AN IRISH JOURNEY Celtic Woman is a female vocal ensemble that performs a mix of Celtic, New Age, and adult contemporary music. Often compared to such artists as Clannad, Enya, and Loreena McKennitt, Celtic Woman first rose to acclaim with an energetic stage show that shared much in common with similarlyminded productions like Riverdance (whose music director, David Downes, was the driving force behind Celtic Woman's formation in 2004). Celtic Woman will be at the Memorial Auditorium Friday.

Big News Monday It was already a big news Monday here in Tennessee. Mayor Andy Berke and seven new City Council members took their oaths of office at the Tivoli in the morning. In early afternoon, it was reported that the FBI had shut down the Knoxville headquarters of Pilot/Flying J. The father of Tennessee governor Bill Haslam founded the company, which ranked sixth on the 2012 Forbes Largest Private Companies list… …In the late afternoon, the tragic events in Boston rearranged the news. As I write this there have been three fatalities and at least 180 injuries. Many of the victims lost limbs as a result of the two explosions near the finish of the Boston Marathon. Investigations are ongoing after a “person of interest” (a Saudi national) was detained and later released… …Some quickly compared Monday’s tragedy to the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York City’s World Trade
Center and the Pentagon. Others compared to the April 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building and the 1996 Atlanta Olympic bombing. Such evil events defy normal
logic, but it is human nature to draw comparisons and search for “reasons”. Similarly, the conspiracy theorists are already going off on various and sundry tangents…

In the late night hours after the attack, race volunteers stayed on site to guard the personal belongings of hundreds of runners who were forced to evacuate when the marathon’s finish line became a crime scene. Hundreds of Bostonians offered up housing and comfort to those whose hotels had been evacuated and closed in the wake of the bombings… …Events such as Monday’s cowardly attack on innocents rearrange the day’s headlines and make us all question the very nature of humanity. But the actions of the brave souls who ran into the bloody, smoky aftermath to help those innocents are enough to restore my faith?

A lot of it was tough to watch. There was a lot of blood. As was the case with those who witnessed the falling of New York’s twin towers, the faces of the Boston survivors often had that hollow and haunted look common to those who endure such a shock… …But I saw another common theme in the post-bombing video footage. I saw people running toward the explosions? not away from them. I saw first responders, race volunteers and ordinary bystanders rushing to help the injured. If You Work Hard And Do The Right Thing You Are An Idiot - What I Learned From Obamaism One thing I find confusing is that our progressive socialists have engaged in hypocritical and political economic propaganda unfortunately, none of their gibberish makes any sense no matter which Teleprompter it is read from or which podium they stand behind. For instance on one hand our socialist leaders tell us that things happen faster when there is a penalty involved.
One thing I've learned in all of this is that if you work hard, harder than everyone else, the government just comes after you in their attempt to make everyone equal, even though you worked harder. In other words if you work hard and do the right thing, you are basically an idiot, and therefore you should be taken advantage of by your government through penalty driven taxation for working hard and being productive. That my friends is all I have learned about life in America ever since Barack Obama and his administration have been in office. Please consider all this and think on it.

MONEY MANAGEMENT
ROAD TO FINANCIAL FREEDOM IN FIVE EASY STEPS Always Pay yourself first no matter what. People have probably heard this a thousand times yet no one does it. Save at least 10 percent of your income even if you cannot pay all your bills, this is still a must. This is the first major step in being financially free. I know what you’re saying, but I want to make a $1000 by tomorrow. Patience my friend. Sell anything you don’t use or will not use anymore and put that money into an interest baring account so you can start to have your money work for you. Learning to invest will be time well spent because when you
have extra money you can use that to grow your wealth. That is what the rich do (and the reason that they are financially free) that the poor and the middle class don’t. How many cheap rich people do you know, I bet a lot more than poor and middle class people. That is from my own personal experience.

