COMMUNITY ED CLASSES ART & MUSIC Community Choir
Performance class with emphasis on music notation, breathing and three/four part singing. The class will also include large group and sectional singing. Class will also conduct at least one public concert. Partial scholarships may be available.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Community enhancement through Education Community Education is a staple of most colleges. The classes are taught by members of the community who wish to share an interest, hobby or skill. The setting is informal and there are no educational requirement to teach a Community Ed class. Instructors set the class times, days and fees, and are paid based on the number of people who take the class. These classes are not for credit and do not transfer toward a degree program. Additionally, ENMU-Ruidoso’s Community Ed department hosts local events, such as the “Living in the WUI (Wildland Urban Interface)” series, providing critical information to residents of the community. ENMU-Ruidoso is committed to the enhancement of the community and all of Lincoln County. Private Voice Lessons Private voice lessons for children, teens, and adults. $105 for 4 half-hour lessons once per week (recommended for ages 8 to 14) $210 for 4 one-hour lessons once per week (recommended for ages 14 to adult) Students will buy a music book with CD so they can rehearse their songs at home. Freestyle Painting
An opportunity to paint with others and hone your skills in a supportive environment. Oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels – whatever your choice. No instruction but lots of camaraderie. commands to operate a computer. We will cover the basic layout of the Windows 8 desktop and use Microsoft Word to learn about the different keys and mouse functions. It is not necessary for students to know how to type. Skills covered in the class are: the mouse and the cursor, shift key functions, enter key functions, click and drag (mouse), backspace key functions, delete key functions, double left click (mouse), single left click (mouse), tab key functions, directional arrow keys, caps lock functions, and combination key functions. Intro to Windows 8 This training teaches the core features and functions of Window 8. HEALTH & WELLNESS Yoga Teaching Certificate RYT-200 The Yoga Teacher Certification Program offers a nationally recognized professional Yoga Alliance RYT credential, qualifying graduates to enter the job market as a certified RYT-200 yoga instructor. Students will learn through 250 hours of training how to teach yoga based on ancient texts, modern principles and to develop safe, therapeutic lesson plans for a broad range of students. The program includes study of Gentle Hatha Yoga, Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Bandha Yoga, Myofacial Stretch Yoga, Power and Hot Yoga – and class plan development to cultivate mindfulness, flexibility, balance, strength and endurance. Power from the New Mexico Sky: Installing Solar Energy in the 21st Century
Rainwater Harvesting/Management System Design The course will cover steps in reducing treated water use, design, installation and use various rainwater harvesting and gray water usage systems for businesses and residences, and development of a rainfall and gray water usage plan for your property. The course will also review of existing rainwater regulations, introduce drip irrigation ‘black water’ systems; and, answer your questions. Numerous handouts will be provided. This popular class is offered the first Wednesday of each month, February through May. Register for one month. The course is a must for Lincoln and Otero County residents, and members of the Mescalero Apache Tribe.
This brief course covers the general development of energy generation in Lincoln County, with a specific focus on the rapidly changing field of solar energy. The course also includes an overview of the history of solar energy use, including new developments in material technology, battery storage, installation techniques, etc. The science behind solar will be also reviewed, how solar works, system components and how to make a solar buy or lease decision should you decide to install various types of solar. How to work with utility companies on this type of power generation project will also be discussed. A solar tour of medium scale Lincoln County solar facilities at a different day/time is also available as part of the course with sufficient participant interest.

Energy Efficiency for Homes and Businesses
PERSONAL ENRICHMENT
This course is designed to provide an overview of energy use and energy efficiency in residential and small business buildings. Participants will learn how to conduct a simple building energy assessment, and recommended safe, and costeffective energy efficiency improvements that lead to a more comfortable, safe and energy – efficient home, and a lower overhead small business operation. Estate Planning
Explore the origins of prehistoric arts, its development and decline in this exciting hands-on field study class! Translation of rock art and artwork will be covered. Enjoy hiking, drawing and photography. This class will ultimately produce a calendar of rock art found in the region. Students will need hiking boots, water, a hat, camera and food for these trips. Student will also need good health and good hiking abilities.
A broad overview of estate planning topics which can be altered for a specific group. The class covers the most basic estate planning topics to the more intricate aspects of asset protection.

The Creative Aging Advisory Committee to Lincoln County The Creative Aging Advisory Committee to Lincoln County invites you to participate in our mission of serving seniors in Lincoln County. Recognizing that many of the key factors that influence a livable community are determined locally, we strive to create an opportunity to bring together decision makers across the public, private, and volunteer sectors to work in partnership with seniors to create imaginative changes that will have an impact on the lives of all of us as we age in this frontier community. Many notaries or people interested in becoming a Notary are unaware of the regulations covering this little known service. Alcohol Server
The New Mexico Liquor Control Act Mandates that every liquor license, lessee or server who manages, directs or controls the sale or service of alcohol for consumption on or off the license premises must satisfactorily complete an alcohol server program every five years. This class provides all the state required training and covers all state laws and regulations concerning the sale and service of alcohol, liquor liability issues and driving under the influence of alcohol. Participants must be at least 19 years old and have valid photo validation. This two-day course will prepare you to write and submit a grant application in order to secure funding for your non-profit organization.
