pretty rare, so I think everything will continually change and everything is going to be different. I don’t think there’s a bubble to be burst or anything like that. Good music will be around for a while. That’s just how it goes. I think I was a year from finishing when we started to hit it. And with that band we were
touring so much all over the world, signed to Columbia Records in Japan when I was 19 and it was kind of like a whirlwind. As a band there was some writing differences where we weren’t writing as much music as we used to and I was working so much by myself, people just stated to hit me up about music that I had been writing by myself and as the band started to relax I realized I still had a need to write music for the live environment – the live atmosphere. That’s what spurred the Paper Diamond project. I wanted to make music you could enjoy at home and come and have an experience at a show. That’s really what the tour is about. The Raindrops EP coming out in a couple of weeks is basically – like I write every day and some of them get turned into songs. Some of them stay as instrumentals. The new release is my favorite of stuff that represent kind of what I’m enjoying in music and what are some of my favorites from last year and my messages and ideas that are relevant to my life and it’s going to be portrayed
with crazy stage production. I think we’re bringing close to 70 LED panels amid all this artwork we’ve been collaborating with designers on. We’re bringing a curated sound system. It’s really going to be crazy everything – a real experience that people aren’t going to want to miss.

MONEY MANAGEMENT
THE ECONOMY IN THE U.S. TODAY How has it been that with all the billions of dollars per month that the Fed has injected into the money supply, how come the economy has not responded? Even though the Fed had tapered their money stimulus, the Fed's balance sheet has increased to over 4 trillion dollars up from a half of a trillion just a few years ago. So if the Fed has supplied the economy with essentially 4 trillion dollars, where is the money? Following the money trail the Fed prints the money out of thin air and then lends it to the U.S. Treasury. Then the U.S. Treasury supplies the banks with this money at close to zero interest rates. So at this point the Banks have the stimulus money. This money was put into cir-
culation to help the economy grow through lending for homes, business, etc. But most of the homes today were purchased with cash. Corporations are sitting on a record amount of cash. They have done this because they do not want to repatriate it and pay the tax on it. Loans are not being made because of lending policies. corporations are not needing the money for expansion. What they are borrowing money for is to fund their operations because they would rather pay a low-interest rate of about 3% than repatriate the money they have overseas and pay 40% in tax. So at the end of the day, the money that was printed to fuel the economy has not been used for its intention.
ENIGMA
The banks that have the stimulus money have invested it. They are paying almost nothing in interest and in turn investing it aggressively. This will be dangerous for the taxpayer because these banks are too large to fail and if or when the stock bubble pops the U. S. government will have to bail them out to keep a banking system alive. However this time this bubble is so large that it may ruin the economy as a whole and as a result collapse the "system" including the dollar. If the banks are not going to use the money that was put into circulation for its intention. Then the U.S. government has a fiduciary responsibility to stop issuing bonds for the Fed to purchase. The system should realize that increasing the Fed's balance sheet that already has over 4

trillion dollars of treasury notes has to stop. When is when? If the economy has not been stimulated after trillions of dollars of stimulus, more is not the solution. If the money stimulus is the answer, force the banks to lend it or if they will not, then they must send it back to the U.S. government so that they can repay the federal loans. Find out, after all of the trillions of dollars of economic stimulus that the Fed has injected, the reasons why the economy is still slow. Start to realize that the actions of the Fed has only inflated a bubble that ultimately will collapse the dollar if nothing is done.