still be able to save at least 25$ a week. In ten years that is $13,000 dollars which is not bad for only $25 a week. Last but not least getting rid of your debt, or getting it down to a manageable size is very important. The first thing you can do is call your creditors and ask them to lower your payment, so you can catch up with other bills or eliminate them all together. Remember it doesn’t cost anything to ask. NEWS & NOTES SSttrr ee aakk iinn gg BBuuss cchh FFaa ccee ss KK aannss aass CC hhaa llllee nnggee The Kyle Busch that won 100 NASCAR national series races at a record clip largely disappeared in 2012. He fashioned just one victory overall and missed the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. News flash: He’s back. And how. Busch posted his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory of the year in Texas to extend his string of five top-five finishes and advance to third in the standings just 18 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson. Since finishing 23rd in Phoenix, the driver of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota has gone fourth, second, first, fifth and first. Over that fiverace span, Busch has led 435 laps – or an average of 87 per race. Busch needs to lead just 174 laps to enter an exclusive 25,000 laps-led club that currently boasts only five competitors – all members of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. They are Richard Petty, the all-time lap leader with more than 50,000, Cale Yarborough, Dale Earnhardt, Bobby Allison and David Pearson. Adding an exclamation point in the Lone Star State, Busch won his series-record fourth NASCAR Nationwide Series event in the first six races of the season. Two victories would have put Busch
in last year’s Chase and might well guarantee the Nevada driver a spot in 2013. But he’s taking nothing for granted. “We’ve still got some work to do to get better at some of the tracks that we did struggle at last year, and we know that,” he said, pointing to Sunday’s STP 400 at Kansas Speedway. The 1.5-mile track, resurfaced last summer, has been a speed bump, of sorts, for Busch. He’s without a NASCAR Sprint Cup victory or a top-five finish in 11 starts at Kansas Speedway, where Busch’s best performance is a seventh in 2006. Busch also has finished off the lead lap in five races – a rarity. Statistics support Busch’s Kansas struggles. His Driver Rating is – by his standards – an anemic 81.8, 17th among current drivers. Busch’s average Kansas finish is 21.0 He finished 31st in last fall’s Chase race, eliminated by an accident after 181 laps. Busch is aware of the challenge. “That’s going to be a battle for us just making sure we’ve got a good handling car and one that I can drive and push hard and make speed of because that asphalt is pretty new there,” he said. Busch will do double-duty at Kansas

WEIRD NEWS SALT LAKE CITY - Police in Utah allege a man showed up at a Utah state trooper’s home drunk to complain about his being turned in for drunken driving last year. Salt Lake City police said Gordon Tye Bell, 37, was allegedly drunk and had a beer in his hand when he showed up about 7 p.m. Sunday at the home of a neighbor who is a Utah Highway Patrol trooper, the Deseret News in Salt Lake City reported Tuesday. Police said the neighbor had
called 911 last year to say he suspected Bell of driving while intoxicated. Members of the trooper’s family called the onduty officer, who rushed home. Police said Bell tried to walk away when the trooper told him police were on the way and the trooper ended up taking Bell into custody himself while waiting for city police. Bell was arrested on suspicion of witness tampering, trespassing, public intoxication and resisting arrest.

Sister Mary Anne Rapp of the Order of St. Francis pleaded guilty in Orleans County Court to one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, District Attorney Joe Cardone said. WIVB-TV, Buffalo, said Rapp stole the money from St. Mark’s Church in Holley, N.Y., about 60 miles northeast of Buffalo. The thefts occurred from 2006 to 2011 when Rapp was placed on administrative

HASTINGS, Minn. - A father from Hastings, Minnesota could face charges after his 2-year-old was found wandering on a busy street holding two bottles of hard lemonade. The 42-year-old father is being held in the Dakota County Jail. Hastings police say a couple from Prescott, Wisconsin found the
toddler, without shoes or socks, in the middle of the road Sunday afternoon. Authorities say the father called police a couple hours later to report his son missing. Officers arrested the man after they arrived at his house, saying he was intoxicated and uncooperative. The toddler was returned to his mother, who doesn’t live with the father. NEW YORK, March 7 - There’s book of the month, fruit of the month, beer of the month and now a U.S. entrepreneur has launched tampon of the month. Naama Bloom this week began HelloFlo, a subscription service for a monthly need, The Verge reported. “No one actually enjoys the experience of buying tampons,” Bloom told the tech/science/art/culture website, adding HelloFlo’s packaging is discreet. HelloFlo will ensure women have the proper supplies and they don’t have to worry about running out late at night because they were caught unawares. “For some reason, it’s just something that drives me crazy,” Bloom said. “First of all, the product packaging is wrong — if you need overnight pads, you have to buy a whole box that’s going to last you all year. It seems so simple to just create a multi-pack that actually makes sense.” And for those who don’t think there’s money in the idea, Bloom notes it’s an $8 billion market in the United States. JONKOPING, Sweden - A Swedish court threw out hate crime charges against a 24-yearold man who went to a costume party dressed as Adolf Hitler. The Jonkoping District Court ruled the man did not intend to appear threatening or disre-
spectful to any group when he donned a costume resembling the Nazi dictator, complete with a swastika armband and small mustache, the Swedish news agency TT reported Friday. “My client went to a costume party and the point wasn’t to express some political or other view. Rather, it was simply to represent a Nazi,” attorney Mats Erfors said. “He wasn’t walking around the city with a swastika.” However, the man was convicted on weapons charges after a shotgun and a stun gun were found at his apartment. BALTIMORE - A Maryland father said it was “insanity” to suspend his 7-year-old son from school for chewing his breakfast pastry into the shape of a gun. Josh Welch, a secondgrader at Park Elementary School in Baltimore, said he was trying to chew his breakfast pastry into the shape of a mountain during breakfast at the school Friday, WBFF-TV, Baltimore, reported Monday. “It was already a rectangle and I just kept on biting it and biting it and tore off the top and it kinda looked like a gun but it wasn’t.” the boy said. “All I was trying to do was turn it into a mountain but, it didn’t look like a mountain really and it turned out to be a gun kinda.” However, he said he knew he was in “big trouble” when a teacher saw what he created. B.J. Welch, the boy’s father, said he was shocked when Josh was suspended for two days. “I would almost call it insanity. I mean with all the potential issues that could be dealt with at school, real threats, bullies, whatever the real issue is, it’s a pastry ... ya know?” The school sent a note home with students