Terrorism 2.0 I had only the vaguest knowledge of the French satire newspaper, Charlie Hebdo, before last week. I remembered the name (barely) after I first heard of the weekly’s controversial publication of caricatures of the prophet Muhammad. Muslims consider all depictions of the prophet to be “blasphemous.” On January 7, Jihadist brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi murdered 12 people at the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris in retaliation for the blasphemy. The Kouachis assassinated eight newspaper staffers, two cops, a maintenance man and a random visitor before fleeing the scene. The brothers were shot dead by cops two days later. Amedy Coulibaly, who murdered four people and wounded four others in a kosher supermarket in eastern Paris the day after the Charlie Hebdo attack, was killed when police raided the market. His accomplice, Hayat Boumeddiene (sometimes referred to as his “common-
law wife”) remains at large… …These terrorist incidents have revealed just how vulnerable we all are to the type of attacks perpetrated recently in and around Paris. Since 9/11, the Department of Homeland Security has focused on preventing “mass casualty” attacks and defending “major” targets. Firearms are a lot easier to get in the United States than they are in France. A couple of terrorists with a gym bag full of semiautomatic pistols could wreak havoc in a public place. If those terrorists don’t care if they live or die, it makes the potential situation a lot harder on law enforcement… …Al Qaeda in Yemen have taken “credit” for the attacks in and around Paris. small-scale terrorist attack unless there is indisputable forensic evidence. The rise of ISIS/ISIL has pushed Al Qaeda out of the news lately, but it would be foolish to overlook the group formerly led by the late Osama Bin Laden. One of the scariest revelations of the Paris investigations was the fact that both Kouachi brothers were under surveillance by French police until about six months ago. The cops simply didn’t have the available resources to continue monitoring them...
…It is patently unfair to paint all followers of Islam as terrorists. Al-Jazeera and other Islamic news organizations were quick to condemn the terror attacks in Paris. Most Muslims are peaceful followers of the prophet Muhammad. The actions of a few extremists, cloaked in quasi-religious justification, are enough to trigger bigotry in many. But police departments and other government agencies can’t afford to see all Muslims as “the enemy.” They need the help of non-violent Muslims to identify and stop the …The Paris attacks, if they were extremists who dishonor the faith fueled by anger at Charlie Hebdo’s with their murderous actions… perceived blasphemy and pure anti-Semitism (in the case of the …Charlie Hebdo published a spehostage-taking and shootings at cial edition this week. Dear Rocco, How important is sex in a relationship? My girlfriend and I seem to have differing opinions on this. When we first meet, we had sex two to three times a week. Now, after a few months it seems we only have sex once a week. This concerns me. I have a healthy sex drive and enjoy having sex with the woman I love. We love each other and she tells me so. When I approached her with this and told her I was frustrated she did not understand. I told her I feel that sex plays an important role in a relationship. I certainly do not base a relationship on sex but having been through many relationships, I feel that a healthy sex life is important to a good relationship. She thinks it just “helps” a relationship and I place too much importance on it. Am I totally wrong? DW

NEW DELHI (UPI) - A senior official with India’s Central Public Works Department was fired after he failed to show up for work for 25 years. Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu issued an order Thursday to terminate the employment of A.K. Verma, a former executive electrical engineer with the department. The firing came at the end of an inquiry that heard Verma went on leave in December 1990 and had not reported for duty since then. The inquiry heard
Verma sought repeated extensions for his unsanctioned leave and refused orders to return to work. A previous inquiry accusing him of willful absence from duty in 1992 was delayed when the engineer failed to cooperate with the investigation. “Owing to non-cooperation of Mr. Verma with the inquiry and for other reasons, it got delayed and a fresh charge sheet was issued in 2005. The inquiry report, establishing the charges was submitted in July 2007 and the same was accepted by the thenMinister of Urban Development in August 2007. But no further action

A builder who broke both his arms and legs after falling off a construction site survived for nearly a week by drinking his own urine. Friends of Yang Hsieh thought he’d quit his job at the building site in Hunan province, central China, but the 28-year-old had slipped and plunged 65ft, shattering his limbs and breaking his mobile phone. Unable to move or phone anyone he tried calling out for help but no one heard him. Builder Fai She, 32, said: “At first we thought he was off sick. We tried calling him but the phone was constantly off and by day four we thought he must have found work somewhere else. We had no idea he was lying on the ground below us.” Yang was eventually found six days later when a passerby heard his cries for help. He was taken to hospital where doctors say he is now making a full recovery. DEEPHAVEN, Minn. (UPI) - A Minnesota man who collected more than $167,000 in welfare benefits while he had more than $3 mil-
lion in the bank was sentenced to 21 months in prison. The court heard Colin Chisholm, 63, and his wife, Andrea, 54, collected more than $167,000 in medical and food assistance claims in the seven years leading up to March 2012 and investigators later discovered the couple had more than $3 million in the bank and lived in a $1.6 million mansion in Deephaven. The couple, who once claimed to be Scottish nobility and went by the titles “Lord and Lady Chisholm,” were also found to own a luxury yacht worth millions on Lake Minnetonka. Judge Lois Conroy handed down a 21-month prison sentence despite state sentencing guidelines calling for probation. Conroy agreed with prosecutors that prison time was called for due to the severity of the welfare fraud. Chisholm was also ordered to pay $167,420 in restitution following the completion of his prison sentence. “This is a fitting end to a crime that never should have occurred,” Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said after the sentencing. “We are pleased with the sentence and believe it is one of the longest ever given in the state of Minnesota for welfare fraud.” Andrea Chisholm pleaded guilty in August to aiding and abetting wrongfully obtaining public assistance. She was sentenced to one year and one day in prison. Freeman said she was less culpable for the fraud because Colin Chisholm was the one fraudulently signing documents.
ENIGMA
ROSWELL, N.M. (UPI) - A New Mexico man said his elation at winning more than $500,000 from a lottery scratch-off ticket turned to disappointment when he learned it was a misprint. John Wines, a recent retiree from Roswell, said he bought the scratch-off in December from a local Shell station and he scratched the ticket to reveal five winning numbers, two of which were each worth $250,000. Wines said he took the ticket — which has a stated maximum prize of $250,000 — back to the gas station to show how he had somehow managed to win more than $500,000. “I took it back in and she told me that is not a winner,” Wines told KOB-TV. “They told me that it was a misprint and they don’t pay off for misprints.” Wines contacted officials with the New Mexico Lottery and received a reply via email. “We did find a flaw in that particular pack of tickets and it’s been reported to our printer. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I did complete a reconstruction of your ticket and it was not a winner,” the email read. Wines said he was crushed by the news. “If it was $50 or $75, I would not think a thing about it,” he said. “But this is $500,000. That’s a half million.” “It’s like I told them, I didn’t misprint it. I bought the ticket in good faith thinking if I won I was going to get my money. And they told me no, they absolutely, positively told me no.” The New Mexico Lottery offered Wines $100 worth of tickets as compensation. Wines said his wife, Maria, who once won