NEVER LIKED THE BEATLES
NEVER LOVED ELVIS JIM SELLS What do you do when everything new that you have listened to this week falls short? I mean, beside listen to a lot of Dave Edmunds, Nick Lowe, and Billy Bremner in all their various permutations. C’mon, if you do not have all those albums, what the Hell are you doing with your life? Sorry, got somewhat sidetracked there. Anyway, what you should do is dig out The Reverend Horton Heat’s “The Full Custom Gospel Sounds” and get down. It has been twenty years since this gem hit the shelves and it has not aged one damned bit. With Gibby Haynes of the Butthole Surfers producing tunes and providing karmic weirdness, the lyrical shenanigans combined with a band ready to take on all comers to kick ass – names were irrelevant. “Wiggle Stick” hit me on the Mojo Nixon/Skid Roper level but, no matter how much they rocked, they could not play guitar like this. Breathless, yet tasteful guitar work combined with Taz on drums and Jimbo Heath’s choice work on stand-up

bass to create a classic.
That is all you get, and it is all you need. Rock out.
With a musical nod to The Sweet’s “Ballroom Blitz”, “400 Bucks” landed a musical haymaker that had listeners reeling. A tale of romance gone wrong and money just gone, the malice that The Reverend Horton Heat brings to this song is palpable. That might be a bit creepy if it did not completely rock out. “The Devil’s Chasing Me” is insanely good, spooky sounds and great dynamics creating a song that begs to be in a better soundtrack than “Love and a .45”. “Living on the Edge (of Houston)” is a crazy ode to a crazy city, and a good one at that. “You Can’t Get Away from Me” is a stone rave-up, a rockabilly name dropper along the lines of The Charlie Daniels Band’s “Uneasy Rider”. “You can take a ride on Billy Idol’s Harley/Watch while Henry Rollins gets tattooed” is one of the finest lyrical couplets ever. “Beer: 30” follows up, boiling rock lyrics down to their essence: “Party! Get naked! Buy us beer!” and “Throw furniture! Gin and tonic! Get naked!”
“Big Little Baby” is next, Jimbo Heath showing what he can do again with an ode to loving big women that does not stop. “Lonesome Train Whistle” is more akin to what you might expect from rockabilly revivalists. “Bales of Cocaine” is a narcocorrido with a happy ending and a great sense of humor, more Jimbo Heath.

“Loaded Gun” wanders off into slower, darker territory with a tale of booze, love lost, and “a life of sin”. That is a rock song right there. Want to get drunk and jam? You can do it for a hundred years and never get anything as cool as “Nurture My Pig”, though you might get something as skewed as the closing track, “Gin and Tonic Blues”. Albums like this are made very rarely, but no one is quite sure how. There was really no reason that this made it as big as it did, except that it is untouchable. The ascent of this album and, subsequently, this band showed that occasionally the record-buying public would buy something nonformulaic. It might happen again, but I am not holding my breath. Either dig this one out or GO BUY IT if you do not have it (what is wrong with you?) and rock on, brothers and sisters. They do not make ‘em like this anymore.