$100,000 from the Indiana Lottery, told him to put the incident behind him. “She told me to forget it,” he told Fox News. “She said they’re never going to pay me.” ARIZONA - Police in Arizona say they subdued a samurai-sword wielding man with a stun gun after he challenged officers to shoot him, authorities said. Police were investigating a complaint of loud music when they encountered Robert Burns, 48, on Sunday evening. Sgt. Tod Moore, a spokesman for the Cottonwood Police Department, said officers announced their presence and knocked on the door of Burns’ home several times before he answered while brandishing a samurai sword. Burns was ordered to put down the sword, but he responded by asking the officers if they were legitimate police, Moore said. Officers continued to identify themselves and Burns challenged them to shoot him, taking an aggressive posture and raising his sword. After multiple commands to stand down Burns drove the sword into the ground, Moore said. The officers say Burns remained aggressive with them, despite their attempts to reason with him. At one point, Burns reached for the sword again, prompting officers to use a stun gun to help bring him into custody. Burns was being held on suspicion of aggravated assault on an officer, disorderly conduct with a weapon, making unreasonable noise and being a prohibited possessor.

Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan. But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-comeout-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around. But was the art really his? His wife Margaret claims that Walter’s only contributions to the work were his signatures, and Keanes subsequent legal battle will destroy their marriage and lead to a jaw-dropping court showdown that will prove once and for all who the real artist is.

During battle, Moses saves Ramses life, causing Ramses to fear that his brother will one day be King because it fits with a prophecy handed down by one of Seti’s trusted spiritualists. Soon after Seti’s death, Moses, who is actually Jewish and not Egyptian, is banished. However, he becomes the leader of the Jewish people and leads a rebellion, with the help of a wrathful God, against that Egyptians.

Cowboys ‘Non Catch’ Ends Season
Let’s face it, the Dallas Cowboys have only themselves to blame for their head scratching 26-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers. This game should never have hinged on a referee’s interpretation on how far a receiver has to reach with his arm toward the goal line to determine whether or not it’s a catch.
all fell apart when Garrett called for a timeout after tight end Jaxon Witten had been rewarded a first down on a generous spot after catching a Tony Romo pass. Instead of allowing his team to go into a hurry-up mode to run another play, the head coach called a time out. significant yardage after the initial catch. Randall Cobb and Devante Adams had more than 100 yards rushing after their receptions. The stat really raised its ugly head when the Packers were facing a third and 15 from the Cowboys 46. It was late in the third quarter and Rodgers connected with Adams who was behind safety Sterling Moore. Moore tried to get his hands on the ball by going underneath Adams but was a second too late. Cornerback J.J. Wilcox took a bad angle on Adams to tackle him but missed as the receiver cut back across the field and ran 31 yards to the end zone. The team has 19 free agents (15 unrestricted, four restricted) they will have to make hard decisions on in the coming weeks. Those free agents include nine of the 22 starters against Green Bay. The two high profile players are All Pro’s Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray. Nagging injury issues and inconsistent play through their contracts will be determining factors in their future with the franchise.
